Volume 1, Chapter 92 – Rewards
For the intermediate lottery, the highest possible prize was a six-star item, and she could even choose the category of the draw.
Just the three-star Purple Star Seven-Section Halberd alone was already a rare treasure. As for the value of a six-star item, even Shi Lan did not dare imagine it.
The golden-glowing wheel all but erased the presence of the original lottery wheel beside it, radiating a deeply tempting aura.
Shi Lan suppressed the urge to draw and closed the system panel.
Glancing at the noisy crowd around her, Shi Lan frowned slightly. The quest was already complete, so there was no need for her to linger here.
Summoning Wang Ning over, Shi Lan declined the pile of gold and silver the town mayor had scraped together with great difficulty and left the town. Treating gold and silver as nothing had earned her several dozen more reputation points.
Once they were out of the town, Shi Lan led Wang Ning and the others to a sizable city and found an inn to settle in.
“Split into two groups. One guards the spirit crystals and flood-dragon horses, the other goes out to relax, then you rotate. After tomorrow, you won’t have many chances like this anymore,” Shi Lan said softly to Wang Ning as she dismounted.
Shi Lan was planning to take Wang Ning and the others closer to the Boundless Demon Domain. Even if she herself did not need it, Wang Ning and the others still needed military merit.
And if they went too long without fighting demonic beasts and their battle merit did not change, once it was noticed by the inspectors, the consequences would be very serious.
“Centurion, I understand,” Wang Ning said with a nod and quickly made the arrangements.
Shi Lan returned to her room, flipped herself onto the bed in faint excitement, and opened the lottery panel.
After a brief hesitation, she did not touch the large golden wheel and instead moved over to the primary lottery wheel.

“Start the draw.”
The wheel spun rapidly, then came to an abrupt stop.
【Congratulations to the Host for obtaining a two-star item: Shenyun Bow.】
“Draw again.” Without rushing to check the reward, Shi Lan tapped the lottery wheel once more.
【Congratulations to the Host for obtaining a three-star item: Tianling Talisman.】
At the words “three-star item,” Shi Lan’s heart leapt. She had only ever drawn three-star items twice in total.
She opened the system’s temporary storage and took out the two items she had just drawn.
A massive white bow nearly as tall as a person appeared in her hand. Shi Lan got out of bed and poured Innate true qi into the great bow.
She set her hand on the bowstring, and with a surge of strength slowly drew it back. As her Innate true qi circulated, mysterious lines surfaced one by one along the bow’s body.
When the bow was drawn to a full moon, her Innate true qi condensed on the string into a white qi arrow, ready to be released.
Shi Lan did not test the power of this shot. She slowly relaxed her fingers, and the qi arrow dissolved into motes of spiritual energy that gently dispersed. Some had yet to scatter before they were absorbed back into her body.
Shi Lan had already been thinking of finding a magical artifact to temporarily replace the Purple Star Seven-Section Halberd. The Shenyun Bow had come at exactly the right time.

After putting the Shenyun Bow away, Shi Lan took out the Tianling Talisman. A talisman about the size of her palm appeared in her hand.
Looking at the paper talisman in her hand, Shi Lan asked in puzzlement, “System, what is this used for?”
【Tianling Talisman, a one-time consumable. Greatly increases the user’s strength (no side effects).】
Shi Lan understood. For her current self, this one Tianling Talisman was far more useful than the Purple Star Seven-Section Halberd. It was a life-saving trump card.
She returned the talisman to the system’s temporary storage, closed her eyes, and sank into cultivation. Right now, drawing something good from the intermediate lottery would not necessarily be a good thing for her.
Recently, Shi Lan had never truly settled down to cultivate. However, with a piece of spirit marrow hanging at her chest, spiritual qi kept flowing into her body, and her cultivation had been quietly improving all along.
Not long after she began circulating her cultivation art, Shi Lan ran into the bottleneck of the sixth stage of the Innate Realm.
This bottleneck failed to hold her back for long. In less than half an hour, it was torn apart, and Shi Lan’s cultivation stepped into the sixth stage of the Innate Realm.
Feeling the Innate true qi in her body grow several degrees thicker, the corner of Shi Lan’s mouth curved up. The exhilaration of growing stronger was always a source of joy.
Shi Lan came out of her cultivation state and let her mind sink into the system’s virtual space.
Of the Heaven-Scorching Three Halberds that Samsara had taught her, she had only comprehended the first of the twelve variations of the First Halberd: Mortals Perish. She had barely entered the door and was still a long way from mastery.
The Innate spiritual blood had only strengthened her physical aptitude and roots, not her comprehension. She still needed to slowly ponder over the subtle changes within those variations.

…………
Early the next morning.
More than ten flood-dragon horses streaked across the land like bolts of black lightning, the jagged mountain paths beneath their hooves as easy as level ground.
After the group crossed a large mountain, they ran headlong into a herd of several hundred demonic beasts.
Shi Lan swept her gaze over them and in an instant determined there were no Innate Realm beasts among them. She immediately flipped her left hand, and the Shenyun Bow appeared in her palm.
Seeing Shi Lan take out the Shenyun Bow, Wang Ning and the others were not surprised. After all, Shi Lan was an Innate Realm martial artist. If a magical artifact did not show itself, no one could say how many artifacts an Innate Realm martial artist might carry.
Letting go of the reins, Shi Lan straightened her back and drew the bow to a full moon. Innate true qi surged forth, and a qi arrow howled out, piercing through more than ten demonic beasts in an instant.
She loosed three arrows in succession, killing the several ninth-stage Body Tempering Realm beasts within the herd. Then Shi Lan reined in her flood-dragon horse and left the rest of the beasts to Wang Ning and the others.
Hogging all the credit was a bad habit, and Wang Ning and the others had helped her a lot.
The remaining demonic beasts were quickly slain by Wang Ning and the others. During the battle, one cloth bag of spirit crystals was torn open by a beast, scattering spirit crystals all over the ground.
Since they had not brought extra bags when leaving the city, they had no choice but to divide the spirit crystals among the remaining bags and then stuff a small portion into their clothes.
This made Shi Lan long even more for the legendary spatial ring. She had asked Samsara before how something like a spatial ring was made.

Samsara’s answer was that if he spent energy, he could create something like a storage space, but the energy cost would be enormous.
The spatial laws of the Lingyang Realm were absurdly solid. Without materials, trying to create an independent space from nothing would require at least Nascent Soul Realm strength by this world’s standards, and the consumption would be immense.
And even with spatial materials as a foundation, only martial artists at the Myriad Phenomena Realm or above would have the ability to make something like a storage ring.
Not to mention Samsara, even Shi Lan was unwilling to use up Samsara’s energy just for convenience. Samsara was her final safety lock.
……
A cold wind swept past, and a snowflake landed on Shi Lan’s neck, bringing a slight chill.
Shi Lan tightened the reins and halted her flood-dragon horse. She looked up at the goose-feather snow slowly drifting down from the sky and drew in a quiet breath of icy air. Winter had arrived. If the heavy snow continued without end, it would bring great trouble to those Mortal refugees fleeing disaster.
“Boom——”
A dull rumble of hooves came from the distance.
Watching the dark line closing in from afar, Shi Lan narrowed her eyes. She knew this sound of hooves all too well. It was flood-dragon horses…
