Cannon Fodder – Chapter 68 – Tao-Tao, I’ve Always Been Watching You
“Qianqian! Qianqian!”
In the dorm, Su Tao jumped out of bed early in the morning and rushed to Chen Qian’s side, shoving her phone at her. “Why would Xiaocheng ask me something like this?”
It was the classic “your mom or your girlfriend” question!
Compared to Su Tao’s panic, Chen Qian just glanced at it calmly and continued applying her face mask.
“Obviously, Chi Xiaocheng’s having an episode.”
“This….” Su Tao bit her lip, feeling like troubles kept piling up.
Just yesterday, she escaped Chi Xiaocheng. And now, Chi Xiaocheng hit her with another dilemma.
She hesitated. “Qianqian, how should I reply?”
“Do you like Ye Liang?”
Su Tao pursed her lips, started to shake her head, then paused mid-shake.
She felt some attraction but wouldn’t call it “like.”
Chen Qian internally scoffed but kept a straight face. Following Chi Xiaocheng’s instructions, she said, “You’re so silly. Why obsess over Ye Liang?”
Su Tao looked confused.
Chen Qian turned, peeling off her mask, and spoke earnestly. “Normally, I wouldn’t interfere. But as your best friend, I can’t watch you like this. What’s so great about Ye Liang?”
She counted on her fingers:
“He orders you around.

“Never treats you well.
“Every time, it’s ‘Ye Liang needs me,’ and you rush off in a taxi.
“If he wants you, why doesn’t he come himself? Even Dongfang Yang drives his sports car to the dorm for you. What about Ye Liang?
“He doesn’t even reimburse your taxi fares!
“He claims to like you, says he’ll give you anything, but where’s the action?
“What kind of ‘cold CEO’ is this? Aside from being handsome, what does he have?
“I really don’t get what you see in him.”
Another half-asleep roommate chimed in: “Tao-Tao, Ye Liang isn’t worth your time. You’re perfect, you could marry into any rich family.”
Chen Qian glanced at the roommate, feeling something was off.
She pondered: ‘Why did I ever like Ye Liang so much? Why did I antagonize Su Tao over him?’
After experiencing Chi Xiaocheng’s “blackhead-removing pill,” Chen Qian had fully switched sides, joining the “Team Cheng” faction.
Once she let go of her Ye Liang obsession, things started feeling weird.
In high school, she’d always chased Ye Liang’s cold shoulder. There was no epic romance, so why had she been so obsessed?
Why had she instantly hated Su Tao on sight?
Something wasn’t right.
But she brushed it off. Now, watching Su Tao struggle under Chi Xiaocheng’s pressure was too entertaining.

Patting Su Tao’s shoulder, Chen Qian said solemnly: “Face reality. You say Chi Xiaocheng’s yandere side is scary, but at least she truly loves you. She’s adorable, and imagine how cozy it’d be to cuddle her at night.” 1 True based yuri appreciator!!
“Are you serious right now?”
Chen Qian laughed. “Just teasing from your perspective.”
Su Tao felt discomfort. After what Chi Xiaocheng did, she should stay away.
But hearing Chen Qian talk about cuddling her stirred an odd jealousy… like her belongings were being stolen.
Su Tao changed the subject. “How should I reply to Xiaocheng?”
“Isn’t this a death question? There’s really only one option.”
‘Though the one dying might be Ye Liang.’
“Chi Xiaocheng’s a yandere. If you want to placate her, you have no choice but say you’d save her…. But you can tweak how you say it.”
“What do you mean?”
“The standard answer is ‘save you, not Ye Liang.’ But you could also say: ‘I’d save Ye Liang, so only we two remain in the river of love.’”
Su Tao was stunned. “Qianqian, you’ve never dated. How do you know all this?”
“Wow, you’re insulting me even though I’m helping you.” Chen Qian smirked. “I read a lot of novels. Stole these lines from the comments.”
Su Tao hesitated.
Chen Qian added: “The key is what she said before the question. She and Ye Liang had a ‘disagreement.’ If both like you, this question is your chance to pick a side.”

Su Tao gulped. “But she said it’s just a small… disagreement?”
“To a yandere, even tiny issues get magnified.”
Chen Qian sighed. “Remember what my uncle told you?”
“Dr. Cheng?”
“Right.” Chen Qian nodded. “Either send Chi Xiaocheng to a mental hospital for treatment… or try to accept and soothe her.”
The sleepy roommate piped up again: “Mental hospitals are bad. Remember that news about parents sending their kid to an internet-addiction camp, only for him to be beaten to death? The parents ‘tearfully’ pocketed 1.4 million. Mental hospitals are the same.”
Two choices?
More like no choice at all!
Watching Su Tao agonize, Chen Qian gave the roommate a thumbs-up. The roommate smirked. No words needed.
Just then, Su Tao’s phone buzzed again.
Chen Qian took it and tsked. “Look, Tao-Tao. Ye Liang’s messaging you.”
Ye Liang’s message: Su Tao, I was wrong last time. I need to talk. Come to my company.
“Again, summoning you to him. ‘I was wrong.’ Heheh, such a CEO-like apology.”
Su Tao bit her lip, gripping her phone tighter.
Chen Qian fanned the flames. “Stop overthinking. Ye Liang’s a rich young master. There are plenty of beauties around him. Maybe he’s just toying with you.”
For any girl, “he doesn’t care about you” is a devastating blow.

Long-term verbal conditioning, environmental pressure, and peer influence all gnawed at Su Tao’s nerves.
When all these erupted at once….
Memories surged like wind.
The good ones faded subconsciously.
The surrounding discussions took center stage.
Right. Maybe Ye Liang never cared.
Ordering her around, never showing concern. When Chi Xiaocheng locked her up for three days, he did nothing. Instead, he scolded her when they met.
‘If he cared, why didn’t he come for me?’
And now? A half-hearted apology, demanding she run to his company like a servant!
How did Chi Xiaocheng apologize after wronging her?
Tearful, clutching her sleeve, full of remorse, begging not to be abandoned.
The towering figure in her heart cracked apart.
Su Tao typed two words and sent them: “Not going!”
Chen Qian and the roommate watched silently, cold smiles curling their lips.
Behind them, a petite girl with tea-colored hair seemed to loom like a shadowy ghost.
