Volume 1, Chapter 350 – Curtain Falls
The host of peak powerhouses surrounding the area looked at the indistinct figures within the rows of coffins, and for a moment, all of them arrived at the same guess, their expressions shaken.
“Great Emperor Linglong!”
Among the Human Emperor clans and second-grade sects watching from afar, many heavenly prodigies also recognized Great Emperor Linglong’s figure.
Her peerless bearing was enough for anyone to remember at a single glance.
Linglong’s divine sense swept across heaven and earth, and within her gaze was a trace of regret that ordinary people could never understand.
The laws of heaven and earth roared. Because of her arrival, countless phenomena were born. She had attained the Dao in Lingyang, so the laws of this world would naturally resonate with her.
Threads of law imprints gathered into a vast ocean, then finally transformed into a divine waterfall of laws stretching across countless miles, cascading downward. Brilliant rosy light filled the entire world, completely wrapping Linglong’s remnant soul within it.
As the people nearby were washed by the waterfall of laws, all of their spiritual platforms became clear and bright. Their understanding of the laws of heaven and earth rose sharply, and they benefited immensely.
The many agitated Sovereign Weapons once again fell into slumber, while the Heaven Extremity Blade drew in its entire aura and went dormant.
Rumble…
That terrifying phenomenon lasted for less than the time it took to drink a cup of tea before slowly dispersing. Layer upon layer of dark clouds gathered in the sky, condensing into tribulation clouds covering a radius of hundreds of thousands of miles. A few breaths later, at the center of the tribulation clouds, a gigantic face condensed, emotionless and indifferent. As its eyelids opened and closed, Heavenly Dao seals flickered within them.
“Lingyang is no longer as it was in the ancient era. The Heavenly Dao is incomplete…”
Linglong raised her head to look at the sky, her voice ethereal and unreal as it carried into the ninefold heavens.
The immense, emotionless face in the sky stared at Linglong for half a quarter-hour, then gradually dispersed.

Everyone present felt their hearts grow heavy. Even mighty figures who had stepped into the Heaven-Man Realm felt a chill run down their spines. Though the tribulation clouds had not covered a vast range, the aura they carried far surpassed the world-destroying great tribulation one faced upon entering the Emperor level.
That giant face with its indifferent expression caused the Human Emperors present to turn grim, as if they had sensed something. Their brows darkened.
Even figures at the absolute peak of the Emperor level might not necessarily survive under such heavenly punishment.
Linglong swept her gaze across the crowd. Her eyes passed through the blockade and saw the many slumbering Sovereign Weapons, and sorrow surfaced faintly within them. She had seen several objects that had once belonged to old friends.
All of those old friends had already departed this world, yet after death their battle weapons still continued to fight for the human race, even though some of their Sovereign spirits had already reached the state of a dying candle in wind and flame.
Seeing the expressions on the faces of the Human Emperors, dazzling immortal light overflowed from Linglong’s clear eyes. Wrapped in Great Dao laws, heavenly sound shook beyond the nine heavens.
“On the path of cultivation, strengthen the Dao of nature. The heart must come first, the body after. If the heart is steadfast, strength will be full. If one but holds fast and never lets go, there will come a day when the end of the road is seen. Heaven and earth show grace to living beings, bestowing all things with generous virtue; one should therefore hold gratitude in one’s heart…”
An ancient scripture for cleansing the heart flowed out with that heavenly sound, washing over everyone’s hearts and souls. It was like a heavenly blade that severed evil and shattered corruption, cutting away the distracting thoughts in their minds.
One Human Emperor was the first to recover himself. The gloom between his brows vanished, Emperor laws surged around him, and within the projection of his illusory Emperor Domain appeared a vast Luotian starry sky.
Shock appeared in many eyes, while several nearby Human Emperors showed a trace of envy.
“Who is that man?”
Seeing the astonishment in their elders’ eyes, some heavenly prodigies could not restrain themselves and quietly asked. Their realms were still too low; they could not understand many of the profound meanings within the ancient scripture carried by the Great Emperor’s heavenly sound, only feeling that their hearts had become much clearer.
“This person has already stepped into the Luotian Realm.”

