Volume 2, Chapter 50 – A Maiden’s Promise

Aside from a slight stinging sensation, Yisi felt nothing at all.

Soon, the girl—Andrea—released Yisi. It was less like an act of bloodsucking and more like a fleeting, ritualistic gesture. Then, with concern in her eyes, Andrea circled behind Yisi to check for any abnormalities. Once she confirmed there were none, her worried expression melted into a pure, radiant smile, bright as sunlight.

“See, no mark of servitude. You really are a strange one… Now that we’ve exchanged blood, we’re friends! You’re my first friend, so you should feel honored.”

“Not at all.”

Is this girl a child?

Because Yisi didn’t feel like she had properly compensated Andrea, she couldn’t help but ask, “Is there anything I can do for you? Like, do you lack something or need anything urgently? I think I should be able to help.”

“Lack of something?” Andrea tilted her head slightly, resting her index finger on her chin as she pondered seriously, her pink twin tails swaying with the motion. “Hmm… Borris said the territory is currently lacking the strength to suppress the southern nobles. We need someone who can intimidate them.”

“Is that so… How about a monster?”

“A monster?”

“I have a Hydra monster egg. Once it hatches, it’ll obey your commands. Although a newly hatched Hydra is still a juvenile—at most, about one percent of my strength—it should still be able to help you.”

A juvenile Hydra’s strength ranges between levels 50 and 60. Given that Andrea was only level 21, it would be more than enough.

“Can it defeat Borris in one hit like you did?”

A spark of excitement flashed in Andrea’s golden eyes, reminding Yisi of a child who had just gotten a new toy.

Yisi glanced at Borris’s level—51.

“Probably… yes. Each of the Hydra’s heads represents a different element. If used properly, it can unleash power beyond its level.”

With that, Yisi retrieved a barrel-sized monster egg from her storage. Worried that Andrea might not be able to carry it, she placed it on the ground.

Sensing the latent power within the egg, Andrea stepped over it and excitedly threw her arms around Yisi.

“Thank you! With this, everyone won’t have to fight anymore!”

“Haah, as long as you’re satisfied.”

Yisi let out a long sigh, finally feeling like she had properly compensated Andrea.

Though, why do I keep running into loli and little girl characters? If this were a gentle older sister, she’d probably say something heroic like, ‘Alright, I’ll help you defeat the bad guys!’

“Cough… Y-Your Majesty…”

The middle-aged man named Borris finally managed to climb out of the crater. Sensing the hostility in his gaze, Yisi gently pushed the excited pink-haired girl away.

“I should get going. Take these two things. One is [Mistilteinn’s Blessing—Highest Grade]. As long as someone has even a single breath left, it can save them. The other is a group teleportation crystal. If you crush it, no matter where you are—even if you’re in another dimension—you and everyone within a hundred meters will be teleported to me. I’ll protect you and everyone around you then.”

“A group teleportation crystal… Isn’t that something only the gods possess? Even Mother doesn’t have one.”

“Just take it.”

“Is it a token of friendship?”

“No—” Yisi had originally intended to say it was compensation for her guilt toward Andrea, but the girl’s innocent smile made her swallow those words. Instead, she shrugged helplessly. “Sure, let’s go with that. Well then, goodbye.”

Yisi activated her flight magic and slowly rose into the air.

Andrea jumped up excitedly, waving at Yisi and shouting, “We’ll meet again!”

“Hopefully. [Advanced Teleportation].”
