Chapter 15: Ex-Husband
Chapter 15: Ex-Husband
Looking into Su Yunzhou's sincere and earnest eyes, Liu Yiyi hesitated for a moment before shaking her head.
Li Yan's beautiful eyes were filled with regret. She actually really wanted to go.
It was Louis Vuitton! What woman wouldn't like it? Although she had a few bags herself, most of them hadn't come from an official boutique.
Reluctant to miss the opportunity, Li Yan said, "Mr. Su, I was just joking earlier..."
Su Yunzhou interrupted her. "But I'm not joking!"
He felt a bit helpless about this. This was completely different from the web novels he used to read! In those stories, the protagonist would take a campus belle or an internet celebrity out for a spending spree. SWISH, SWISH, SWISH! They would instantly max out their Affinity and get cashbacks of at least tens or hundreds of thousands. But for him, it was actually hard to even spend money!
In truth, mature young women fell into two categories. One type was after money and physical pleasure. The other was looking for love and an emotional connection. Liu Yiyi happened to belong to the latter. She was wealthy, beautiful, intellectual, and elegant. The difficulty of trying to win over such a woman with money was obvious.
Li Yan fell somewhere in between. Her family background forced her to care about money, but what she wanted wasn't just a small sum.
Su Yunzhou looked helpless. He was just about to say something when the two women suddenly froze. He followed their gaze.
Not far away stood an exquisitely dressed young woman. She wore a deliberately alluring black fairy-style dress. A sparkling gold zodiac necklace hung around her slender neck, the cute little animal bouncing against her ample cleavage, giving her an exceptionally youthful and vibrant look.
She was linking arms with a middle-aged man who carried a smug look in his eyes. He appeared to be in his thirties, dressed in a sharp suit with slicked-back hair and a slight beer belly, projecting the image of a successful man. The couple chatted and laughed as they walked in their direction.
Li Yan's expression showed undisguised disgust. Liu Yiyi furrowed her brows, her face turning exceedingly grim.
"Let's go back! I'm a bit tired!" Liu Yiyi said, grabbing her best friend's hand to leave.
However, a slightly mocking voice came from behind them.
"Liu Yiyi, your taste in men is getting worse and worse! Even though you left me, you don't have to lower your standards this much, do you?"
Hearing this, Li Yan stopped in her tracks. "Zhao Xiu, don't assume everyone is as filthy-minded as you are."
Zhao Xiu smiled disdainfully. "And as for you, you unmarriageable old spinster, I think the filthiest ones are your family..."
"Shut up, Zhao Xiu!"
Liu Yiyi guessed what he was going to say next, which was the deepest pain in her best friend's heart. With anger flashing in her eyes, she said coldly, "You need to get one thing straight: I was the one who chose to divorce you. Secondly, it's my freedom to be with whoever I want."
At this point, Liu Yiyi sized up the young woman. "Little girl, you need to keep your eyes open when looking for a man. It's only been a few months since he divorced me, and I don't even know how many girls he's cycled through. As one woman to another, let me give you a piece of advice: don't end up with nothing, having been tricked out of both your money and your body."
The young woman looked a bit uncomfortable but didn't say anything. She wasn't stupid; she was only with this man for his money. This classic trope of an ex-wife running into an ex-husband was something she often saw in melodramatic TV shows. She wasn't foolish enough to wade into these muddy waters.
Hearing this, Zhao Xiu flew into a rage out of humiliation. Earlier, when he saw his ex-wife walking with this young man, he had felt uncomfortable. Especially after noticing that the other guy was more handsome than him, he had wanted to throw out a few mocking remarks. He hadn't expected his ex-wife to be even more aggressive than him.
"Heh!" Zhao Xiu cast a provocative glance at the silent Su Yunzhou. "Pretty boy, let me teach you something too: a man needs to have hard assets."
With that said, he wrapped his arm around the young woman's slender waist and walked toward the Louis Vuitton store ahead.
