Peach-Orange! – Chapter 415 – The Strange Glasses
Late at night, outside Chi Xiaocheng’s residential complex, two women in casual clothes stepped out of a car. Almost as soon as their feet touched the solid ground, they felt a chilling sensation of being watched.
Accompanying this was the sound of distant dog barks from the darkness.
The younger of the two girls couldn’t help but swallow hard. “Sis, is this mission really just about moving some stuff?”
The older sister, Xia Ju, patted the girl’s back gently. “Relax. These… should all be our people.”
She took a deep breath and walked up to the security booth by the entrance. “Hello, I was sent by Young Master Si Chen to fetch some luggage for Miss Chi and Miss Su. The young master should have contacted you in advance, right?”
The security guard, a man with a stubbled face, gave Xia Ju a casual glance. “Show me your token.”
After handing over the token representing her identity, the guard quickly made a phone call. Soon after, a fierce-looking, one-armed man walked out from the complex.
Chi Song glanced at the two women and said coolly, “Things have been tense lately. We have to check all unfamiliar faces. Sorry about that.”
Xia Ju smiled faintly. “I understand. Can we go up now?”
“Yeah.”
Chi Song nodded, lighting a cigarette with a troubled expression.
Seeing this, the security guard couldn’t help but speak up. “Brother Song, this isn’t sustainable. They’re in the shadows, and we’re out in the open, constantly being toyed with like mice. Why don’t we ask Brother Long to bring more people?”
Chi Song shook his head. “Brother Long can’t leave right now. Ye Er has gone crazy for some reason and wants to take control of Lizhi City, just like Ye Liang did. He’s already sent people to stir up trouble there.
“If Brother Long comes here, Ye Er might seize the opportunity to turn against us in Jiuzhou City. We’ve already got a grudge with that guy.”
As he spoke, he let out another long sigh.
Truth be told, he was more worried than anyone.

His two younger sisters were being targeted, with accidents happening left and right, yet as their older brother, he couldn’t do much to help.
He couldn’t even find Xiao Ming.
As for dealing with Chu Lingfeng, there had been no progress.
He wasn’t the brightest around, so he could only blindly follow the information and instructions from Si Chen, hoping for the best. The result? He was useless at everything and had ended up as a glorified bodyguard with little real value.
Now he was stationed around the complex with a bunch of underlings to provide protection.
But even this place wasn’t safe anymore.
The security guard watched Chi Song lost in thought and spoke up again. “Brother Song, since Young Master Si Chen is protecting the two sisters now, and we’re really at a loss, maybe we should… go all out against Chu Lingfeng?”
Chi Song shot him a glare. “Do you want me to risk the lives of my brothers just for my own selfish reasons?”
Protecting his sisters was important, but so were the lives of his brothers.
But….
With Si Chen taking over the protection duties, he might actually have more opportunities to act alone now.
Meanwhile, the sisters Xia Ju and Xia Kui entered the password at the door and opened it.
“Sis, I feel like things are actually pretty peaceful these days. The young master was so serious, telling us to be careful on the road and to call him or the police if anything happened. It feels unnecessary, don’t you think?”
Xia Kui turned on the lights and shivered at the chill in the room.
Xia Ju smacked her sister lightly on the head. “Dummy, just follow the young master’s orders. Miss Chi and Miss Su aren’t like us. Didn’t you see all the bodyguards inside and outside the complex? You go grab the two cats. I’ll see what needs packing.”

“Fine, fine!”
The two sisters entered Chi Xiaocheng’s room together, intending for one to pack clothes while the other took the cats.
But who would’ve thought?
King and Xiao Ran, who had been curled up in the blankets, heard the door open and assumed it was Su Tao and Chi Xiaocheng returning.
They were about to demand cuddles from their servants.
But instead, they saw two unfamiliar women.
King immediately bristled.
After swatting the still-sleeping Xiao Ran, she quickly dragged the white cat toward the window.
The sisters stood there, stunned.
“Hey, kitties, wait! We’re not bad people!” Xia Kui hurried after them, but King and Xiao Ran were far too clever, disappearing from sight in seconds.
Xia Ju sighed helplessly and turned to open the wardrobe.
She started by packing clothes, then moved on to everyday items that were within easy reach.
Su Tao’s drawing tablet, the books on acting she usually read, the sachet left by the bedside….
Unsure what exactly to pack, she decided to take anything that seemed frequently used.
Just then, her sister’s voice reached her ears again. “Sis, both cats ran off. We can’t take them back. What do we do?”

“It’s already late. Let’s not bother the young master. We’ll ask him tomorrow.”
Xia Ju picked up a down jacket, hesitated, then put it back. But after a moment’s thought—
Early spring was warmer now, but mornings could still be chilly. Maybe this jacket was necessary after all?
After some deliberation, she folded it and placed it into the suitcase.
“What’s this?”
Her fingers brushed against a hard lump in the pocket. Pulling it out, she frowned in confusion. “Glasses?”
The frames were black and somewhat old-fashioned, but they had a touch of high-tech metal accents.
There was no glasses case, but they’d been kept in the pocket.
Had they been forgotten there, or were they important enough to always carry?
“Whatever, I’ll just take them along.”
The strange glasses were packed into the suitcase along with the jacket.
……
Morning came quickly. At 6 a.m., the sky was dimly lit with dawn’s glow.
As they got ready to leave, Si Chen brought some news.
“Chi Xiaocheng, Su Tao, my people have already taken your luggage to the villa ahead of time. But there’s one issue… we couldn’t catch the two cats you own. Strangers seem to have a hard time getting close to them.”

“Uh….”
Chi Xiaocheng had forgotten that King and Xiao Ran were extremely skittish around unfamiliar people.
Not to mention, King was practically supernatural. Catching her was next to impossible.
She scratched her head. “Tao-Tao, what should we do? Should we go back and get them? It’d only take an extra half hour if we make a detour now.”
Su Tao rubbed her chin. “Si Chen, what do you think?”
“I don’t recommend going back. If we hit morning traffic, the risk of something going wrong increases. I can have someone leave cat food near your place every day.”
“That works.” Su Tao nodded. “They’ll scavenge for food if they’re hungry. They’ll be fine.”
Mostly, Su Tao felt uneasy. She had a nagging feeling that something might go wrong on this trip.
If they went back now and got stuck in traffic, the chances of an accident would only rise.
Once things settled down, they’d make it up to King and Xiao Ran properly.
Su Tao thought this to herself before turning to Si Chen. “Shall we leave now?”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
The three of them headed out, once again boarding the same off-road vehicle from the day before.
Unbeknownst to them, as they left, a man fiddling with a breakfast cart nearby slowly pulled out his phone.
“Miracle Doctor Chu, it’s me. They’ve set off.”
