Cannon Fodder – Chapter 97 – Chi Xiaocheng’s Psychological Report
“Okay, doctor.”
Chi Xiaocheng tried to remain calm, but saying she wasn’t nervous would be a lie.
After all, there was no guarantee her acting skills would work, and she had no idea what questions this doctor might ask.
If they were particularly tricky or targeted questions, she might not be able to answer them convincingly with just acting.
But to Chi Xiaocheng’s surprise, the doctor’s questions weren’t that difficult after all.
The first question was quite common: “Student, is there anything causing you stress or anxiety recently?”
“Uh…” Facing Dr. Chen’s question, Chi Xiaocheng shook her head in confusion. “I don’t feel particularly stressed lately.”
Dr. Chen continued, “Then are there things that make you happy? Personal improvements, or changes in your friendships?”
The questions were completely normal, almost boringly so.
Thinking she should play along, Chi Xiaocheng followed Dr. Chen’s lead:
“There are quite a few happy things, mainly that Tao-Tao and I resolved our misunderstandings.”
Dr. Chen maintained his gentle smile. “Is Tao-Tao your friend? Could you tell me about your relationship?”
“Of course.”
Making up stories happened to be her forte. This could also use the psychological report to send Su Tao a message that the original host had always loved her.

As time passed, Chi Xiaocheng realized Dr. Chen wasn’t actually probing about her yandere tendencies.
It seemed he was genuinely just assessing her mental state.
Rather than doctor and patient, their conversation felt more like catching up with an old friend.
‘Right, Tao-Tao didn’t ask for psychological evaluation to confirm if I’m a yandere. Maybe she already completely believes it and just wants to check my mental health.’
Realizing Dr. Chen meant no harm and being subtly guided, Chi Xiaocheng mixed truth with lies, weaving in her Intermediate Acting skills.
They chatted like this for over an hour following Dr. Chen’s topics.
After coming out and drinking some water, she seamlessly transitioned to Dr. Lin arranged by Si Chen.
Dr. Lin wore the same spring-like gentle smile as Dr. Chen. “Miss Chi, how was it? Any pressure from Dr. Chen?”
“He just asked about daily life topics. Not as tricky as I imagined.”
Since Si Chen was on her side and Dr. Lin knew about her faking yandere behavior, Chi Xiaocheng didn’t need to hide much.
She asked, “Dr. Lin, based on Si Chen’s advice, we can’t use the prearranged diagnosis report anymore right?”
Dr. Lin nodded. “Later I’ll need to compare notes with Dr. Chen. He’s unaware of your situation and thinks this is just routine screening.”
“No wonder he didn’t ask any targeted questions.”
“Miss Chi, let me also ask you some routine questions. It wouldn’t look good if I had nothing to say in the report.”

“Okay, thank you Dr. Lin. If the report doesn’t work out, don’t force it.”
“Mhmm.”
Dr. Lin’s smile was warm and voice gentle. Talking to him gave Chi Xiaocheng the same comforting feeling as with Dr. Chen; like a spring breeze.
Compared to her fake “Dr. Cheng” persona, both doctors far surpassed her in details and questioning techniques.
She even felt that if Su Tao seriously investigated the “Dr. Cheng” identity, she probably couldn’t maintain the facade.
Previous conversations had too many loopholes.
Fortunately, while she knew nothing about psychology, Su Tao was equally clueless.
The only regret was she couldn’t use this evaluation to further pressure Su Tao as originally planned.
During questioning, because they were familiar, Dr. Lin’s questions were more pointed than Dr. Chen’s.
But most still focused on daily interactions between her and Su Tao, similar to Dr. Chen.
Nearing the end, Dr. Lin took a sip of water and said gently: “From a professional psychological perspective, Miss Chi you definitely aren’t the possessive or dependent type of yandere.”
Chi Xiaocheng confidently placed hands on hips. “I’ve said it before, real yanderes wouldn’t know they’re yanderes. I’m fully aware of my actions and rationally playing both possessive and dependent yandere roles around Tao-Tao, so naturally I’m not one.”
Dr. Lin nodded slightly. “Your acting is excellent, better than many performing arts students I’ve known.”
Chi Xiaocheng sheepishly touched her hair. “Maybe it’s natural talent.”

“Finally, could I test your acting? An old professor I know wants to take on an apprentice and asked me to recommend someone. If possible, I’d like you to meet him. More connections mean more opportunities.”
“Of course.”
Without overthinking, Chi Xiaocheng quietly activated Intermediate Acting, first calming her expression.
“Go ahead Dr. Lin. How would you like me to perform?”
“I’ll say a line, and you act out the yandere response?”
“OK!”
Dr. Lin’s lips curved slightly. Interlacing his fingers with index fingers pressed to his lips, his gaze suddenly turned intense and oppressive.
“Actually, Young Master Si Chen still likes Miss Su Tao. He just doesn’t show it around you.”
Instantly, a dangerous red light flashed in Chi Xiaocheng’s eyes.
Her voice lowered slightly: “Dr. Lin… is this true?”
Dr. Lin spread his hands, chuckling lightly: “Just joking! Your acting is impressive!”
Chi Xiaocheng paused, then proudly replied: “Of course. I’ve got Tao-Tao completely handled.”
Standing up, she added: “I’ll leave the report to you Dr. Lin. If you ever need my help, contact me through Si Chen. Also about my situation….”
“Don’t worry.” Dr. Lin tapped the recorder on the table. “This ran out of battery. As a psychologist I have professional ethics. We’re just kindred spirits who hit it off, aren’t we?”

Shaking Dr. Lin’s hand, Chi Xiaocheng felt reassured.
Her Alert skill hadn’t triggered at all.
If Dr. Lin had ill intentions with her information, the Intermediate Alert skill would definitely have detected it.
Not long after Chi Xiaocheng left, Si Chen arrived.
As the two doctors compared notes. After Dr. Lin compiled the summary, he addressed Dongfang Yang, Si Chen and Su Tao.
“According to the diagnostic report, Miss Chi is currently under severe high-pressure conditions.”
“High pressure?” Su Tao questioned first. “Xiaocheng seems completely normal daily.”
Si Chen gave Su Tao a puzzled look as if saying: You really think Chi Xiaocheng is normal?
Clueless Dongfang Yang nodded along: “I think she seems normal too, just a bit dumb. Are you sure her intelligence is okay?”
Dr. Chen interjected: “Young master, please set aside your prejudices. Miss Chi’s surface normality actually stems from subconscious suppression and concealment of this pressure. Her stress primarily originates from insecurity and anxiety.
“Moreover, she gives me a very contradictory impression.”
“Contradictory?”
“Yes.” Dr. Chen adjusted his glasses. “I feel she’s constantly… performing as someone else.”