Seeing this, Su Yunzhou felt quite displeased. He thought, "I literally have a system, and you still dare to show off your hard assets in front of me!"
Watching her ex-husband walk away, Liu Yiyi said in a frosty tone, "Yanyan, let's go back too!"
"Wait!" Su Yunzhou said, looking at the two women. "I told you I was going to reward you handsomely! Besides..."
He paused for a moment and looked ahead. "That guy just finished acting like a big shot in front of us. According to standard plotlines, shouldn't we return the favor? Expose his true colors?"
Li Yan nodded. "Yiyi, I don't think we should just leave like this! We need to vent this frustration!"
"But..." Liu Yiyi's eyes held a trace of hesitation, so Li Yan chipped in a few more words of encouragement.
A moment later, she finally agreed to go into the store and take her ex-husband down a peg. At the same time, she whispered to her best friend, "If we really buy anything, we'll transfer the money back to him after we come out."
At the Louis Vuitton store, sales advisor Amy had long since noticed the two groups of people not far away.
She still had an impression of Zhao Xiu and Liu Yiyi. In the past, during important holidays, the two would come here to pick out gifts for each other. Based on their spending level, they ranked as Class-B clients.
However, the two hadn't visited together for the past few months. Instead, Zhao Xiu would occasionally bring a young and beautiful female companion to the store to buy a low-end, out-of-season women's bag.
Amy scoffed at this a bit, only able to sigh at how easily these young girls were fooled. But for the sake of money, she gave him plenty of room to show off every single time.
Anyone with eyes could see what was going on with the scene unfolding before them. Smoothing out her uniform, she looked at Zhao Xiu and his new female companion as they approached and offered a sweet smile.
"Hello, Mr. Zhao! Today, I will once again be providing you with our VIP service."
Zhao Xiu nodded in satisfaction. This saleswoman knew how to cater to him, which was why he always messaged her in advance to have her wait on him whenever he visited.
After speaking, Amy smiled politely at Liu Yiyi. "Ms. Liu, please wait a moment with your friends. An advisor will be right over to assist you!"
"Let's go!" Zhao Xiu urged. "My time isn't as cheap as some people's."
Amy nodded obediently. "Mr. Zhao, please step this way!" Then, speaking into her collar microphone, she said, "Lucy, come over and assist the other group of guests."
Liu Yiyi furrowed her brows, feeling a bit displeased, but ultimately said nothing and stood quietly to the side, waiting.
A moment later, a young girl with a few freckles on her face, wearing a black uniform, walked over quickly.
"Hello, my name is Lucy, and I'll be serving you today."
As an intern sales associate, she didn't get many opportunities to serve customers, so she cherished every chance she got. There was an unspoken rule in the store: guests judged to have low spending potential were generally handed over to interns.
"Hello!" Su Yunzhou smiled politely. "We'd like to look at some women's bags."
"Alright! Please follow me!" Lucy led the three of them inside.
At the same time, she subtly assessed her clients' attire to gauge their spending power. This was a mandatory skill for every top-tier salesperson.
There was no need to say much about the two ladies; they were both dressed impeccably. As for the man, although his outfit was simple, the texture of his light blue casual shirt was excellent. One look and you could tell it wasn't cheap. The material of his jeans was also refined, indicating a high level of purchasing power. However, there were no visible logos or classic patterns on the outside of his clothes.
Wait! Lucy's eyes shifted, noticing a tiny detail. Over the past few days, in order to become a permanent employee, she had been cramming information on the characteristics of major luxury brands. With her sharp eyes, she spotted an incredibly inconspicuous small vicuña-colored equal sign logo on the side of the man's jeans.
This... This was Zegna!
The spending power of a customer who wore this brand was self-evident. Why would Sister Amy hand over this kind of client to her? Had she misunderstood her before? Was she trying to help her grow through seemingly oppressive methods?
Harboring these doubts, Lucy continuously adjusted her mindset. She had a premonition. Getting hired full-time... might just happen today.
