Volume 2, Chapter 60 – Refina’s Loss of Self

After returning to the tavern and confirming that Camilla, Shinku, and the others were unharmed, Yisi once again used teleportation magic to hunt down the fleeing Imperial Fallen.

However, when Yisi consulted the “Omniscient Map,” she discovered a puzzling sight.

All the fleeing Imperial Fallen had been gathered in one place, surrounded by members of the Vampire. Naturally, Yisi searched for the names of the Vampire members and found Refina among them.

“Refina? And Cecil? Why are they here?”

Refina was one thing, but Cecil, in the memory of the Count’s eldest daughter, was a submissive, mature woman who lacked personality. Her only virtues were her delicious blood and her obedience.

“No, regardless of the reason, since they’re here, they can take the Imperial Fallen back for me. It’ll save me the trouble of using teleportation magic.”

Using teleportation magic to travel directly between two major domains was a bit too world-shaking. Yisi wanted to avoid it if she could.

Switching back to her appearance as the Count’s eldest daughter, she first rubbed her face to put on a terrifying expression, then picked up the mud-caked Ander and appeared behind Refina.

She threw Ander to the ground as if tossing a baby chick.

“Refina, you all—”

“M-Master?” Startled by Yisi’s sudden appearance behind her, Refina whipped around. Upon seeing Yisi, her red eyes instantly filled with joy. “It really is you, Master! I knew you had already found us!”

Does ‘already found’ mean just now, on the Omniscient Map?

Yisi was a little confused, but she continued the conversation with a blank expression nonetheless.

“What are you doing here?”

“After you hinted for us to capture these Imperial rats, Master, we mobilized everyone to form an encirclement and cornered them.”

At this, Refina pointed to the Imperial Fallen, who were surrounded by the black-clad Vampire members like stray dogs. She then looked back at Yisi, her eyes shining like stars, like a puppy expecting praise from its master. Yisi couldn’t help but feel that if Refina had a tail, it would be wagging like a propeller.

No, that’s not the point. The question is, when did I ever hint for Refina to capture the Imperial Fallen?

Although she wanted to ask directly, Yisi couldn’t, due to the established persona of the Count’s eldest daughter as a cold and exceptionally wise individual.

Perhaps this is just how Refina and the Count’s daughter normally communicate.

Of course, since Refina was clearly asking for a reward, as her master, Yisi had to give her something. Even the original Count’s daughter wouldn’t have been stingy in a situation like this.

Yisi folded one arm across her chest and placed her free hand on her chin, feigning a thoughtful expression.

“You do indeed need to be rewarded… Refina, do you want gold, or a holiday?”

Then again, why is Refina here in the first place? And what’s the deal with the Vampire members behind her?

Yisi’s words made Refina blush. She clasped her hands bashfully at her waist. Despite wearing practical combat gear, she gave off the air of a shy childhood friend.

“I want Master’s… Master’s favor.”

Favor ?

After a second’s pause, Yisi understood the meaning of “favor.” It referred to the sort of adult activities the Count’s daughter used to frequently engage in with her “pets,” much like an ancient emperor showing favor to his concubines.

Somehow, I’m not surprised…

Yisi wasn’t particularly surprised. The Count’s daughter’s memories were filled with sensuality and violence; after witnessing all of that, her own resistance had naturally grown stronger. If Yisi had to describe this body, she could only use the word “lewd.”

A smile playing on her lips, Yisi beckoned to the blushing Refina. When Refina drew near, Yisi suddenly pulled her into an embrace, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and leaning close to her ear.

“Do you want… to do it here?”

“H-Here?”

Like a startled rabbit, Refina glanced nervously at the Vampire death squad and the Imperial Fallen behind them. A deep crimson blush rushed from her neck to the tips of her ears. As much as she desired Yisi, to be seen by so many men would be an act of utter disloyalty. She hesitated and lowered her head.

Yisi secretly breathed a sigh of relief. If Refina had actually agreed, she would have been the one in an awkward spot.

Breathing lightly into Refina’s ear, Yisi continued in the Count’s daughter’s unique tone, a mixture of cruelty and flirtation.

“Remember to be mindful of the situation before you speak next time. I’ll let it slide this once.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Yisi’s gaze shifted to Refina’s neck. Recalling Refina’s strange fondness for being bitten, she hesitated for a split second before sinking her fangs in.