“What is the Luotian Realm?”
“Only one step away from Severing the Dao—a supreme powerhouse at the absolute peak of the Emperor level!”
Not far away, an aged Human Emperor had jealous fire flash through his eyes. His teeth were clenched tight, and the wrinkled hand hidden beneath his sleeve balled itself into a fist. The pent-up gloom in his chest was hard to dispel.
The obsessive thought in his heart was too heavy. Even the Great Emperor’s ancient scripture for purifying the soul could not break the evil within his heart.
His lifespan had already become his heart-devil, turning into a shackle he could not cast off.
Under the gaze of the whole crowd, that Human Emperor who had stepped into the Luotian Realm lifted the martial robe beneath him, which was covered in countless profound Dao patterns, and, caring nothing for the people around him, knelt devoutly and kowtowed.
“Many thanks for the Great Emperor’s boundless grace!”
Human Emperors did not kneel before Emperors. Throughout the ages, there had been no shortage of those who had shattered Emperor Dao and stained themselves with Human Emperor blood. Yet those who could truly make them submit willingly and kneel in reverence could be counted on one hand.
“The shackles between heaven and earth grow ever heavier, but one must strive on…”
Another domain gate opened. Several Yang Spirits surrounded Linglong, bearing the floating coffins that stretched for ten thousand miles as they slowly stepped into it, vanishing in an instant. Only a faint sigh remained, echoing through heaven and earth.
“May my human race… flourish for ten thousand generations…”
One after another, the people around her emerged from their state of enlightenment, and without exception, all of them bowed and kowtowed in farewell.
“So long as the human race’s sun, moon, mountains, and rivers endure, we respectfully send off the Great Emperor!”
Most of those present were sharp-eyed enough to see that Linglong and those few Yang Spirits had already reached the state of exhausted oil and dying lamp-flame. They were about to vanish from the world forever.

…
At the extreme south of the Vast Land of Shenzhou, the monstrous waves rolling through the Boundless Sea crashed day after day against the edge of the continent. Before the cliff walls, spray exploded thousands of zhang high, then fell in a hazy rain, reflecting brilliant rosy light and making the place look like an immortal realm on earth.
A domain gate reaching from heaven to earth appeared, and several Yang Spirits stepped out, bearing the coffins that covered the sky.
“We’ve arrived…”
Linglong looked at the Boundless Sea before her, and her heart was desolate. This place had once been where Langya Grotto-Heaven was stationed. Her Dao lineage had once flourished here at the height of its power, suppressing the entire Boundless Sea and receiving tribute from ten thousand dynasties.
It was also here that she had used blood sacrifice on Langya Grotto-Heaven, shouldering a boundless blood-debt as she fought the God King to the death. The scenes of that battle were still vivid in her memory; it had nearly blasted straight through the entire continent.
Millions of years had passed. This place no longer resembled even the slightest fragment of what it had been in her memory, and even the land beneath her feet no longer belonged to the human race.
The ancient age had long passed. In the end, she was only a person who did not belong to this era.
But this place was, after all, the homeland of her and her kin.
The figures of those few Yang Spirits gradually faded, turning into scattered motes of light that merged into several of the coffins among the floating rows that stretched for ten thousand miles.
The battle song that had sounded in the ancient age had finally reached its ending. They too had come to their end. Fortunately, in the final step, their souls had at last returned to their native soil.
With one hand, Linglong held up the coffins filling the sky, and her fingertip lightly swept toward the earth.
Rumble…

A bottomless fissure appeared along the shore, like an abyss.
One coffin after another passed before Linglong and fell into that abyss. Her hand gently brushed over each coffin, her expression dim, unable to conceal her grief.
Within them were buried her elders, her fellow disciples, her family and friends, and her closest companions…
Sometimes, the dead die so that more people may live. There are many who can speak such grand truths.
But the Great Emperor of the human race was still human. In the deepest corner of Linglong’s heart was buried a pain that no one else could ever understand.
The sky of the human race could not be allowed to fall, and at that time, she had been the only one capable of holding up that vast blue heaven.
But…
It was truly so bitter, so exhausting…
As the last coffin fell into the abyss, the bottomless fissure slowly closed. In the end, only a slender crack remained, like a wound that could never be erased, imprinted upon the cliff wall.
“I once said that one day, I would bring you home. I did not break my word…”
Linglong’s figure slowly faded away, merging into heaven and earth as she dissolved into the Dao.
Boom…
The monstrous waves crashed against the edge of the continent, throwing up water ten thousand zhang high. Under the reflection of brilliant immortal light, they transformed into a sky full of hazy light-rain, dazzling beyond compare.
