Chapter 58: The Cat’s Counterattack

Although Mu Yanming refused to drink the spiked red wine or choose one of the people present for that sort of thing, Sun Da and the other young rich kids showed no sign of impatience. In their eyes, Mu Yanming was already a cooked duck in their hands. Even if he grew wings, he wouldn’t be able to fly away.

So when Mu Yanming made his request, Sun Da still had Xu Bowen leave the small courtyard to find someone “clean.” Once Xu Bowen was gone, Sun Da and the others completely ignored Mu Yanming and returned to the servers beside them, still reaching for them with obvious eagerness.

Even so, Mu Yanming had no way to leave. The dozen or so bodyguards were no pushovers, and although his own bodyguards were no longer being mobbed, seven men were keeping a close eye on them in the corner of the courtyard. At this point, it seemed everyone had forgotten about the large cat with leopard-like markings and two tufts of fur sticking up from his ears, the one Mu Yanming had been carrying when they first entered the courtyard.

“Heh heh, beautiful, come over here and serve me well. If you make me happy, I’ll pay to produce a TV series for you and turn you into a household name!”

“Oh my, Young Master Sun! You have to keep your word! Just for that promise, Feifei will have to pull out all the stops for you~”

Mu Yanming nearly vomited upon hearing their exchange. Then, with a particularly uncomfortable realization, he thought that he had probably said equally ridiculous things himself a long time ago.

Up in the tree, the Cat Immortal nearly dropped the little pill in his paw when he heard that. Tsk. These generational spoiled rich brats really were a bunch of people who used nothing but money to prove they existed. They were even more troublesome than the second-generation rich and second-generation officials. At least among those two groups, there was still a decent chance of finding someone capable of preserving the family legacy or even helping it prosper.

Shaking his head, Lin the Cat Immortal quickly mixed several different medicinal powders together with his paws. Unlike the little pills, which took at least half an hour to take effect, the powder he was preparing now would work within seconds of being scattered.

A minute later, Lin You stared at the purple-red powder he had just finished preparing, his expression slightly conflicted. He wasn’t quite sure whether he should use it against the people in the courtyard. After all, this was one of the stronger medicines in his shop. Even ordinary minor spirits and low-level demons would have a hard time dealing with it. Using it on ordinary people could have rather serious consequences.

Following the principle that Daoist practitioners shouldn’t casually act against ordinary people, Young Master Lin You seriously thought it over for a full minute. In the end, he decided that he wasn’t acting casually. He was acting deliberately. So, what exactly was a principle? Could it be eaten?

In truth, the main reason Young Master Lin You decided to use the purple powder against the rich kids was something Sun Da had said to a young man in the courtyard who clearly didn’t want to be there.

“Being summoned here to serve me is your good fortune. How many people want to curry favor with me but don’t even get the chance? Don’t be so ungrateful. You need to understand that since I can bring you here, I’ve already got you in the palm of my hand. Whether you go to the police or find some so-called do-gooders, none of them can touch me! Come over and serve me properly, or I’ll have you killed and dumped into the sea. No one will be able to do a thing about it!”

Young Master Lin You was naturally rather cold and lacked much sympathy. He had even once overheard Mu One and Mu Two discussing how to dispose of the person who killed his parrot body by dumping him into the sea. Back then, he’d felt a little satisfied and even touched by their attitude. But hearing Sun Da say essentially the same thing now filled him with nothing but disgust and an overwhelming desire to castrate the bastard on the spot.

“Meow~”

With a soft meow, Lin You sighed and used his paws to scatter the yellow talismans dusted with purple powder one by one.

Miraculously, the yellow talismans seemed to have eyes of their own. Instead of falling straight to the ground after drifting down from the tree, they fluttered through the air like leaves, heading toward the rich kids who were busy fooling around and the dozen or so bodyguards.

