Chapter 69: Kill – Part 1

The chanting grew louder and brighter, and the light on the scroll intensified. A special fluctuation began to appear.

Undoubtedly, the spell recorded on the scroll was about to exert its proper effect soon.

By this time, the Wolf Pack had lost its earlier ferocity. Each one seemed like a wooden or clay statue, motionless. Even the Guard Wolves and the two Beta Wolves were no exception.

The Goth Grand Knight and the two Knights showed expressions of joy, and even Momon, who was chanting the spell, looked pleased.

Everything indicated that in this great battle between the Goth and the wolves, the Goth had won the final victory. Even the Goths themselves thought so.

Perhaps only Dean held a different opinion.

Dean’s gaze continued to sweep through the Wolf Pack, and finally, amidst the layered mass of wolves, he found a wild wolf that was huge in size but moved with light steps.

Just by looking at the size of this wild wolf, anyone could sense its extraordinary nature.

Dean was certain that this wild wolf was the Alpha Wolf, the head wolf of this Hagaslo Wolf pack.

After all, apart from the cunning Alpha Wolf, Dean could not think of which wolf would advance towards its target in a semi-crawling posture like the wolf before him.

Not only did it minimize its noise, but it also used the cover of the pack to make itself as inconspicuous as a leaf in the forest.

Dean’s eyes followed the movement of the Alpha Wolf in the Wolf Pack before him. Of course, he did not stare directly. Wild beasts had terrifying intuition, especially those altered by Alchemy. Therefore, Dean used only his peripheral vision.

However, even with peripheral vision, Dean could see everything clearly!

The Goths, unaware and expecting final victory, watched as the Wolf Pack seemed to become lambs waiting for slaughter, raising the butcher’s knife at their whim.

When Momon raised the scroll in his hand and the spell was about to enter its final section, a sudden change occurred.

A Black Shadow silently slipped past the Grand Knight’s defense. Before the latter could even react, the Black Shadow had pounced on Momon, knocking him to the ground.

Of course, its target was not Momon, but the scroll in Momon’s hands.

Therefore, Momon did not die immediately.

However, being in close contact with such a large carnivorous animal was certainly not a pleasant experience. The foul smell from the beast’s mouth almost made the Wizard faint. However, as someone relied upon by Prince Fendel, Momon still performed adequately at this moment.

When he felt the scroll slip from his hand, the Wizard immediately shouted, “The scroll! The scroll!”

With a beautiful arc, the scroll fell to a spot outside the Wolf Pack. The Goth Grand Knight did not chase it immediately. Instead, he turned around, and the Long-handled Battle Axe in his hand carried a sharp whistling sound, swinging down towards the Alpha Wolf. This very strike caused Momon to circle back from the edge of death.

Roar, whine, whine!

The Alpha Wolf lowered its body and let out a series of roars at the Grand Knight in front of it. Clearly, the beast’s intuition told it that this man would be its biggest opponent.

“Herd, Iriel, go retrieve the scroll quickly. Do not touch those wolves—the spell’s power can still restrain them for a while!”

Rolling several times on the ground to temporarily break away from the range of the one-on-one standoff between man and wolf, Momon shouted loudly.

Immediately, the two Goth Knights chased after the direction where the scroll had disappeared.

However, when the two Goth Knights had just entered the Wolf Pack, the Wolf Pack, which should have still been restrained for a while, suddenly moved.

It was like a tide breaking through a dam.

In an instant, the two Goth Knights were swallowed up. Of course, they did not do nothing; they resisted tenaciously.

However, whether it was Herd’s Strength or Iriel’s dual swords, they were useless against a mass of wolves.

Especially when these wolves were fearless of death, the outcome of the battle was already sealed.

Herd smashed wave after wave of wolves with his fists. Every wolf he smashed had broken bones and severed tendons. But for every one he knocked away, two or three more appeared. When the Guard Wolves and Beta Wolves joined the fray, a Beta Wolf tore Herd’s arm apart immediately. This brave Goth Knight was then torn apart by the pack of wolves pouncing from behind.

Iriel, wielding dual swords, lasted only a dozen seconds longer than Herd before meeting the same fate as his colleague.

