Volume 1, Chapter 206 – Return Journey
Those who heed advice get to eat their fill.
Since Wu Xu had already warned her, Shi Lan naturally had no intention of staying any longer in the Boundless Demon Domain.
A Blackjade Leopard more than six zhang long lay at the entrance of the cave. The moment it saw Shi Lan approaching, its eyes lit up. It hurriedly shrank its body, scrambled to its feet, wagged its tail, and went forward to greet her.
“Your Excellency…”
Looking at Tianbai’s fawning expression, Shi Lan fell into brief contemplation.
After musing for two seconds, Shi Lan reached out and patted Tianbai on the head. “Cultivate well.”
At present, she did not really know what to say. After returning to the Vast Land of Shenzhou, whether she would ever come back here again was uncertain.
Even though there was still a newly born “Lan Clan” here.
Shi Lan still did not have any deep understanding of the demon race’s notion of kinship. A connection formed so easily did not carry much weight in her heart.
Tianbai instantly looked as if it had been injected with chicken blood. Its tail spun in circles, and its fur faintly reddened, as though it had received encouragement from Shi Lan.
Seeing the excited look on Tianbai’s face, Shi Lan patted its head again and reminded it,
“Never go east. Stay far away from the Vast Land of Shenzhou. Remember that.”
Tianbai nodded repeatedly. There was no need for it to think about Shi Lan’s meaning. It only had to obey.
Shi Lan brushed her Qiankun Bracelet, and a transparent orb about half a chi in diameter appeared in her hand. Golden mist drifted within it, and the faint sound of dragon roars echoed from inside.
This was one of the many treasures Cangyue had brought last time.
The dragon pearl of a Great Perfection Heavenly Astral Realm golden dragon.
That day, Shi Lan had clearly seen Tianbai’s yearning for this dragon pearl.
This could count as compensation for all its running around during this period.

Tianbai instinctively caught the dragon pearl that Shi Lan tossed over. It sat there blankly on the ground, unable to recover its senses.
Shi Lan withdrew her hand and stepped into the cave. It was time to head back…
Only after a long while did Tianbai finally come to its senses. It spat out the dragon pearl, held it carefully in both paws, stared at it for a long time, then tentatively stuck out its tongue and gave it a lick.
“Slurp—”
Tianbai’s eyes shone brightly, and the twin horns on its head trembled uncontrollably. It really was a dragon pearl…
…
While Tianbai was licking the dragon pearl, countless terrifying auras drew endless demon clouds across the sky and crossed through space toward the southeast.
Clack—
The dragon pearl dropped from Tianbai’s mouth onto the ground. Its body trembled, and a chill rose in its heart.
Any one of the terrifying auras streaking across the sky could easily crush it to death.
The expressions of Cangyue and the other two Demon Kings were grim. Those terrifying great demons were all headed toward that barren land from earlier.
What exactly had Her Excellency done there, to cause such an enormous disturbance?
Cangyue wanted to go take a look, but remembering what Shi Lan had said earlier, he stopped in his tracks. After hesitating for a long while, he abandoned the idea.
…
The terrain formed by the convergence of ninety-nine dragon veins had already collapsed into nothingness.
That earth vein which had been bound for hundreds of thousands of years had finally broken free in a single day. Like a dragon returning to the sea, it immediately plunged deep underground, leaving not the slightest trace to be found.
A gigantic fissure more than a thousand zhang wide had split open through the middle of the mountain range, like an abyss leading into the netherworld.

