Volume 1, Chapter 432 – Future
Within the chaos-filled river of stars, several world gates hung suspended, divine radiance blazing brilliantly. Supreme might surged through the universe, and from beneath a star bridge spanning the heavens emerged terrifying beings.
Emperor Yuan’s divine sense swept across the Qiongluo Realm, and he received feedback from the Dragonblood Army. He was already aware of the deaths of the heavenly prodigies and true disciples from the various great factions within the Qiongluo Realm.
He did not blame the many Dragonblood Army commanders for acting on their own initiative. In following his orders, they had done nothing wrong.
Besides, what had happened had already happened. There was no longer the slightest meaning in pursuing responsibility now.
“Prepare to open a world gate. Recall the entire army. Take as many cultivation resources as you can carry and withdraw at the greatest possible speed!”
Emperor Yuan transmitted his voice to the nine commanders sealing the Qiongluo Realm, while at the same time driving his war chariot forward to block the many unknown beings before him.
To cultivate the Dragonblood Army, he had poured in no one knew how much painstaking effort. This was the foundation upon which he had secured his footing within the Reincarnation Hall. It could not all be buried here.
At the same time, an order lifting the seal was transmitted from his sea of consciousness back into the Reincarnation Hall.
…
In the cosmic void, the Reincarnation Hall.
At the center of the hall stood a towering crystal stele of magnificent scale, with countless streams of information changing within it at every moment.
This stele linked the Reincarnation Main God with the many reincarnators, and all task information would be displayed here.
A task notification rapidly rose from the bottom of the stele, and within the span of a few breaths, it shot to the topmost layer.
This sudden change instantly drew the attention of countless factions.
The rankings of the tasks on the stele were mostly determined by a combination of the difficulty of completion and the richness of the rewards.
The top ten tasks in the Reincarnation Hall generally did not change even once in several hundred or a thousand years. This time, the altered task jumped directly to twelfth place.

[Battle for the Qiongluo Realm]
[Task Type: War]
[Task Details: Obtain ownership of the Qiongluo Realm and bring it back to the Reincarnation Hall.]
[Task Reward: Determined by the amount of source power contained within the Qiongluo Realm and war points. (Killing any unit of an opposing faction during the task will grant points.)]
[Note: Any reincarnator of the seventh tier or above who has not accepted a mandatory task within the last thousand years must take part in the war.]
[Subordinate Task: Hunt.]
[Task Details: A unit of the Myriad Worlds camp exists within the Qiongluo Realm and carries a top-tier system. Kill the target and bring back the system.]
[Target Strength: Seventh tier]
[Task Reward: 1 x eighth-tier early-stage gene evolution fluid, 3 x lesser thousand worlds.]
After seeing the contents of the task, many factions were stirred.
The Reincarnation Hall had not launched such a large-scale war task for several hundred years.
“The Qiongluo Realm…”
“Didn’t Emperor Yuan request a lockdown from the Main God? How has it become this now…”
“He must have run into an accident. Otherwise, how could he possibly bear to give up such enormous profits?”
“If even Emperor Yuan and the Dragonblood Army aren’t enough, could there be another Supreme?”
“The reward for that subordinate task isn’t small either.”

One portion of an eighth-tier early-stage gene evolution fluid, together with complete ownership of three small worlds—used properly, it was enough for some major factions to produce two or even three eighth-tier early-stage experts.
Most reincarnators still focused their attention on the war task itself and did not care much about the subordinate task.
In their eyes, a seventh-tier holder of a Myriad Worlds system was not an opponent that posed any real threat. The only thing worth noting was to prevent the target from escaping.
As all sorts of discussion rose up, some factions had already begun to move, gathering their strength and preparing to open world gates.
Within a small world, the sky was scarlet, burning with raging flames.
A broad figure sat cross-legged at the center of the world. The void around him had already been melted away by the scorching heat, leaving only darkness.
His pupils were as brilliant as fire-gold glazed glass, spitting out frightening rays of light. Piercing through the world barrier, he saw the change upon the stele.
After a brief moment of thought, he slowly rose to his feet. With a single step, the world around him changed in an instant, turning into a manor courtyard.
In the courtyard stood an ancient tree in full bloom, covered with pale white flowers. A young man in a long robe sat quietly in the yard, drinking tea.
The young man showed no surprise at the man’s sudden appearance. He pointed at the flowers on the branches, which had drooped somewhat because of the man’s arrival, and said with a faint smile:
“Yang Venerable, please restrain your fire a bit. My Spirit Moon Flowers do not bloom easily.”
“Mister Dongfang.”
The man reined in his aura and said,
“I have come to ask you, sir, to cast a divination and determine fortune and misfortune.”
“For Qiongluo?”
“Exactly.”

“I already warned Emperor Yuan before this that this trip might not go entirely smoothly.”
Mister Dongfang shook his head slightly and drew a star divination compass from his sleeve.
A layer of treasure-light lit up on the compass, and within his eyes was reflected an illusory scene of a starry sky.
As time passed, a thin sheen of sweat appeared on Mister Dongfang’s brow, and his expression grew increasingly grave.
After a long while, he let out a heavy breath of turbid air and put away the compass.
“How is it?”
Seeing that something was off about Dongfang’s expression, Yang Venerable frowned slightly.
“Qiongluo has changed. A Supreme will fall, and the ownership of the Qiongluo Realm is uncertain.”
In other words, this task might not necessarily be completed in the end. The Reincarnation Hall was highly likely to fail.
“Although a war task was only launched once a few hundred years ago, there won’t be too many ninth-tier experts taking action this time. Even so, including me, there will be at least six.”
Yang Venerable’s brow furrowed even tighter. The fact that a Supreme would fall was a danger entirely beyond his expectations.
“A change has taken place within the Qiongluo Realm, something I had never seen in my earlier visions.”
Dongfang’s expression also held a trace of confusion. In so short a time, an unpredictable variable had appeared in the Qiongluo Realm—something he could no longer see clearly.
“Is there any chance of turning things around? Or some way to preserve my life?”
Yang Venerable could not help asking further. He could not refuse a mandatory task from the Reincarnation Hall. He had not stepped into the ninth tier very long ago, and he also did not have a large number of subordinates under him. Compared to other Supremes, he was undoubtedly much weaker.
“Do not enter the world. If you remain outside in the starry sky, you may perhaps stay safe and sound.”

After pondering for a moment, Dongfang gave an ambiguous suggestion.
Yang Venerable fell silent for a moment, then cupped his hands.
“My thanks, sir.”
As he watched Yang Venerable’s figure disappear, Mister Dongfang gradually frowned.
He took out the star divination compass once more, offered up a wisp of essence blood, and unfolded an even more profound secret art, beginning to calculate the workings of heaven.
The lines between his brows grew deeper and deeper. He continuously struck out strand after strand of essence blood, his face turning ever paler.
Crack—
Pfft!
The star divination compass, already stained blood-red, suddenly shattered apart. Bloody tears spilled from his eyes. As if struck by lightning, he coughed up great mouthfuls of blood and kept shaking his head.
“No… impossible…”
…
Outside the Qiongluo Realm.
Emperor Yuan stood in the starry sky with axe in hand. More than ten warships had appeared before him, and four completely undisguised Supreme auras descended like rivers of stars, pressing down across the universe.
On one azure warship hung a battle banner bearing the character Heaven, and from it suddenly burst a thunderous shout:
“Who gave you the audacity to kill a true disciple of my Tianxiao Palace?!”