After his dual swords pierced the fur of two Guard Wolves and dug deep into their internal organs, he suddenly realized that another female Beta Wolf had been watching him like a tiger.

Iriel’s throat was torn apart.

The Goth Knight, now devoid of his dual swords, was not as formidable as he had appeared, so the female Beta Wolf’s attack required no effort.

Immediately, only the Grand Knight and the Wizard remained on the Goth side.

The Grand Knight, locked onto by the Alpha Wolf, did not dare to move a muscle. The Wizard, however, reached into his chest and pulled out a slightly translucent powder, scattering it over his own body.

Next, the Wizard disappeared from his original location.

Or rather, he blended into the surroundings—like a chameleon, though if observed closely, he could still be seen clearly.

But the surrounding Wolf Pack seemed to not see the Wizard at all, passing him by and gathering around their Leader’s position.

Clearly, the slightly translucent powder not only concealed his body but also hid his scent.

“Master Momon!”

The Grand Knight shouted, but received no reply.

Watching the growing number of wolves and the Alpha Wolf staring dead at him, the Goth Grand Knight roared and launched the first attack.

As time passed, the Wolf Pack would only grow larger, making the situation increasingly unfavorable for him.

Without reinforcements, he obviously could not sustain a long battle. He had to break out with the minimum cost!

What about the Wizard Momon?

The silent answer had clearly explained everything.

Holding onto this belief, the Goth Grand Knight began his breakout.

Just like before, his body became tall and imposing again, his muscles knotted like the roots of an old tree. Then, the Long-handled Battle Axe swung down once more.

Whoo!

The sound of the wind breaking was no less than the previous strike!

However, this strike was ‘dodged’ by the Alpha Wolf in front of him. The body leaping into the air underwent an impossible self-rotation. The entire body flipped up along the blade of the axe, and with a slight step of its claws on the edge, the entire body shot towards the Grand Knight like an arrow.

Agile, agile far beyond imagination.

This was fully demonstrated on the Alpha Wolf.

Of course, the Goth Grand Knight also possessed his own techniques. Facing the charging Alpha Wolf, the axe infused with all his strength suddenly veered. All the power concentrated on the steel handle of the Battleaxe. Then, with immense force, the handle smashed towards the Alpha Wolf in front of him.

This time, even the extremely agile Alpha Wolf could not dodge. The handle smashed heavily into its body.

However, its claws also left a long, deep blood mark on the chest of the Goth Grand Knight, so deep that bone was visible.

The Alpha Wolf was knocked away, and the Goth Grand Knight retreated continuously.

Clearly, although it was just one strike, the result was a mutually destructive situation.

However, for the Goth Grand Knight, this was absolutely an unfavorable situation. Because apart from the Alpha Wolf, two Beta Wolves and the Guard Wolves had already closed in.

“Haa!”

Picking up his Battleaxe again, the Goth Grand Knight let out a loud shout and charged towards the pack of wolves without hesitation.

If he did not want to truly die here, he had to break out before the Alpha Wolf recovered its strength.

Otherwise, only death awaited him.

Dean did not witness how the Goth Grand Knight fought and struggled. In fact, after throwing several stones to break the Wolf Pack’s restraint, his gaze had been fixed on the Wizard who was fleeing the battle.

According to his memories, in his past life, only that man had escaped back.

So, in this life, he did not mind making a change. Of course, this would inevitably bring some changes, but compared to the benefits, the risks of such changes were negligible.

The Legacy of the Conqueror King!

Even setting aside Prince Fendel’s reasons, the treasures inside were undoubtedly far beyond imagination. For Dean, who was extremely short on Gold Pulton at this moment, it was essential.

Therefore, killing to silence and making Prince Fendel waste more time gave Dean more time to move the treasures, and Dean was more than willing.

And this had one premise—

No Goth could return to Goth.

The Grand Knight was certainly doomed to die. The deep, bone-exposing wound on his chest had already sealed his fate. Perhaps immediate Bandaging could keep him alive, but continuing to fight would naturally mean certain death.

So, he only needed to deal with the Wizard in front of him.
