Chapter 25: Conspiracy

Although Lin You the parrot had said he would teach Garfield the fat cat how to use a credit card, in his words when fooling the fat cat, nothing could be accomplished overnight. One had to take things slowly.

Yes, slowly.

So after happily finishing lunch, Lin You left happily with his owner. It was only after the two of them had completely disappeared from sight that Garfield, who had been licking his paws, suddenly let out a loud meow, startling Grandpa Albert.

“Meow—! Ao—!!”

“What about our agreement to teach me how to use the credit card?! How could you just run away like this?!”

“Garfield? What’s wrong? Are you reluctant to part with your friend?” Albert looked at the fat cat, who was waving his paws around excitedly, then comforted him. “It’s all right. I already have business dealings with Linlin’s owner. You’ll be able to see him again soon, haha. Or, once I’ve finished taking care of things in Europe, I could take you to be neighbors with Linlin. I’m sure the two of you will get along very well.”

The fat cat’s reaction finally subsided after hearing his old master’s promise. Anyway, as long as his old master was around, that parrot definitely couldn’t escape his paws!

Hmm, actually, he felt that when it came to credit cards, he might be able to try using one himself. But what was a password? Could it be eaten?

Mu Yanxiao had quite a fruitful day. In the afternoon and evening, he let his parrot happily play computer games in the house. Although Big Boss Mu couldn’t see, he could tell from his parrot’s occasional squawks just how happy he was. In fact, if he hadn’t threatened to use the voice control to turn off the power before bedtime, his parrot probably would have planned to stay up all night.

“You’re a parrot playing online games. Do your gaming buddies know?” Mu Yanxiao rested his head on his pillow and stroked the soft, delicate feathers, his voice carrying a hint of teasing.

Lin You was lying on his little soft pillow. Hearing this, he squawked disdainfully twice.

“They’re so stupid. How could they possibly know?”

“Tomorrow you have to go to the company for the annual summary meeting. Do you need me to prepare anything in advance?”

Mu Yanxiao smiled upon hearing this. “No need. Mu One and Mu Two have already taken care of most of it. You just need to remind me of the directions as usual.”

“Oh. Your company’s annual meeting. Zheng Yuhu and Chen Yuhe aren’t going to attend, are they?”

Mu Yanxiao raised an eyebrow. “Unless they’re bored out of their fucking minds.”

His tone clearly implied that if they really came, he would kick them right out.

The next day.

At 9:30 a.m., half an hour before the company’s annual meeting was scheduled to begin. Lin You had arrived at the company headquarters early with his blind master. Seeing several people arguing in the main lobby, he especially wanted to light a candle for his blind master’s jinxing mouth.

“Squawk~ Master~~ Sure enough, their balls are so fucking idle they hurt~~”

Mu Yanxiao had been walking normally, and for a moment he was stunned by Lin You’s words. Just as he was wondering why his parrot had suddenly started speaking so vulgarly, he heard several familiar voices. It seemed they were in the middle of an argument.

“Zheng Yuhu! This is Mu Corporation! Not your Zheng Family’s territory! Don’t you feel ashamed slandering Brother Mu’s reputation and character here?! You’re not welcome here. Please leave!”

“Hey, Lu Yuan, what right do you have to talk to my cousin and me like that?” Chen Yuhe’s voice was full of mockery and disdain. “Not to mention that you’re nothing more than an entertainer now. Even if we take your Lu Family’s status into consideration, you still don’t have the right to utter a single word in front of my cousin!”

“Hmph. If you keep acting so presumptuously, do you want your pharmaceutical company to go bankrupt, or do you want to be blacklisted by the entertainment industry?” Chen Yuhe smiled maliciously. “Either way, it’s just a matter of my cousin saying a few words.”

Lu Yuan’s face suddenly turned pale, his eyes filled with disbelief.

“Chen Yuhe, how can you use my company and my career to threaten me?! How can you be so despicable?”

Zheng Yuhu, who had been standing to the side without saying anything, had already caught sight of Mu Yanxiao and the others entering the lobby from the corner of his eye. Just as Chen Yuhe was about to say something else, Zheng Yuhu suddenly spoke.

“Apologize first. Then go to Huxiao Hotel tonight by yourself.”

A collective gasp went through the crowd.

