Volume 1, Chapter 266 – Mission

Buzz.

The halberd-shadow rose across the sky. Powerful blood and qi surged out of Shi Lan’s body. With a transformed Demon King in front of her, she could no longer afford to suppress the flow of her blood and qi. Her silver hair flew wildly as she unleashed her full strength.

Sensing the icy killing intent pouring from Shi Lan, the white-robed Demon King’s expression grew even more frenzied, as if provoked. He raised an arm, extended a tiger claw, and grabbed straight for the battle halberd.

Boom!

The astral qi wrapped around the halberd-shadow exploded, turning into a fierce astral gale that swept in all directions. The beast horde surrounding them was thrown flying, instantly clearing out an open space.

Shi Lan retreated three steps in a row. The city wall beneath her feet could not withstand that enormous force and split apart inch by inch, collapsing by several zhang.

Shi Lan’s physique far surpassed that of ordinary Heavenly Astral Realm martial artists. Back in the Earth Fiend Realm, she had already possessed the strength to uproot mountains. Now that she had entered the Heavenly Astral Realm, no one knew just how terrifying her physical strength had become. In terms of the fleshly body alone, she was hardly inferior to a Myriad Phenomena Realm martial artist.

The white-robed Demon King had never expected Shi Lan’s strength to be so monstrous. On top of that, his bloodline was being stripped away, and he had already been badly wounded. His body staggered backward and flew through the air, tumbling nearly a hundred zhang. His white robes, already stained with blood, were now smeared with dust, and none of their original color could be seen.

Shi Lan emerged from the beast horde. The scattered Demon-Suppressing Army soldiers nearby quickly gathered around again and re-formed their army formation, faintly encircling the white-robed Demon King.

After steadying herself, Shi Lan was completely unharmed. Reassured, the fierce light in her eyes did not lessen in the slightest. Force burst from beneath her feet, shattering another section of the city wall as she soared into the air. The battle halberd in her hand swept through half a circle like a waning moon and came chopping down vertically.

Empowered by the blood and qi of the army formation, Shi Lan’s aura became even more terrifying. The baleful force of this strike was shocking enough to kill this Demon King on the spot.

The white-robed Demon King came back to his senses. Killing intent burned in his eyes like flames. His throat shifted, letting out a low tiger’s roar as the surrounding heaven-and-earth origin qi came surging in and poured into his body.

The cultivation of a transformed Demon King was unfathomable. With a single breath, like a whale swallowing the sea, he nearly drained the surrounding spiritual qi dry. Clearly, he had unleashed a powerful demon art, allowing himself to recover part of his battle strength for a short time.

A white flash passed by. The white-robed Demon King vanished from where he stood and then instantly appeared at Shi Lan’s side. His body had swelled by a full measure and now stood nearly a zhang tall. His formerly pitch-black eyes had become a pair of miserable green vertical pupils, and his sharp teeth interlocked in a savage mess. He had already become half man, half tiger, with towering demonic qi coiling around him.

“Roar!”

The tiger’s roar split metal and shattered stone, almost shaking the heavens and stabbing pain into Shi Lan’s eardrums.

A terrifying force slammed into Shi Lan’s waist. The white-robed Demon King smashed through the halberd-shadow with his head, ignoring the bloody gashes sliced across his face, and like a hunting tiger he opened his jaws and bit into Shi Lan’s waist and abdomen.

The two figures tangled together and fell from the sky like meteors, crashing into Xianwu City. They shattered hundreds of pavilions and towers and vanished into a stretch of ruins. Countless mortals were caught in the aftermath and died on the spot.

“Thousand Commander!”

“Shi Lan!”

Quite a few people noticed the sudden change on this side, and cries of alarm rang out.

Shi Lan came back to herself from the dizzying whirl. A fierce pain wracked her waist and abdomen. Lowering her head for a glance, she saw a beast’s eye full of savage delight. Behind those interlocking fangs, the white-robed Demon King had clamped down hard on her midsection. Pale violet spiritual blood kept pouring out and was swallowed into his belly.

