Cannon Fodder – Chapter 34 – Blood with an Orange Juice Flavor, Quite Nice, Right?

Chi Xiaocheng wasn’t particularly strong, but her grip on Liu Guijia’s wrist was painfully tight.

Those crimson eyes, like the vertical pupils of a crazed cat, radiated terror.

Liu Guijia was startled too. She yanked Chi Xiaocheng’s hair harder, gritting her teeth in fury. “What did you say? You dare talk back to me?! Do you not understand who’s in charge here? One more word and I’ll carve up that pretty face of yours!”

SLAP—!

Another heavy blow landed on Chi Xiaocheng’s cheek.

Her face flushed red, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth. Her disheveled hair covered half her eyes, obscuring her expression.

After the slap, Liu Guijia’s anger, fueled by fear of that gaze, gradually subsided. “No matter how fiercely you glare, you’re still just trash. I bet it was Su Tao who gave you the guts, huh?

“She’s just like you, a worthless piece of crap. Acting all pure while reeking of desperation. Disgusting!

“If I weren’t scared of her, she’d be a dog just like you and that spineless follower behind me.”

She spat on the floor, failing to notice the deepening shadow over Chi Xiaocheng’s face.

“Flashing that pretty face around, seducing everyone… but she seems really hung up on you.”

She lifted Chi Xiaocheng’s chin. “What do you think would happen if I used you to threaten her? Would she actually care?”

Chi Xiaocheng’s eyes slowly opened. Cat-like slits glowed red in the dim room. Her voice was hoarse.

“That’s… exactly what I want to know too.”

“What did you say?” Liu Guijia frowned.

Chi Xiaocheng laughed, blood streaking down her chin. The act of a bullied victim was gone, as if she’d forgotten her own plan entirely.

“You wanted to slash my face, right? Why haven’t you done it yet?”

She leaned closer, gripping Liu Guijia’s wrist with inexplicable strength, prying her fingers from her hair. Their noses nearly touched.

“W-What are you doing?!”

What kind of eyes were those? Not human. Pupils slit vertically, glowing blood-red. Just meeting that gaze made terror crawl up her throat.

Chi Xiaocheng advanced again. The knife in Liu Guijia’s hand pricked her cheek, making a tiny bead of blood drip down.

Different from the blood spilled by force, this was voluntary. Paired with those eerie eyes, it was horrifying.

Chi Xiaocheng exhaled, her breath warm. She caressed the blade tenderly, as if stroking a lover.

“What’s wrong? Too scared? Or were you just bluffing?”

“Stay back!” Liu Guijia scrambled backward, knife raised defensively. She was terrified.

A chilling thought struck her: If she stabbed forward, Chi Xiaocheng would lean into it. There wasn’t a shred of fear in those eyes.

How was this the same girl she’d tormented for three years?

Liu Guijia was paralyzed.

Chi Xiaocheng’s gaze….

It looked like….

‘Murder!’

Chi Xiaocheng grinned savagely. “Liu Guijia, you’re just a bully who preys on the weak. I invited you today to torment me. Those slaps? That punch? Perfect. I’m satisfied!”

“But!” She stepped forward. “You insulted Tao-Tao. That pissed me off. I’m no yandere. I don’t even ‘like’ her. But right now, she’s my only lifeline.

Chi Xiaocheng’s grin widened. “Side characters like us? We exist to prop up the protagonists. Yet Tao-Tao still shines her light on us.

“After everything the original host did, she forgave me. Treated me gently. What an amazing girl… unlike someone I loved before. I gave her everything but still got betrayed.

“You wouldn’t understand, would you? The feeling of a shattered heart being pieced back together.”

Chi Xiaocheng seized the knife.

Liu Guijia panicked, trying to wrench it free. “Let go!”

It didn’t budge. The blade was lodged in Chi Xiaocheng’s grip. Warm liquid oozed from her palm to her wrist.

‘D-Doesn’t that hurt?!’

With a sharp twist, the hilt slipped from her grasp. Now the knife was in Chi Xiaocheng’s hand.

“Too scared to do it yourself?”

Chi Xiaocheng chuckled, sweeping her bangs aside. She pressed the blade to her forehead, just above her left eyebrow.

A crimson line split her skin. Blood welled, beading like dew on glass, before spilling over her eyelid and down her cheek.

Now, painted in gore, she was terrifying. Her strange pupils reflected the scarlet hue. Her lips curled unnaturally.

“If you won’t do it, how will anyone believe I was bullied when they arrive?”

She stepped forward, straddling Liu Guijia’s legs, looming over her.

“Hit me all you want. But why did you have to talk so much? Savoring your victory?”

She twirled the knife, making a drop of red splashed onto Liu Guijia’s skin.

“You know, one thing you said was right. I do want to see how Tao-Tao would react if my life were threatened.

“But one thing was very wrong. You said you’d turn Tao-Tao into a dog?

“Don’t you get it?

“She’s mine.

“Even if she becomes a dog, she’ll be my dog.”

In this world, only the female lead could shield her from the male leads’ hostility. This was the destiny of a cannon fodder villain that she had to overcome!

“Hey, you.” Chi Xiaocheng glanced at the gloomy follower. “Close the window. I don’t want her screams drawing attention.”

Then she licked the blade.

“Orange juice flavor. Quite nice, right?”
