Chapter 380 – The Second London Naval Treaty Preliminary Negotiations (2)

Following the preliminary negotiations between Japan and Britain, the preliminary negotiations between Japan and America began on October 24.

In a sense, this was the real negotiation for Japan. And the same was true for America. After all, America’s basic goal was simply to restrain Japan’s naval armaments.

During the negotiations, Japan expressed its support for maintaining the existing naval disarmament system, but requested a certain degree of concessions because opposition within the country was growing stronger.

In response, America remained stubborn, insisting that there would be no further concessions beyond the current situation. After all, Japan had already built almost up to the limits allowed for auxiliary vessels, while America was at a disadvantage in terms of naval strength simply because it had failed to develop its own forces properly.

As the negotiations reached a deadlock, discussions between Britain and America took