Refina shuddered. Realizing Yisi was drinking her blood, she bit her lip lightly, her body trembling as if she were trying to endure something. Yisi could even feel her body temperature rising and a thin sheen of sweat forming on her skin.

The blood-drinking continued for about thirty seconds.

Had it been Shinku or Camilla, Yisi would have withdrawn her fangs by now. But the Count’s daughter always fed for at least three minutes, so Yisi had no choice but to continue. However, Refina’s reaction became abnormal. Her trembling grew from barely perceptible to violent enough to make her clothes rustle. She hugged her arms tightly to her chest as if desperately trying to keep herself still.

Two minutes passed quickly.

By now, something was clearly wrong with Refina. Her breathing grew heavy and ragged, her skin turned a flushed pink as if after intense exercise, and her back was soaked with sweat. Just as Yisi was preparing to stop, Refina—her purple side-ponytail having come undone at some point—finally made a move.

Unable to control herself, she turned, her orange-red eyes glazed over. She threw her arms around Yisi’s neck and, to Yisi’s astonishment, pressed their lips together. As if savoring the world’s finest wine, she desperately craved the saliva of a pureblood, her fervor so intense that Yisi could hardly breathe.

Whoa… has she completely lost it?

Getting over her initial shock, Yisi began to consider her next move.

The Count’s daughter had often encountered this sort of thing in the past, but she had never resisted. In fact, when this happened, it was usually the prelude to drawing the curtains on the canopy bed and proceeding to the next step.

I absolutely have to avoid that…

After careful consideration, Yisi chose to push Refina away. Although Refina was confused and instinctively tried to press back into the embrace, she was no match for Yisi’s strength.

Yisi tilted her head and looked at the other “pet,” Cecil.

“Cecil, snap her out of it.”

“Yes, Master.”

For some reason, Cecil’s face was also bright red, but she carried out the order nonetheless. Grabbing a handful of unmelted snow from the ground, she walked up to Refina and pressed it against her face.

“Eek!”

Like someone sitting down only to find the chair wet, Refina let out a small shriek. The haze in her orange-red eyes instantly cleared, and she snapped out of her trance.

“C-Cecil!?”

“Refina, you went too far.”

Cecil’s reminder made Refina’s expression freeze. A look of fear crept onto her face as she turned stiffly toward Yisi.

“Master…”

“Hmph.”

Feigning indifference with a snort, Yisi inwardly stuck out her tongue at herself. Here I am, getting lucky and still acting displeased. Back on Earth, I’d never have gotten a chance with a beautiful girl like Refina.

This is all out of necessity.

As she chided herself, Yisi also felt a sense of dissonance. Normally, she should have been flustered when Refina kissed her. But just now, aside from a brief moment of shock, all she had felt was a practiced calm and an impulse to respond in kind.

It’s definitely the influence of the Count’s daughter’s memories again.

Sooner or later, I have to get these memories out of my head.

Pushing the personality issues to the back of her mind, Yisi pointed Refina and Cecil toward Ander, whom she had tossed aside. He had already passed out, likely from the pain of his broken bones.

“Since you’re here, take this war prize back for me. As the leader of the Imperial Fallen, he knows more than the average person. What’s more, he has an item that can summon a monster over level 40. The Empire must have more than one of these. Relay what I’ve said to Father and tell him to be on alert.”

“And you, Master?”

“I have more important matters to attend to. If I’m not mistaken, there should be clues in the Hermion domain to the west.”

The Blazing Eyeworm disappeared in that area, and I’ve also found a clue—looking down from the sky, there are signs of an intense battle within the Hermion domain. The opponent was a fire-elemental monster. Not only that, but Lake Antonio in the domain has been completely evaporated.

It was hard to imagine what could have happened there. Due to a lack of time, Yisi hadn’t been able to question the nearby residents. To find out exactly what happened, she had to go there herself.

“But speaking of which, why are you and the others here, Refina?”

“Well…”

Refina looked troubled, but compelled by Yisi’s authority as her master, she eventually revealed they had been sent on the orders of Count Pescia. Yisi was momentarily speechless.

“Never mind. Since you caught these Fallen for me, I won’t hold you accountable. But you must take the Imperial Fallen back to the domain for me and hand them over to Father.”

“Yes, Master.”

Refina and Cecil nodded with solemn expressions. Yisi waved her hand.

“That’s all I have to say. Give my regards to Father.”

Unfurling the vampire wings at her waist, Yisi used flight magic to slowly ascend into the air, eventually disappearing from the Vampire members’ view.