Many great demons surrounded the area tightly, staring at the crack in the center, yet not daring to act rashly.
The pressure that had swept out moments ago had been far too terrifying, filling these great demons with fear.
Buzz…
A spatial rift appeared directly above the fissure, and a figure staggered out of it.
The newcomer was a man around thirty years old, of average build, with strikingly beautiful features. His brows held a trace of agitation, his hair at the temples slightly disheveled. Several tears had been ripped through his clothing, and beneath them wounds were steadily spilling blood. He looked extremely bedraggled.
“Su Banyun? How did he end up in such a sorry state?”
“Why has he come here?”
“Is the Su clan getting involved too?”
Several great demons recognized the man and began exchanging voice transmissions.
After sweeping his gaze over the surroundings, the man let out a long breath of relief. A sneer touched his lips as he looked behind him.
Not far away, another spatial rift opened immediately after the first. The sound of sword cries pierced through the void and echoed between heaven and earth as a streak of cyan sword light shot out, instantly slashing down toward the man’s head.
“Bastard!”
The man’s expression changed drastically. Demon qi burst out of him as he struck out with a force of law to defend himself, then he let out a sharp roar. “Everyone, please lend me a hand! My Su clan will richly reward you!”
The moment they heard Su Banyun’s words, several great demons acted without the slightest hesitation. The Su clan held enormous prestige in the Boundless Demon Domain, enough to move them to act.
Several great demons attacked together, their might shaking heaven and earth, instantly shattering the cyan sword light.
A white-robed figure emerged slowly from the spatial rift, a cyan ancient sword in hand.
Su Banyun glanced at the Heaven Demons who had acted, then looked at the white-robed man and sneered. “You’ve hunted me for months on end. Still not satisfied?!”

“To the death.”
Yan Mobei paid no attention to the surrounding great demons. He lifted the long sword in his hand once more and spoke indifferently.
“How dare a mere human act so brazenly in the Boundless Demon Domain? Why don’t you hurry up and await death with your neck outstretched!”
“You don’t know the immensity of heaven and earth!”
“Die for this Sovereign!”
Yan Mobei’s utterly dismissive attitude instantly enraged the great demons. They roared in fury, their auras surging, and were about to strike.
Buzz—
Just as the situation was about to explode, a deep sword cry rang out across heaven and earth. The void churned like a surging tide, rippling with wave after wave.
An incomparably terrifying pressure slowly awakened and suppressed the entire world.
The great demons surrounding the area trembled all over. Unable to withstand the pressure, they crashed to the ground. The weaker ones could not even stand and were pinned flat against the earth, utterly unable to move.
Su Banyun was like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. After glancing at the fissure below, he immediately tore open space again and tried to flee without hesitation.
Yan Mobei pressed his lips together tightly. The cyan ancient sword in his hand trembled lightly, transmitting its own sensations to him.
A Sovereign Weapon was awakening…
A gray longsword slowly floated up from the fissure. It was four chi long and incomparably ancient in appearance.
Click—
The blade emerged from the scabbard by less than half a cun.
Sword light flooded heaven and earth, pressing down upon the demon beasts kneeling all around, as well as the great demons who had not yet managed to flee very far.

Boom!
The pressure was like a boundless ocean, crushing the void. Countless members of the demon race were instantly annihilated by the sword light, reduced to dust. Of the several great demons fleeing in the distance, most also failed to escape with their lives.
With one sword strike, ten thousand demons were slain. The killing intent was world-shaking, and in an instant the surrounding air was thick with the smell of blood.
This was Sovereign’s might. Even though the Sovereign was already dead and only the Sovereign Weapon remained, it still possessed a terrifying power beyond ordinary imagination.
Wu Xu, dressed in a gray robe, slowly stepped out of the fissure. His expression was calm. He showed not the slightest concern over the huge number of demon race cultivators he had just killed, as though he had merely crushed a swarm of ants.
“Greetings, Senior…”
Yan Mobei’s expression turned solemn as he cupped his hands in salute, without the least trace of arrogance. He already knew Wu Xu’s approximate background, so calling him Senior came as naturally as breathing.
After looking Yan Mobei over from head to toe, Wu Xu let out a soft sigh. “A pity. You came one step too late.”
In terms of the sword path, the man before him was actually more suited than Shi Lan to bear Guiyun’s Dao Fruit. The sword Daos of the two were astonishingly similar, almost as if they had come from the same source.
It was only that the timing had been slightly off.
Of the two words destiny and chance, ninety-nine percent lay in that final word: chance.
“What do you mean, Senior?”
Yan Mobei looked somewhat bewildered.
Wu Xu shook his head slightly. Taking the sheathed longsword into his hand, he pressed his palm downward. After the mountains overturned in a violent upheaval, the fissure in the earth slowly closed.
“So be it. In the end, it was only a chance meeting.”
After doing all this, Wu Xu murmured softly to himself. A point of spiritual light appeared at his fingertip and slowly drifted toward Yan Mobei.
