Chapter 268 – An Incident Occurs

“An emergency has arisen.”

I was on standby in what could be called the command room deep beneath the Ootori Research Institute when the urgent report came rushing in, just before 6 PM on May 15, 1932.

“Where was the target?!”

In the “May 15 Incident” of my previous life’s history, it was half-baked, or maybe lacking in resolve, or simply insufficient in force. In any case, besides the Prime Minister’s residence, other places were attacked as well in that same sloppy fashion. In some cases, it was so bad that those being attacked didn’t even realize it. They supposedly used pistols and grenades, but it was a pitiful assault.

On the other hand, I’ve also heard that the security at the targeted locations was far too lax. The assassination of Tsuyoshi Inukai succeeded only because Japan’s security system was so inadequate.
