Volume 1, Chapter 412 – A Fortuitous Convergence
During the battle in Chengtian Domain, Zhu Xiyang snatched Bai Weiyang away from the midst of the battle formation.
Before she could take Bai Weiyang back to the Demon Domain, Taishi returned from beyond the domain and unfurled the Heaven-Reaching Treasure Record, nearly slaughtering every demon in Chengtian Domain. She was lucky enough to survive, but she was gravely wounded as well.
After that, the human race completely sealed the borders and swept the cosmos clean. Left with no choice, she could only take the equally badly injured Bai Weiyang and flee into the Illusory Star Domain.
At first, the Illusory Star Domain was still relatively peaceful. She gradually healed from her injuries, and Bai Weiyang also recovered his vitality.
Not long afterward, the various Human Emperor clans, together with second-grade powers, entered the fray, and she once again began living a life of hiding from place to place.
Later, the demon and devil races also began showing their traces in the Illusory Star Domain. Zhu Xiyang had originally thought she could use this chance to return to the Boundless Demon Domain, but the two Heaven Demons she had run into the day before attacked the moment they saw her, without wasting a single word, intent on capturing and killing her.
“Zhu Xiyang! If you surrender without resistance, we will spare your life!”
“Return with us to Tianjue Hall and explain everything clearly. Demon Emperor Tianjue will presumably not make things difficult for you!”
The long shouts of the two Heaven Demons came from afar. Though that was what they said, the killing intent on them did not diminish in the slightest. Waves of law fluctuations mixed with overwhelming tribulation aura as they came roaring in, their vicious might towering to the heavens.
Bai Weiyang turned into a streak of sword light. Nascent Soul fluctuations spread from him as he tore through the cosmic starry sky, his escape speed terrifyingly fast.
In the battle of Xianwu City, he had burned away all the Emperor blood in his body. After fully recovering from his injuries, it was as though he had cast off some kind of shackle. Instead, he gained a sense of utter clarity in his sword heart, broke through the bottleneck that had trapped him for so long, stepped into the Nascent Soul Realm, and advanced in cultivation at an astonishing pace.
Even the two Heaven Demons behind him, if one judged by escape speed alone, were only on par with him.
“Why don’t you just go back with them?”
Even while fleeing with his head down, Bai Weiyang still had the leisure to speak.
“Do you want me to kill you right now?!”

Zhu Xiyang was somewhat exasperated. She turned her head and shouted back,
“Explain what?! What wrong have I committed?!”
The two Heaven Demons remained expressionless. Behind one of them, the phantom of a world appeared, and the aura around his body suddenly surged as his speed sharply increased by another degree.
“Amid the battle formation, you shirked and stalled, unwilling to exert yourself. And now you are involved with the human race. A crime like that is enough to have you killed ten times over!”
A thunderous roar suddenly exploded. The Heaven Demon who had spoken burned the power of his world, rapidly closing the distance between himself and the two of them.
“…”
Zhu Xiyang drew a deep breath and looked at Bai Weiyang beside her, suddenly unable to defend herself at all.
Her gaze turned ice-cold, and behind her a small world covered in cracks slowly unfolded.
If her small world had not nearly been smashed apart by Taishi in Chengtian Domain, greatly reducing her strength, how could she have been forced into such a state by two Heaven Demons?
She gradually slowed down, and a trace of despair rose within her. The Boundless Demon Domain had suddenly become a homeland she could no longer return to.
Demon Emperor Tianjue had always been cruel and merciless. There was no way he would listen to her explanation, much less in a case involving the grave crime of betraying her own race. The best ending awaiting her would be to become nothing more than a prime ingredient for refining Immortal pills.
“What are you standing there for? Run!”
Beside her, Bai Weiyang suddenly grabbed Zhu Xiyang’s hand. The sword light around his body compressed to the limit, and his escape speed surged once more.
A faint flush appeared on Bai Weiyang’s face, and he looked extremely excited. It had been far, far too long since he had felt this kind of sensation.

