Volume 1, Chapter 314 – The Zheng Family
Shi Lan did not make a grand entrance into the city. She stopped traversing the void several dozen li outside the city, dropped to the ground, and walked toward the city before her.
As she walked, Shi Lan activated the Myriad Transformation Sacred Robe to conceal her true appearance. As things stood, her original form looked rather demonic and far too eye-catching.
Lightly stroking the Myriad Transformation Sacred Robe on her body, Shi Lan could not help feeling a little grateful. Fortunately, she had not left it behind in the stone chamber that day, or the loss would have been enormous.
Although the Myriad Transformation Sacred Robe was only four-star in rank, it had saved her no small amount of trouble.
Even walking, Shi Lan was far faster than a mortal running at full speed, and it did not take her long to arrive at the city gate.
This city was not small. Its walls stood more than thirty zhang high, and three large characters were carved on the gate tower: Fengning City.
Armored soldiers stood guard at the entrance, every one of them full of blood and qi, with killing intent on their faces. They were clearly battle-hardened elites.
Not far from the gate there was also a watchtower, and beneath it sat a gold-armored commander. His cultivation was not weak, comparable to the Earth Fiend Realm, enough to be called a match for ten thousand men.
But to the current Shi Lan, that level of cultivation was no longer worth noting.
Inspection at the gate was rather strict. Soldiers were holding portraits and comparing them one by one, as if they were searching for someone, but Shi Lan was not stopped when she entered the city.
The city itself was quite lively. Shops on both sides of the street welcomed a constant stream of customers, making the whole place seem very prosperous.
Shi Lan spread out her divine sense, took a few turns around the streets, and quickly obtained some of the information she wanted.
This star was called Yaoyun Star. There was no imperial dynasty on Yaoyun Star. Two continents were separated by a vast ocean, and thousands of cities were scattered across them, governed by sects and gangs. Among them, three great sects were the strongest and stood far above the rest.
What disappointed Shi Lan somewhat was that she did not hear the slightest news about transmission formations, nor was there much information regarding other stars.

These people did not even know that the sky above their heads had already changed.
Clearly, there were not many true experts on this star, and they were unable to touch upon the changes beyond the stars themselves.
Chengtian Domain had been ravaged by war and left desolate everywhere one looked, and the Ancient Phoenix City she had recently been to was still in the middle of rebuilding. Tianbai had never seen such a lively scene before, and it gave him no small shock.
Shi Lan also rarely had the urge to relax a little, so she took Tianbai along to stroll the streets.
Whether it was cultivation methods and pills, magical artifacts and talismans, or even jewelry and dresses, Shi Lan had no interest in any of it.
What truly drew her enthusiasm were all kinds of unheard-of delicacies.
Flood-dragon buns, Seven-Treasure sliced fish, dragon saliva crisps, mirror-fish soup, Ruyi cakes, snowflake sweet broth, roasted dragonfish, mandarin-duck cups…
Tianbai had originally been fascinated by absolutely everything, but after tasting a few bites of what Shi Lan tossed him, everything else in his eyes immediately lost its color, and he kept circling around her legs.
After all, eating was one of the great principles of heaven and earth, even if the food in front of them only satisfied their appetites.
Fortunately, spirit crystals were hard currency here as well, so Shi Lan was not reduced to the awkward state of only being able to look.
Shi Lan rarely indulged herself like this. Today, she did not suppress her nature any further, and with her thoughts clear and unobstructed, her cultivation actually improved a little.
What even she had not noticed was that, after merging with the memories of the first twenty years of this life, something fundamental within her had already quietly changed.
“What a well-behaved little thing.”

A soft cry of admiration came from not far away. Shi Lan swallowed the spirit lamb meat in her mouth and turned her head to look.
A group of six people stood not far away. At the front was a young man and woman. The man was handsome, and the woman was petite and delicate, with skin as white as snow.
The other four were all burly men dressed like servants.
Shi Lan took one glance and immediately saw through the basics of the group. The two in front did not have high cultivation. Both were dressed in fine clothes, and with expert guards behind them, they were clearly from wealthy families.
The young woman stared at Tianbai at Shi Lan’s feet, unable to hide the delight in her eyes.
Tianbai was only about a chi long now. His fur was snowy white, and the horns on his forehead no longer looked fierce. Instead, they made him seem all the more adorably foolish and lovable.
Seeing this, the young man glanced at Tianbai and stepped forward.
“My friend has always liked spirit pets. Seeing this one, she has taken quite a liking to it. May I ask whether Miss would be willing to part with it?”
Shi Lan shook her head, somewhat displeased at having her mood interrupted. She lowered her hand, patted Tianbai on the head, and turned to leave.
“Miss, just name your price. I absolutely won’t haggle.”
The young man took a few steps forward and blocked Shi Lan’s path, while the servants also, whether intentionally or not, obstructed her way.
When the passersby around them saw this, they all retreated some distance to protect themselves first, then began watching the scene intently.
Shi Lan’s gaze sharpened slightly. The man before her looked mild and courteous on the surface, but there was strength and insistence in everything he did, which made her dislike him.

“You can’t afford him,” Shi Lan said calmly.
“Miss need only name the price. I would imagine there is nothing in Fengning City that my Yang family cannot afford.”
The young man smiled faintly, with a trace of pride hidden in his expression.
The young woman beside him looked as though she wanted to speak, but in the end she still said nothing to stop him.
Tianbai had long since understood human speech, and he knew that Shi Lan’s dignity had been slighted. He was already growing impatient, and a trace of ferocity appeared in his eyes.
He was obedient and docile in front of Shi Lan, but that did not mean this had ever been his true nature. He had originally been a savage beast.
Shi Lan glanced at Tianbai. Seeing the fur on his back stand up slightly, her mood suddenly improved a good deal, and the corners of her lips curved faintly.
“His temper is a bit violent. You won’t be able to keep him under control.”
The young man froze for a moment, then laughed.
“Miss jests. This little fellow…”
Before he could finish, a dark shadow rose and covered his head, blocking out the sunlight.
Tianbai revealed part of his true form. His body swelled to more than five zhang long, cutting off the entire street.
“Roar!”

That beastly roar almost scared the young man’s soul out of his body. His face turned deathly pale, and the young woman’s beauty drained of color in an instant as well.
The guards’ expressions changed drastically. Though afraid, they still stepped forward and shielded the young man behind them.
Shi Lan stepped forward and soothed Tianbai a few times. She was not so petty as to truly get angry over such trivial friction.
As silence fell over the surroundings, a terrifying divine sense that seemed to stretch from heaven to earth swept across the entirety of Yaoyun Star. Ordinary people felt nothing at all, but Shi Lan’s hair stood on end instantly. She lifted her head to look at the sky, her expression grave.
…
Outside Yaoyun Star, hundreds of warships had somehow come to a stop in the starry sky, faintly divided into three factions.
“A low-grade life-bearing star. Its strongest people are only at the Myriad Phenomena Realm. Still, there are a few spirit mines of fairly good quality here, so it is not entirely without value.”
“This star, my Zheng family is taking it.”
From one warship came a calm voice, its tone full of domineering confidence, as though it were merely stating something utterly ordinary.
At the top of the warship, a king banner bearing the character Zheng fluttered in the wind, and its vast pressure swept through the starry sky like a declaration.
“This is the Illusory Star Domain, not the Vast Land of Shenzhou.”
“Even in the Vast Land of Shenzhou, your Zheng family is not qualified to cover the sky with one hand!”
