Peach-Orange! – Chapter 356 – You Know, I’ve Always Been Loyal
Looking at Su Tao’s resolute departing figure, Professor Su and Dongfang Wen couldn’t help but exchange glances.
Once again, things had taken an unexpected turn.
As doctors, they naturally wanted to properly treat Chi Xiaocheng. Yet now, not only was Chi Xiaocheng not improving, but even Su Tao’s condition had started to seem off.
This was especially true for Professor Su, who had watched the two grow up. The changes in Su Tao were the most apparent to her.
However, the primary physician in charge was still Dongfang Wen.
Professor Su couldn’t help but ask for his opinion, “Are we really going to proceed with the discharge? If emotional issues arise, won’t it be hard to recover without active treatment?”
Dongfang Wen sighed. “This is my fault. I misjudged the extent of Chi Xiaocheng’s amnesia, which led to an accident during hypnosis. If I had accurately assessed her condition, the hypnosis wouldn’t have gone this way.”
The problem was, Chi Xiaocheng, as the patient, wasn’t very willing to undergo treatment either. Just moments ago, he had asked her about her memory.
With just one look, Dongfang Wen could tell Chi Xiaocheng was acting. She didn’t want to talk about the memories she had already recovered.
A patient’s lack of cooperation was the most frustrating obstacle.
And this patient was an exceptional actress. It was hard to tell whether she was genuinely pretending or not.
After some thought, Dongfang Wen said, “Let’s follow Su Tao’s decision and proceed with the discharge. Meanwhile, I’ll prepare a set of auxiliary treatment methods that can be used in daily life to aid memory and emotional recovery. That way, even without a doctor’s help, she won’t be completely lost.”
Professor Su sighed. “I suppose that’s the only way.”

“But is there really no other method?”
“Emotions and memories are different, but they share some similarities. Emotions are harder to awaken than memories, but there’s one method that works for both.
“That is, forcing them to relive past experiences, ideally replicating every detail from memory. Recreating past events can create a powerful impact on the other person, which is the most effective way to restore them.
“But it’s also the most extreme method. One mishap, and the amnesiac could be affected, leading to changes in personality and other aspects.
“In any case, let’s not mention this method to Miss Su Tao. Even in daily life, Chi Xiaocheng might recover her memories naturally one day.”
After speaking, the two professors exchanged glances, both seeing the helplessness in each other’s eyes.
There had been many unexpected turns.
But they could only hope that the two of them would eventually find happiness together.
Once the discharge was confirmed, Su Tao informed Chi Xiaocheng about it. The two stayed in the hospital room until noon before the paperwork was finally completed.
Su Tao still appeared perfectly normal, but Si Chen, who already knew the full story, couldn’t help but silently applaud Chi Xiaocheng’s plan.
Even while pretending to have recovered her memories, she was suppressing her emotions to avoid reuniting with Su Tao.
In Si Chen’s view, Su Tao’s possessiveness toward her should have been more than enough by now.

So the question was, what was Chi Xiaocheng still worried about?
What reason could there be that made her unable to be with Su Tao even now, instead choosing to pressure the girl further?
Could it be… that Chi Xiaocheng was a sadist?
The thought flashed through Si Chen’s mind, and he instinctively shook his head.
But he had a vague feeling that Chi Xiaocheng’s insistence on doing this might be related to the mysterious forces behind her.
That red apple….
Watching Su Tao walking ahead, her inexplicably desolate figure reminded Si Chen of Chu Lingfeng back then.
A person’s aura was intangible, and so was their spirit. But if you stayed by someone’s side long enough and knew them well, even the slightest change would be noticeable.
Right now, Su Tao gave Si Chen the same feeling Chu Lingfeng had after eating the apple, just not as severe.
The two arrived at Professor Su’s office, collected the medication and discharge papers, and then Si Chen asked Su Tao, “Now that you’re being discharged, what’s your plan regarding Chi Xiaocheng’s memories?”
“I have my own methods. No need to trouble you, Young Master Si.”
Hearing this, Si Chen knew Su Tao had misunderstood.\
From beginning to end, he had always been loyal to Orange. It was just that, because of the last plan, Su Tao still mistakenly saw him as a rival.

With no other choice, Si Chen could only be honest. “Don’t worry, I’ve never liked Chi Xiaocheng, nor will I compete with you. The reason I told you that last time was because your hesitation was frustrating even me. I’ve always seen Chi Xiaocheng as a little sister.”
Yet his sincerity only earned him an eye-roll.
It was easy to sow doubt in someone’s heart, but dispelling it was far too difficult.
Si Chen sighed. “Fine. Here, take this.”
He pulled out a sleek, techy-looking black-framed glasses from his pocket and handed them to Su Tao.
The latter gave the lens-less glasses a puzzled look. “What’s this?”
Si Chen explained, “A high-tech product from my family’s company. When you have time, put these on and take a look at Chi Xiaocheng. You’ll understand everything.”
Su Tao, half-believing, put the glasses on.
But the Si Chen in front of her remained unchanged. There was no difference at all.
The glasses didn’t even have lenses, making them seem purely decorative.
Si Chen clarified, “Looking at me won’t do anything. This was made after Chi Xiaocheng died… or before she was revived, that is. I wanted to try one last method to save her, so I secretly extracted some of her orange cells.
“I wanted to use her unique cells to treat her.

“But unfortunately, before we could make any breakthroughs, Chi Xiaocheng showed signs of waking up. Later, we conducted in-depth research on her cells and developed these glasses based on her genetic makeup.”
Si Chen spun a long-winded lie to make it sound credible and prevent Su Tao from growing suspicious.
He added, “Chi Xiaocheng’s cells are special, making them perfect test subjects. If this succeeds, our black-tech research can advance further.”
Su Tao nodded, though not entirely convinced. “But why give them to me?”
Si Chen kept his expression neutral. “I’ve already tested them. We need data from different people. You try them for a while, then return them to me. I’ll have Dongfang Yang test them next. Remember, this must be kept confidential. Don’t let anyone else use them.
“Also, it’s best to only wear them when the two of you are alone.
“That’s all. School’s starting soon, right? Don’t neglect Chi Xiaocheng because of your studies.”
Having said that, Si Chen feared his lies would spiral out of control, so he didn’t give Su Tao a chance to ask more questions. With a wave, he left.
Left alone, Su Tao frowned at the plain-looking glasses. “What exactly is the point of this thing?” She couldn’t shake the feeling that this was some prank Si Chen had devised to mess with her.
Just then, Chi Xiaocheng’s sweet voice suddenly came from behind her.
“Tao-Tao, what are you spacing out for? You’ve been standing there motionless for a while now.”
