Chapter 153 – A Moment of Glory

My view opened wide before me.
At Sebastian’s signal from just behind me, two hotel staff swung open the grand double doors of the Ootori Hotel’s great banquet hall.

For a moment, it felt as if I were about to step into an audience chamber or cathedral straight out of a fantasy world.

But what awaited beyond wasn’t a throne room.

Though lavishly decorated, with a ceiling tall enough to span two floors, the room was arranged like an enormous wedding reception, rows of tables and chairs filling the space.
Every seat was occupied by men in suits, and waiters and maids moved briskly between them.

There was no such thing as a “virgin road” here, no matter how important one might be, everyone had to walk the perimeter of the hall and find their own seat.