The long years spent amid the stifling military ranks had made him forget the thrill brought by behavior so close to outright defiance.
Only during this stretch of time, after breaking free from the heavy shackles of the Human Emperor clans, had Bai Weiyang felt that he was truly living like a person.
In less than half an hour, with one side pursuing and the other fleeing, the two of them had raced another several million li.
Only then did Zhu Xiyang’s somewhat sluggish mind finally react. She abruptly shook off Bai Weiyang’s hand.
“You can go on by yourself. I’ll hold them back.”
Suppressing the faint stir in her heart, she swept a cold gaze behind her and directly began burning the power of her world.
“I’m letting you off today. Once you escape, if you still have even a shred of conscience, then undo the restraint on Changqing’s life force and return his freedom to him!”
Bai Weiyang swept his gaze across the surrounding starry sky, and suddenly his eyes lit up. He seized Zhu Xiyang’s wrist again and rushed off to the side.
Zhu Xiyang stumbled and nearly lost her footing. Her face flushed red, and she was so angry she wanted to slap Bai Weiyang to death.
“Were you listening to a single word I said?!”
“No.”
Expressionless, Bai Weiyang continued straight ahead, rushing toward a gigantic life-bearing star.
“Enough with the nonsense. Just come with me.”
A massive star hung not far away, and on the huge light screen, the black banner edged in gold bearing the insignia of the Demon-Suppressing Army made Zhu Xiyang’s expression change in shock. Even the demonic power within her stalled for an instant.

Her expression froze. That Demon-Suppressing Army banner shook her to the core, and for a moment she even forgot to break free of Bai Weiyang’s hand.
Bai Weiyang did not slow in the slightest. Pulling Zhu Xiyang with him, he flew straight into the grand formation.
The two Heaven Demons following close behind both changed expression drastically, halted, and did not dare continue the pursuit.
In the Illusory Star Domain, the human race was ultimately still the stronger power. To them, that Demon-Suppressing Army banner carried an indescribable and terrifying deterrent.
“What do we do?”
One Heaven Demon frowned, caught in a dilemma.
“Withdraw first! At this point, Zhu Xiyang’s crime of colluding with the human race has been completely confirmed. We can report back now.”
…
Bai Weiyang dragged Zhu Xiyang into the formation. It was as though they were instantly pulled into another world. Yellow sand filled the sky, and in every direction stretched a boundless desert.
There was not the slightest trace of spiritual qi in heaven and earth. The place was as dry as the wasteland itself, a land utterly devoid of spiritual energy.
“Where is this?”
Zhu Xiyang pulled free of Bai Weiyang’s hand and looked around.
“This is a formation set up by a general of my Demon-Suppressing Army. I was once fortunate enough to receive guidance from General Yunchen and learned about this formation. Although I don’t have the jade talisman for entering and leaving it, I should still be able to get us out.”

Three months later…
“Didn’t you say we could get out?”
Following behind Bai Weiyang, Zhu Xiyang spoke weakly.
“Soon…”
Bai Weiyang looked haggard, the corners of his lips cracked. Clearly, he too was reaching his limit.
“That’s what you said a month ago too…”
“…”

After Shi Lan returned to Yunyan Star, she directly found a secret chamber and entered seclusion. Dividing her attention in two, she used top-grade spirit crystals on one side to nourish her Nascent Soul, and on the other took out a large quantity of spiritual materials, preparing to begin cultivating the second layer of the True Martial Undying Body.
Although her current physique already possessed some immortal characteristics, it was still quite a long way from truly being able to regenerate severed limbs or be reborn from a drop of blood.
Though her present strength gave her at least some ability to protect herself in Lingyang Realm, she still did not relax in the slightest. She lacked any real sense of security.
As for a moment when she might truly relax a little, a thought could not help but flash through Shi Lan’s mind.
“At the very least… not fearing a Sovereign…”
