Chapter 59 - 58: Judge

Curly could now sense that its little master was overdrawing her Ability. As her Contracted Plant, it was also affected, its entire plant body wilting and drooping.

Fortunately, it had just absorbed the Life Essence of several Mutant Rats. Otherwise, it would have been forced into a deep slumber by now.

The last time Rose absorbed a Crystal Core was on the day her Ability awakened. While she was still dazed, her mother had stuffed a massive Crystal Core into her hands.

She actually had no idea how to actively absorb the Energy within a Crystal Core. However, because she had drunk the Mutated Milk, the hidden Wood attribute Ability in her body had been activated, initiating her awakening.

During the awakening process, her body required an immense amount of Energy to replenish itself, so it spontaneously absorbed the Energy from that Crystal Core.

At this moment, holding the two Crystal Cores tightly in her palms, she didn’t even need to figure out how to absorb them. Her body felt like a vortex, and an invisible force began to actively extract the Energy from the two Crystal Cores.

When the Energy from the Wood Element Crystal Cores first entered her body, it felt cool and refreshing, like a mountain stream flowing through her veins.

But after this Energy circulated through her body once, it transformed into a warm, comforting current.

Rose felt as if she were soaking in a hot bath. It was so comfortable!

She couldn’t help but yawn, tilting her little head and falling fast asleep against the wooden crate.

Sharing a portion of the Energy from its little master’s body, Curly became fully invigorated.

It extended its vines, pulling the soundly sleeping Silvy over to act as a pillow for its little master.

Resting her head on Silvy’s soft, thick baby fur, the little girl slept even more comfortably.

The two Crystal Cores in Rose’s hands slowly turned gray, bit by bit, until they crumbled into gray powder and scattered onto the floor.

The green light radiating from her body made Silvy, who was serving as a pillow, so comfortable that it couldn’t help but grunt contentedly in its sleep.

Coco Holden also stretched its branches, desperately absorbing the motes of green light, and a few more flower buds sprouted amidst its leaves.

Meanwhile, with the Energy infused by Rose, Hayden Hanson, Seth Jennings, and Sev Steele were fully revived, continuing the battle with renewed vigor.

By the time the battle had raged on for a solid three hours, the agonizing screams of the nearby residents had gradually died down. They had likely all met their ends.

The physical stamina of Sev’s trio was once again completely depleted. Among the three young boys, Firestone and Zephyr couldn’t hold on any longer and had passed out from exhaustion.

Only Rusty remained, holding on for dear life through sheer, stubborn willpower.

He was no longer wielding a stick; instead, he held a Spray Bottle in each hand, specifically looking for gaps in the adults’ defenses to provide backup.

Just as Sev thought their defense line would ultimately be breached by the Mutant Rats due to exhaustion, Doctor Jenkins’s voice suddenly rang out, "Reinforcements have arrived!"

A few minutes after he spoke, a chorus of shrill, agonizing "SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK" cries erupted from the direction of the back wall.

The Mutant Rats that had been relentlessly gnawing and digging holes in the wall seemed to be intercepted by some invisible force. No new rats came in to replace the fallen ones.

Mustering her courage, Sev dashed into the kitchen and yanked open the metal security window.

The sight outside made her breath hitch.

In the night sky, a massive aircraft carrier hovered silently, its dozens of blindingly bright spotlights illuminating the entire Security Zone as if it were daytime.

More than a dozen metal spiral staircases extended from beneath the aircraft carrier, and a figure clad in silver Soft armor stood at the opening of each staircase.

Different-colored beams of Ability light flowed from their fingertips, like meteors in the night sky, all converging in the same direction—onto a circular platform directly beneath the aircraft carrier.

On the platform, a young man dressed in black Soft armor stood proudly, looking like an orchestra conductor on stage controlling the rhythm of all the musicians.

Below him, a gigantic purple electrical grid had already formed. It was so colossal that it covered every inch of land in the Security Zone.

With his arms spread wide, he absorbed and fused all the light beams that everyone directed onto the platform.

As the bright purple halo around his body continuously flared outward, tens of thousands of Mutant Rats collapsed and convulsed wherever the purple electrical grid touched.

Some of them frothed at the mouth, while others were instantly scorched to a crisp.

Those lucky enough to escape the purple grid frantically began digging holes to burrow into the ground, scattering and fleeing in a mad scramble.

However, the purple grid had no intention of letting them go.

Those Mutant Rats that had just dug a hole and burrowed underground had no idea that soil was conductive.

The purple grid surged through the layers of soil in pursuit, vowing to wipe them out entirely!

The Mutant Rat army was utterly routed, and the air filled with the thick smoke billowing from their scorched bodies.

On the platform, the black-armored young man finally withdrew the purple grid. The silver-armored warriors on the aircraft carrier swiftly slid down the spiral staircases and began reaping the lives of the frantically fleeing Mutant Rats.

"My God! It’s the Judge! I can’t believe his excellency actually came in person!" Seth Jennings rushed to the window, gazing up at the night sky with stars in his eyes.

His expression was like that of a believer worshipping their deity, and his voice carried an almost fanatical devotion.

"Who is the Judge?" Sev Steele asked curiously.

"He’s a legend who walked out of the ruins of the Old World. Some say he’s an emissary sent by God, always appearing when humanity is at its most desperate to turn the tide!

"It is an immense honor for our Ninth Security Zone to have the old master personally step in for people like us!" Seth said.

Sev thought, "Judging by his build, he’s clearly quite young. How is he an ’old master’? Could he be an ancient monster who knows how to maintain his youthful appearance?"

She looked at Doctor Jenkins, whose tone was perfectly normal as he explained, "His name is Rick Kaye. He is the captain of the Doomsday Judgment, the escort aircraft carrier of the Second Security Zone. That is why he is reverently addressed as the Judge.

"He is incredibly talented and is the youngest Seventh Tier Thunder Ability User on all of Planet Veridia.

"The fact that he came here to help likely means he just happened to be passing by and received the distress signal sent by the upper management of the Ninth Security Zone."

Compared to Seth’s fanatical, cult-like preaching, Doctor Jenkins’s explanation was much more credible.

When Sev heard the name Rick Kaye, a memory suddenly flashed through her mind.

In the original novel, the universally adored female protagonist, Lana Florian, had a childhood sweetheart whom she was arranged to marry since they were babies. He had braved life and death countless times to protect her.

Later, when the female lead had her fateful encounter with the male lead, all the other men around her faded into the background—naturally, this included her former childhood sweetheart.

In subsequent battles, the childhood sweetheart intentionally held back his strength on several occasions, plotting to get the male lead killed.

After the female lead discovered his sinister intentions, she teamed up with her other die-hard admirers and set numerous traps, eventually eliminating this childhood sweetheart.

In the original story, right before the childhood sweetheart died, the female lead leaned in and shed a few tears. The childhood sweetheart finally forgave her, closed his eyes, and died peacefully.

When Sev read this part, she hadn’t been able to stop herself from complaining, "With such incredible combat power, how could he die from stupidity? She was clearly shedding crocodile tears, and you still forgave her? If it were me, I definitely wouldn’t be able to rest in peace!"

The female lead had quite a few die-hard admirers in the original novel, so this childhood sweetheart who died of stupidity before Chapter eighty was quickly forgotten by Sev.

But the name Rick Kaye was still quite recognizable.

At the time, she even thought that the trash author really didn’t treat the male supporting characters as human beings!

Didn’t the name "Rick Kaye" sound exactly like "Wrecked Guy"?

No wonder he got cheated on and utterly screwed over in the end!
