Chapter 112 - 111: I Wouldn’t Mind a Dozen More Masters Like This!

When Doctor Jenkins swiped his card and entered the courtyard of the Sev Steele House, this was the scene that greeted him.

His friend, the once-formidable Seventh Tier Strong Person, was actually holding a small brush like an ordinary Scavenger, meticulously scrubbing the dirt off some unfamiliar root vegetables.

He wasn’t sure if he should feel heartbroken or relieved.

He had expected to find a man lying in bed, utterly devoid of the will to live. Instead, he saw someone earnestly and carefully performing the simplest of tasks. If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he never would have believed that the renowned Judge was doing the work of a common Scavenger. More importantly, he didn’t show the slightest hint of impatience. A gentle expression even lingered on his face.

From time to time, Rick would look up to watch Rose, who was buzzing in and out like a busy little spinning top. The concern in his eyes was plain to see.

When Doctor Jenkins left yesterday, Rick Kaye had been completely consumed by despair. Yet, after being apart for less than a day, it was as if a withered tree had found spring—the man had entirely come back to life.

He wondered what kind of stimulus Rick had received to cause such a change.

Seeing the utter confusion in Doctor Jenkins’s eyes, Rick couldn’t be bothered to explain. He bluntly called out, "Since you’re here, what are you doing just standing there like a fool? Come over and help!"

"Tch. I am a dignified doctor. My precious brain and precious body are not meant for this kind of unskilled labor!" Doctor Jenkins raised his head disdainfully.

"Then why don’t you do something that requires skill?" Rick retorted.

"Hmph! I’m not going to waste my breath on you. I just came over to freeload a meal." Doctor Jenkins walked right past him and entered the kitchen.

He saw Sev busy slicing green beans into thin strips on the cutting board. With such a massive pile, he had no idea how long it would take her to finish and finally have time to cook him something delicious.

He stood off to the side and thought for a moment before using his Ability to condense a net of fine, grid-like threads. The net swept across the pile of green beans on the cutting board, instantly leaving behind a perfectly neat and uniform mound of sliced strips.

Sev stared at the scene before her, utterly dumbfounded!

This was the second time she had seen such an unconventional use for an Ability. The first time was when Rick used his Ability to condense countless tiny Thunder Blades, taking only a few minutes to dice dozens of lemon fruits into fine pieces. This time, Doctor Jenkins was even more exaggerated, completing the slicing perfectly in a single second.

Truth be told, these two were undoubtedly a pair of foodie best friends. Even in the kitchen, they could think of using their Abilities to improve work efficiency.

"See that? Applying what you’ve learned. This is what people with high IQs do," Doctor Jenkins said smugly.

"Amazing! I bow down to you!" Sev gave him a thumbs-up.

Out in the courtyard, Rick naturally hadn’t missed this scene. He said in frustration, "If my Ability was still around, you wouldn’t have the chance to show off here!"

Hearing this, Doctor Jenkins walked back out to the courtyard, wanting to use his Ability to quickly remove the dirt from the skins of the Jerusalem artichokes. Unfortunately, he couldn’t figure out a suitable method.

At this moment, he especially wished he were a Water Ability User. That way, he could simply condense a large whirlpool and wash all the artichoke tubers completely clean. As he thought about it, he unconsciously began to condense his Ability into a spiritual power vortex.

He tried sweeping a few artichoke tubers into the spiritual power vortex and then manipulated them to spin rapidly. To his surprise, after spinning for a short while, the dirt on the tubers was actually flung entirely off, leaving only a tiny bit of residue deep within the crevices. By comparison, they were actually cleaner than the ones Rick had scrubbed with the brush.

Seeing this, Rick couldn’t help but secretly give a thumbs-up. He thought, "As expected of the smartest Doctor Jenkins I know. He created a new Skill in the blink of an eye!"

He knew that if this move were used against an enemy, it would likely spin them until their world turned upside down and they saw stars! However, although he felt a sense of admiration, he absolutely refused to say it out loud. He thought, "Hmph! I’m not going to boost his ego and diminish my own prestige. I would never do such a thing!"

When Rose saw this, she looked at Doctor Jenkins with stars in her eyes. "Mr. Jenkins, you’re amazing!"

Praised by the little girl, the corners of Doctor Jenkins’s lips couldn’t help but curl up into a smile.

Standing to the side, Rick said sourly, "My little apprentice, isn’t your master amazing too?"

Rose hurriedly comforted him, "You’re also very amazing, Master!"

Upon hearing this, Doctor Jenkins instantly blew his top. "Since when did you become Rose’s master? Why didn’t I know about this?"

"Eh? You sure poke your nose into a lot of things. Do I have to report to you in advance when I take on an apprentice?" Rick shot back bluntly.

The spotlight that had been stolen from him earlier due to his inability to use his Ability was finally reclaimed.

While the two were bickering, Sev took the opportunity to chop the washed, mutated Jerusalem artichokes into one-inch cubes and place them into the water vat.
