Peach-Orange! – Chapter 125 – A Glimmer of Hope in Despair
The female doctor’s expression was grim, but noticing Su Tao’s utterly despairing look, she softened her tone. “The patient’s life is temporarily out of danger, but she’s lost too much blood. We need to take her to the hospital immediately for a transfusion.”
A spark of life suddenly flickered in Su Tao’s desolate eyes.
Her hand, stained with dried blood, clutched the doctor’s sleeve. “Really, Doctor? But… but earlier, Xiaocheng wasn’t breathing at all….”
The doctor explained patiently, “She lost too much blood. When the human body reaches this state, breathing becomes extremely faint, almost undetectable by touch. The correct method is to check the pulse at the neck.
“This child is lucky. Her recovery ability is remarkably strong, and her cell activity is much higher than average. The wound clotted quickly, and her unconscious state kept her blood pressure too low to dislodge the clot. Combined with timely treatment, she managed to cling to life.”
As she spoke, several nurses had already placed Chi Xiaocheng on a stretcher, stabilizing her as they carried her out swiftly.
Both Dongfang Yang and Su Tao glanced over, shocked by the sight of all that crimson, yet feeling a surge of relief in their hearts.
The doctor added, “However, she’s not out of the critical period yet. But rest assured, we’ll do everything we can to save her.”
With that, she hurried out the door after the other medical staff.
As for Su Tao, the moment she learned Chi Xiaocheng was still alive, her eyes fluttered shut, and she collapsed onto the sofa.
The relentless back-and-forth between despair and hope, the overwhelming guilt and regret… it had all become too much.
Frankly, enduring such heart-wrenching agony until now was nothing short of miraculous.
Even in unconsciousness, she still clutched that suicide note tightly in her hand.
Dongfang Yang sighed, draping a blanket over Su Tao before adjusting the AC to a comfortable temperature.

At least nothing catastrophic had happened.
“When she wakes up, she’ll probably be a mess again. But as a guy, I’m not exactly equipped to handle this….”
Scratching his head, Dongfang Yang pulled out his phone and made a call.
A lazy female voice answered. “Dongfang Yang? What do you want? If it’s a date, forget it. People will think I’m climbing the social ladder by clinging to your family.”
Dongfang Yang replied calmly, “Qian Qing, I’m at Su Tao’s place. Remember her? The girl I mentioned before?”
“Ah, the commoner girl you’re chasing. The one who got into trouble with Ye Liang, only for Ye Liang to end up screwed instead.”
“She’s not doing well right now. Can you come over and take care of her? Maybe help her sort through her emotions.”
Qian Qing teased, “Isn’t this the perfect chance for you to swoop in? Play the hero and win her heart?”
“Dongfang Yang doesn’t take advantage of people in vulnerable states!” he declared righteously. “If I want to pursue someone, I’ll do it honorably. Besides, men and women shouldn’t be too familiar. It’s inappropriate for me to care for her. Just get over here.”
“Sure, sure. Tsundere Yang-Yang.”
“I. Am. Not. A. Tsundere!”
After finally convincing Qian Qing to help, Dongfang Yang exhaled in exasperation.
Contrary to rumors, he didn’t have a harem of secretaries or students. Very few women ever caught his interest.

Unlike that hedonistic mess Ye Liang, Dongfang Yang mostly hung out with guys.
“Meow~”
A cat’s cry came from the corner. Dongfang Yang looked up to see a bespectacled man entering.
Si Chen stepped inside. “Didn’t expect you to get here so fast. Is Chi Xiaocheng alright?”
Dongfang Yang eyed him suspiciously. “What are you doing here?”
“Helping, obviously.” Si Chen took a seat on another sofa, glancing at Su Tao’s tear-streaked face as she slept. He couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
Chi Xiaocheng really went all out this time.
But judging by the situation, she’d probably survive.
Turning to Dongfang Yang, Si Chen said, “Su Tao called me too. Didn’t think you’d beat me here. Anyway, as long as everyone’s okay…”
Dongfang Yang raised an eyebrow. “That doesn’t sound like you. The Si Chen I know wouldn’t lift a finger without personal gain. Showing up 30 minutes late would’ve been more your style.”
Si Chen rolled his eyes. “We’re friends, you know… Hey, what’s with that look?”
“Don’t tell me you’re still trying to pursue Su Tao?”
Dongfang Yang studied Si Chen with amusement before scoffing. “Si Chen, Si Chen… I advise you to give up. You stand zero chance.”
Si Chen was well aware of that.

He’d never actually had feelings for Su Tao. Whatever slight interest he’d once harbored had been permanently etched away with the words “Never Love Tao” on his back.
But Dongfang Yang’s certainty puzzled him.
Playing along, Si Chen feigned curiosity. “Why do you say that?”
“Hahaha!” Dongfang Yang laughed but quickly lowered his voice to avoid waking Su Tao. With a triumphant grin, he declared, “You probably don’t know this, but Su Tao cares about me!”
Crossing his arms proudly, he added, “And it’s not just Su Tao. Even Chi Xiaocheng likes me. You might as well bow out gracefully.”
Listening to this textbook “sunshine himbo” speech, Si Chen was dumbfounded.
This idiot… had no idea about the relationship between Chi Xiaocheng and Su Tao?
After a pause, Si Chen spoke carefully. “Dongfang Yang.”
“What?”
“Nothing. Just suddenly thought you’re kinda… adorable.”
“???”
Si Chen decided against revealing the truth about the two girls.
He figured Dongfang Yang’s reaction when he eventually found out would be priceless.

After some more banter, a woman in a fur coat entered. Her wavy hair slightly curled, her nose elegantly sculpted, her gaze gentle.
“So, this is the girl I need to look after?”
Qian Qing stood before Su Tao, her heart aching at the sight of that exhausted face.
Dongfang Yang nodded. “Thanks. When she wakes up, just comfort her. I’ll text you the details later.”
“Alright, alright. You two scram now.”
Once the men left, Qian Qing sighed.
Noticing the paper in Su Tao’s grip, clearly labeled “Suicide Note,” she murmured, “What a mess….”
After adjusting the blanket over Su Tao and adding her own coat for extra warmth, she coaxed King out from his hiding spot and began tidying the chaotic room.
Based on Dongfang Yang’s briefing, she could roughly piece together what happened.
Yet when she entered the bathroom and saw the bathtub filled with crimson, she still inhaled sharply.
Her gaze drifted back to the sleeping Su Tao.
If the hospital couldn’t save that Xiaocheng….
“Will this girl even be able to hold herself together when she wakes up?”
