A thousand beginner lottery draws cost no more than a million reputation points. Shi Lan did not feel much heartache over it. Early investment was necessary.
There was no way to choose a prize category in the beginner lottery, and the things drawn were far too miscellaneous. Shi Lan directly blocked the system notifications and began looking over what she had just obtained.
From the twenty mid-level lottery draws, she had gotten three six-star magic treasures, five five-star magic treasures, four four-star magic treasures, and the rest were all three-star.
She had not drawn any two-star items, so her luck was not bad.
With a wave of her hand, Shi Lan opened the system’s temporary storage and took out all twenty magic treasures.
The twenty rare treasures filled the entire stretch of empty space. Shi Lan swept her gaze over them and found nothing she could use herself. After all, with her current body, she could already take ordinary Dao weapons head-on with her bare hands. Normal magic treasures were no longer of much use to her.
“You two may each take two. Distribute the rest to the Golden Core disciples according to strength.”
Li Canglan did not stand on ceremony. He immediately took two items, one being the six-star magic treasure Azure Nether Stele, and the other a five-star cauldron-shaped defensive magic treasure.

Lin Lang took only the Moon-Scorching Blade, then stared at a gauze dress, unable to decide.
It was a four-star magic treasure, the Spirit-Hidden Immortal Robe, a rare protective robe that combined offense and defense.
“Lin Lang’s wife is also in the secret realm. She is at the late stage of Foundation Establishment,” Li Canglan explained to Shi Lan by voice transmission.
Shi Lan understood. She raised a hand and directly pushed the Spirit-Hidden Immortal Robe toward him, then drew out another six-star magic treasure and sent it over to Lin Lang as well.
Lin Lang hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth and accepted them.
“Thank you, Sect Master.”
Shi Lan waved a hand and looked at Li Canglan.
“Gather the men at once and follow me back to Yunyan Star.”
“Yes!”

The things obtained from those thousand beginner lottery draws were far too miscellaneous. A third of them were all sorts of pills. Aside from talismans and tools, there was also a small portion of odds and ends. The remaining magical artifacts and magic treasures numbered only two or three hundred.
Spread out evenly, the Tianyan Sect disciples accompanying Shi Lan out of the mountain could barely manage one item per person, but with the addition of talismans, they at least had a bit of combat power.
The disciples were all rather excited. In Li Canglan’s description, Yunyan Star was hardly any worse than the legendary immortal paradise.

Once everything was prepared, Shi Lan opened a spacetime passage and led the three hundred disciples onto the return journey.

The moment they stepped onto the surface of Yunyan Star, all the Tianyan Sect disciples, including Lin Lang, felt a wave of discomfort. The shackles of heaven and earth were far too heavy, suppressing their strength until less than a tenth remained.
That sudden, enormous drop in strength made their inner qi churn, to the point that they nearly coughed up blood. Even Li Canglan found it extremely hard to adapt, since by now he had been away from this land for a full fifteen years.
Shi Lan, however, did not feel much about it. She had gradually become used to this disparity in strength.
[…]
Several hundred new auras suddenly appeared above the barren mountain, stirring no small amount of alarm among the great families across Yunyan Star.
Those barren mountains were watched almost at all times, yet no one had noticed how these hundreds of people had appeared.
The four royal clans of Qin, Zhao, Hou, and Li, each with a Heaven-Man in command, felt an even colder chill along their spines. These ghostlike movements made them think of the people from beyond this world who had descended not long ago.
Shi Lan glanced over the disciples around her. True qi and immortal power moved together within her body, and her voice rolled like thunder, spreading across the nine heavens. Even a thousand li away, it could still be heard clearly.
“I come from beyond this world. I have come here to found a sect and spread the Dao. Regardless of aptitude, regardless of background, all may enter.”
With that first sentence alone, Shi Lan extinguished the thoughts of interference that the great royal clans outside had harbored. They had originally come intending to interfere with Tianyan Sect’s founding, and even to seize its arts, but the words “beyond this world” made them go cold all over.
That massacre was still vivid in their minds. Of the seven great powerful races apart from the human race, every one had been exterminated. King-level experts had been slaughtered like pigs and dogs with the casual sweep of a hand.
With such a bloody outcome still fresh before their eyes, they naturally did not dare offend these “people from beyond this world” again. If disaster followed, it would mean the destruction of their entire clan.

“Those who enter my sect must understand one thing!”
“Learn my methods, and you inherit my heavenly mandate. Once you do, there is no turning back!”
Her cool voice reverberated through the air and rode the wind into the distance, leaving the lands for a thousand li utterly silent, as if winter had descended.
Shi Lan had already given her warning. Whether or not to join was entirely each person’s own choice. She would not deceive the world over some so-called vague and illusory karma.
Even if, in the end, no one shared that heaven-shaking karma with her, then she would bear it alone.
If she could not bear it, then she would bear it to the death!
After giving the warning, Shi Lan immediately sent out the three hundred disciples to recruit new disciples into the sect.
Before they set off, Shi Lan called Li Canglan to her side and gave him a quiet instruction.
“As for disciples from the great families, if they wish to join, there is no need to make things difficult for them. Depending on the weight of their background, charge an appropriate entrance fee.”
Shi Lan had no choice but to do this. Cultivation resources were not so easy to obtain, and even the landlord had no surplus grain. If they did not find some way to bring in income, the entire sect would be left to live on nothing but the northwest wind.

Li Canglan stood before the barren mountain with the disciples, looking at the sea of people before him. Even though the years had made him far steadier, at this moment he still found it difficult to suppress the excitement in his heart.
At this point, Tianyan Sect had already become his entire spiritual support, his only hope for vengeance in the future. He longed for Tianyan Sect to grow strong even more than Shi Lan did.

After calming himself for a moment, Li Canglan publicly read out the sect rules and precepts that Shi Lan had established.
“Those guilty of murder, arson, rape, kidnapping, or plunder shall be executed immediately!”
“Those who bully the weak by relying on strength shall be executed immediately!”
“Those who abuse power and act lawlessly shall be executed immediately!”
“Those who disregard all moral order and law shall be executed immediately!”
“Those who sow chaos among fellow disciples or split the sect shall be executed immediately!”
“Those with the ability to act, yet refuse to step forward when witnessing injustice, shall have their Dao foundation destroyed and be expelled from the sect!”
“Any who, without cause, insult our sect or harm our brothers and sisters among the disciples shall all be executed!”
In Shi Lan’s view, sect rules and precepts were the bottom line of a sect. They represented a forbidden boundary that could never be violated.
If a sect’s ethos rotted and decayed, then its destruction would only be a matter of time.
In Shi Lan’s eyes, Tianyan Sect was not merely a tool to help her bear karma. When it came to responsibilities that ought to be shouldered, she would not evade even the slightest part of them.
As soon as the seven prohibitions were announced, many people changed expression. Quite a few present had impure motives, and more than just one or two had problems with their character. Faced with such severe sect rules, they hesitated and shrank back.
Another portion of the crowd, however, had their eyes light up. Among these seven prohibitions, there was no rule forbidding the techniques of the sect from being passed outside…