Ahem. Since you like doing this sort of thing so much, I’ll let you enjoy yourselves to your heart’s content this time! This is a high-grade aphrodisiac that’s even highly regarded by people in the Demon Realm. Sure, the side effect is that your entire body will be limp and weak for a month afterward, but no one can deny that this is a wonderful way to settle a dispute peacefully, right?

Besides, the talismans came in both positive and negative varieties, so there was no risk of accidentally affecting the wrong person! And the price was incredibly cheap. Just 998! Take home 998 low-grade spirit stones’ worth!!

This absolutely wasn’t an advertisement. After all, this was the fastest-selling item in his shop. Shopkeeper Lin had just never understood why most of the people who came to buy the powder and talisman paper were men.

Just as the yellow talismans were about to reach their targets, a loud ringtone suddenly came from the scale-covered box beside Immortal Lin. It was loud enough to startle every bodyguard and their employer in the courtyard. The ringtone was the theme song from “The Legend of White Snake.”

Cat King Lin’s paw slipped when he heard it, and he nearly fell out of the tree. His amber cat eyes glared murderously at the custom-made pet phone that was vibrating and ringing like crazy. Countless furious roars echoed silently in his mind.

This blind owner is seriously screwing over his pet!

“Who? Who’s in the tree?!”

In an instant, the dozen or so bodyguards who had been surrounding Mu Five and the others and keeping watch over the entire courtyard all turned toward the huge parasol tree in the center.

They definitely hadn’t misheard it. That had been a phone ringtone. The entire courtyard was under their surveillance, so how could there possibly be a phone ringing here? Where had this person slipped in from? Within seconds, more than a dozen men rushed toward the parasol tree at top speed.

Because of this, the four or five quickest among them managed to escape the yellow talismans and avoid being affected by the powder. That was certainly good news for them, but for Lin the Cat Immortal, it was a terrible turn of events.

He’d gone from hiding in the shadows to being exposed in the open, from launching sneak attacks to having to fight head-on. This was simply the worst possible situation for a cat!

With one paw, Lin You snapped the scale-covered box shut and hung it across his chest. He also hung the phone around his neck. Only then did he answer the call.

Before Mu Yanxiao could even express his concern, Lin You, the enraged big cat, started roaring at his blind owner.

“Fuck! Couldn’t you check the time before calling?! How can we have absolutely no chemistry between us?! We’ve been sharing a bed for so long! How could you still drag me down at a critical moment like this?! I was about to pull off a beautiful ambush, but because of your call, your troublesome little brother’s innocence might not survive, and I might not survive either!!”

As Lin You dodged bullets fired by the bodyguards while complaining to his blind owner, Xu Bowen entered the courtyard with a young woman.

The scene before him left Xu Bowen stunned for a moment. By the time he finally understood what he was seeing, he was trembling all over and looked ready to turn around and run.

On the other end of the call, Mu Yanxiao had remained silent for several seconds after Lin You’s tirade. He finally spoke in an extremely low, grim voice.

“Mu Three tracked your location to Intoxicating Nights? Did Yanming take you there? If so, even if he loses his innocence, you absolutely cannot lose your life.”

“Linlin, hold out for ten minutes. We’ll be there soon.”

Although Mu Yanxiao’s voice held little obvious concern, Lin You immediately relaxed after hearing him. His earlier agitation and frustration eased as well. His mind was filled with a single thought.

As long as I hold out for another ten minutes, my blind owner will be here to deal with this bunch of scum!

Just thinking about it filled him with energy.

What was ten minutes? He could hold out for ten hours!

Of course, that was with the help of the medicinal powder and talismans~ But that was his own ability too, wasn’t it?

Lin You was under much less pressure now. After all, aside from the five bodyguards who had escaped the talismans and medicinal powder, the remaining eleven bodyguards and the six rich kids, including Xu Bowen, had all been hit. At this point, both the little red pill that had struck Xu Bowen’s lower leg earlier and the high-grade aphrodisiac Lin You had just prepared had taken effect.

The situation in the courtyard instantly underwent a complete reversal.