The Innate spiritual blood within Shi Lan’s body was, to the demon race, no different from the supreme tonic. Even Heaven Demons would covet it.

The white-robed Demon King’s hands pressed down tightly on the battle halberd in Shi Lan’s grip as he gulped down her blood. As the spiritual blood entered his body, an almost crazed look of intoxication appeared on his face. He could feel some unpredictable transformation taking place within him.

As her spiritual blood continued to drain away, Shi Lan’s face gradually turned pale. She tried to struggle, only to discover that the battle halberd had been pinned down and pressed against her body, restricting her movements.

Looking at the Demon King still guzzling her blood, Shi Lan showed not the slightest fear in her eyes. With a thought, she tightened the muscles of her waist and abdomen, stopping the flow of spiritual blood, and then released the halberd.

By now, the white-robed Demon King had almost lost his sanity. When he found that the gushing spiritual blood had stopped, he anxiously bit down harder and began madly tearing at Shi Lan’s waist and abdomen, yet not even a single drop of spiritual blood appeared.

Before he could clamp down harder again, a terrifying heavy blow struck the back of his head, nearly smashing his skull. Involuntarily, he loosened his jaws, and his mind nearly went blank.

Shi Lan tore her waist and abdomen free, shot out a hand in a ring, and locked it tightly around the neck of the mad tiger before her, giving him no chance to catch his breath. With one hand forming a seal before her chest, she smashed several Heaven Extremity Seals onto his forehead, producing heavy booms like war drums.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Blood splashed everywhere. The white-robed Demon King’s skull was nearly shattered, splitting open in lines of blood.

“Roar!”

Furious beast roars rang out one after another. He began struggling wildly, yet he could not break free from that arm, which looked so slender.

Shi Lan was already somewhat lacking in blood and qi to begin with, and the massive loss of spiritual blood had also taken away much of her strength. As the mad tiger struggled more and more violently, she gradually began to run out of stamina.

While increasing the force in her arm, Shi Lan spread out the Black Domain. It unfurled behind her and condensed into thread after thread, like countless fine needles, piercing into the sturdy body before her and beginning to frantically draw out his essence blood.

No matter how much spiritual blood he had just swallowed, Shi Lan would make him pay it back with interest.

As an endless stream of essence blood entered her body, color gradually returned to Shi Lan’s face, and even the wound in her abdomen began to show faint signs of healing.

Punch after punch, like crashing waves against a shore, slammed into the white-robed Demon King’s skull. The beast roars grew more and more frenzied, but as time passed, they weakened more and more until at last there was only silence.

[Main Mission completed. Reward issued.]

[Congratulations, Host. You have obtained the Secret Canon of Spirit Refinement: Soul-Expansion Chapter, and x1 Heavenly Nether Jade.]

Shi Lan had no time to listen to the system’s message. Clutching her waist and abdomen, she climbed to her feet. Corpses were already piled all around her, most of them mortals who had died in the aftermath of the battle just now.

The Black Domain was far too overbearing. The white-robed Demon King’s body, originally nearly a zhang tall, had been reduced to less than four chi of dry bones. At a touch, it collapsed and scattered across the ground as dust.

Shi Lan felt no discomfort at this. Demons ate humans, and humans ate demons. It was only natural. These Demon Kings were, in essence, nothing more than demons wrapped in human skin.

Shi Lan had no time to gather the corpses around her. Gripping her battle halberd, she once more climbed onto the city wall. The moment she stepped onto it, she saw Bai Weiyang trapped in the middle of a heavy siege.

Bai Weiyang had long been besieged by several great demons. Drawn by the attraction of the Human Emperor bloodline, there were even two Nascent Soul great demons among them. Two fists could not withstand four hands. He had only been bitterly holding on, and cracks now covered the four-chi jade sword in his hand.
