The surging sound of the underground river drowned out all other noises. On one side of the riverbed, a line of figures advanced in the darkness, groping their way forward without any light.

The operation had gone very smoothly so far. As long as they opened this door, they could silently infiltrate the base. It was foreseeable that, catching the white guards inside off guard, they would be swiftly crushed. Half of the operation was already a success! Even feeling victory was within grasp, Long Ying did not relax in the slightest. He used the access card he had taken from the guard.

The reinforced steel back door swung open at the sound, revealing a brightly lit corridor.

Lin Kun’s face was full of excitement as he urged eagerly, “Chief, going straight down this corridor leads right to the base’s most important Experiment Area!”

Two figures stood before the monitor screens, watching the actions of Long Ying and the other uninvited guests. One figure wore a military uniform, heroic and tall; the other wore a white research coat, with a graceful figure.

“Lin, do you see? They’re here. I thought if they really survived the Wilderness, it would be a while longer before they dared to come knocking, but they’re earlier than I expected.”

Diris turned his head, his handsome face full of gentleness, and said softly,

In the next instant, on all the surveillance screens belonging to the Experiment Area, thick smoke billowed down from the ceiling. It flooded most of the Experiment Area in the blink of an eye, completely engulfing Long Ying and his men and obscuring all the surveillance footage!

Seeing this, Diris gently wrapped his arm around Katherine’s slender waist, seeming not to care at all about her now horrifying face. He smiled and said,

“Lin, there’s one person who looks hard to deal with. I’ll go take care of him. I hope you have fun.”