The bodyguards who had been dutifully doing their jobs suddenly flushed dark red. A certain part of their bodies, tightly confined by their trousers, began visibly swelling. At first, they were still able to restrain themselves with difficulty. But once the five rich kids other than Xu Bowen began frantically touching themselves, stripping completely naked, and shamelessly showing off, the eleven bodyguards could no longer control themselves.

With a collective low growl and wolf-like looks in their eyes, they charged toward their employers. Mu Yanming, along with the five sober bodyguards and the five or six servers who hadn’t been affected by the powder, stood there dumbfounded as they watched the eleven bodyguards and the five rich kids engage in a thoroughly inappropriate spectacle.

The sheer intensity of it, combined with the frightening cries and sounds of excitement, made Mu Yanming want to turn around and run.

“Damn… I really don’t want to think about the possibility that some spirit caused this.” Mu Yanming stared at Sun Da, who had been pinned to the ground by a burly man, and muttered, “Should I be grateful that he didn’t put me through something this inhumane and horrific back then?”

By then, Young Master Lin You had climbed back into the parasol tree. He was fairly satisfied with what he saw, although the scene was a little too awful for him to bear watching. Still, it proved that this lord absolutely wasn’t someone to mess with.

After all, he possessed spiritual power but didn’t know a single spiritual technique. If he could live freely in the cultivation world without being looked down upon by spirits, demons, ghosts, monsters, or humans, he obviously had to have a few tricks up his sleeve. Otherwise, he would have been torn apart and eaten long ago. There was no way he’d have managed to live happily until the day he was hit and killed.

Just then, Mu Yanming heard Xu Bowen let out a miserable scream. He quickly turned his head and saw Xu Bowen clutching at his clothes and skin in terror, shouting nonstop.

“Go away! Get lost! Stay away from me! You damned poisonous snakes and evil ghosts! I hate snakes the most! Get away! Get away! You, you, and you! I didn’t kill you! You were the ones who wouldn’t listen! You wanted to use the children in your bellies to marry into the Xu Family! But think about it. How could whores like you, with no status or standing at all, possibly be worthy of becoming Xu Family wives?! I’m going to use the position of Xu Family wife for a major marriage alliance! That’s why you all have to die! You all have to die!!”

Mu Yanming’s mouth twitched violently. Then a glint flashed through his eyes, and he leisurely took out his phone and started recording.

Well, only a fool passes up an opportunity to take advantage of someone else’s misfortune. That was a golden rule his brother had taught him, and Mu Yanming felt it applied perfectly here. Besides, there was nothing more satisfying than using the very method these people had planned to use against him to make them disgrace themselves and put their own leverage into his hands.

Just as Mu Yanming pulled out his phone and started recording, the five bodyguards who hadn’t been affected finally came to their senses. With dark expressions, they lunged toward him, determined to stop him from recording the scene. Otherwise, they would never be able to show their faces in this line of work again. But without the advantage of numbers, things were different.

Mu Five, Mu Nine, and Mu Ten, who had been standing in the corner, rolled their wrists and necks, their faces filled with fierce anticipation of revenge. Then they charged at the five bodyguards.

Three against sixteen had been impossible, and there was nothing to say about that. But three against five? Did they really think they couldn’t handle that?

If they didn’t beat these guys half to death, they wouldn’t deserve to have been trained by the Mu Family’s own inhuman Devil Mu One! And so, the situation in the courtyard of Intoxicating Nights underwent a complete reversal.

Mu Yanming and the others had gone from being at a disadvantage to taking control of the situation. All they had to do now was stay where they were and wait for Mu Yanxiao to arrive. Yet for some reason, Lin You, crouched in the tree, still felt a faint sense of unease.

It seemed that even though victory appeared certain, he had overlooked something important, something that could pose a tremendous danger to them.

…What could it be?

Lin You unconsciously scratched at the tree trunk, growing increasingly restless.

He had to figure it out. Fast.