Some were shocked that the eldest young master of the Zheng Family actually liked playing with men, while even more people felt genuine sympathy for Lu Yuan, whose face had turned deathly pale. After all, he had gotten into a confrontation with Zheng Yuhu for the sake of their boss, only to end up dragging himself into trouble. At this moment, even though Lin You didn’t particularly like Lu Yuan, he still felt that he couldn’t stand by and do nothing. After thinking about it, he reminded Mu Yanxiao to go over.

Mu Two and Mu Four, who were following behind Mu Yanxiao, exchanged a glance before following as well, their expressions carrying a hint of meaning.

“What’s going on?”

Mu Yanxiao’s mood had plummeted to rock bottom after running into these few people who were apparently bored out of their minds so early in the morning. Even his voice carried a noticeable chill and displeasure.

When Lu Yuan saw Mu Yanxiao and the pale gray-blue parrot approaching, the expression he had been forcing himself to maintain immediately collapsed. He shook his head, his voice trembling slightly as he tried to cover it up.

“No, it’s nothing. I just didn’t know any better and got into an argument with Young Master Zheng… It’s fine now. Brother Mu, you still have a meeting, right? I… I’ll leave first.”

From Lin You’s perspective, Lu Yuan’s expression and attitude at that moment were nothing but a forced smile, no matter which angle he looked at them from. And the look in his eyes when he looked at his master also carried a sense of attachment and inexplicable affection.

This discovery made Young Master Lin You shudder violently. Then he felt as though something was lodged in his chest, making him extremely uncomfortable. He could be certain of one thing: he genuinely disliked this person named Lu Yuan. But the problem was that Lu Yuan was showing almost indulgent goodwill toward his blind master.

“…Tsk, what a hassle.”

Lin You flapped his wings and muttered under his breath. Then, suppressing the displeasure in his heart, he yelled at Lu Yuan.

“Where the hell are you going?! Whoever leaves is a coward!!”

The perfect expression on Lu Yuan’s face froze for a moment before quickly returning to normal. Mu Yanxiao spoke with a cold expression. With his gold-rimmed glasses on, he looked as though he could see Zheng Yuhu and Chen Yuhe clearly.

“Cousins. Although it’s easy to run into each other in a place like City A, are you two really so bored that you came all the way to Mu Corporation to steal commercial secrets?”

Mu Yanxiao gave a cold snort.

“Sorry, but even if we’re related by blood, if you actually break the law, I won’t show you any mercy.”

Chen Yuhe couldn’t hold himself back and angrily retorted, “Bah! You dare?! Do you think I wanted to come to a place like yours that makes me sick just looking at it?! If it weren’t for… Uh.”

“Second Cousin, we’re only here to take a look at the situation. There’s nothing we want to investigate. You’re overthinking things.”

Zheng Yuhu interrupted Chen Yuhe, then glanced at Lu Yuan before looking at Mu Yanxiao.

“Since Second Cousin is here, Yuhe and I won’t disturb you any longer. We’ll take our leave… Oh, and congratulations on successfully closing the deal with Albert. Your parrot really is blessed.”

When Mu Yanxiao heard this, a trace of killing intent suddenly appeared on his previously expressionless face. Then he casually said, “If cousin wants one, you can find yourself a pet to raise. Maybe it’ll bring you some luck too. I won’t see you out.”

Zheng Yuhu studied Mu Yanxiao’s expression, then gave Lin You a meaningful look. Finally, he turned to Lu Yuan.

“Remember to go tonight. Otherwise, think about the consequences yourself.”

Lu Yuan let out a perfectly timed sigh, tinged with humiliation and unwillingness. Mu Yanxiao’s expression shifted slightly. Lin You flapped his wings, wanting to roll his eyes.

“…Brother Mu, if there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first.”

There was a hint of hesitation in Lu Yuan’s heart, but his expression was sincere and earnest. After saying this, he didn’t wait for Mu Yanxiao’s reply and turned to leave. But just as he was about to walk away, he heard Mu Yanxiao’s voice.

“You don’t have to go to Zheng Yuhu tonight. Come to my house and play blind chess with me.”

Lu Yuan looked up in surprise. His eyes shone with a captivating light as he quickly nodded. “Brother Mu! All right! I’ll definitely come.”

Mu Yanxiao nodded while, Young Master Lin You, perched on his shoulder, subconsciously dug his claws into his blind master’s shoulder several times.

“Linlin?” Mu Yanxiao turned his head in confusion.

Lin You snorted through his beak. “This lord doesn’t want to talk right now!”
