Volume 3, Chapter 10 – Let’s Boil a Slime Girl!

After reaching an agreement, Yisi had Tiffany stay in the carriage while she went outside for dinner. It wasn’t until late at night, when all was quiet, that she took Tiffany and teleported.

The location was a forest not far from the adventurers’ camp. To clear a space, Yisi used [Wind Blad]’ to sweep away the surrounding trees and bushes.

“Next up is… Tiffany, could you please stand in the wooden bucket first?”

“Mhm.”

Yisi had already confirmed with Tiffany beforehand that a slime’s sense of pain was slightly duller than a human’s. They would feel heat from a flame and a stinging sensation if pierced by a sharp object. Therefore, Yisi planned to have Tiffany ‘die’ first before proceeding with the disinfection.

In short, she would first remove the magic core from Tiffany’s body, causing her to lose consciousness, and then follow the procedure.

In her green-twin-tailed loli form, Tiffany stepped into the wooden bucket. She then tossed aside the bedsheet draped over her body, deactivated her [Mimic] skill, and reverted to the faceless, translucent green slime girl.

The [Mimic] skill was similar to Yisi’s [Second Form Awakening], both being transformation-type skills that continuously consumed MP. According to Yisi’s observation, Tiffany’s magic recovery speed was very slow, completely unable to keep up with the consumption rate. She could only maintain the form for less than four hours of continuous use.

Yisi walked up to Tiffany, her blue eyes meeting Tiffany’s green ones.

“I’m going to start, okay? I need to take out your magic core first.”

“Mhm.”

Tiffany nodded, then cupped her hands to her chest, causing the magic core hidden inside her body to surface at her chest. Given the pitch-black surroundings, if Yisi weren’t a vampire, she would never have been able to see these changes.

“Alright then…”

Calming herself, Yisi reached her hand into Tiffany’s chest.

A cool sensation spread across the skin of her arm, as if she had stuck her hand into jelly. It was at this moment that Tiffany let out a muffled grunt.

That’s probably a slime’s sense of pain.

Shaking the impure thoughts from her mind, Yisi tried to grasp the magic core. However, since a slime’s body was full of liquid, the core would shift its position whenever Yisi’s hand moved. After more than three attempts, her right hand, stirring inside Tiffany’s body, finally caught the magic core.

She subconsciously looked up at Tiffany and couldn’t help but feel relieved. It was a good thing Tiffany had deactivated her ‘Mimic’ skill. If her chest had just softened like when she absorbed the magic potion earlier, her current actions would certainly be seen by any onlooker as indecent, accompanied by an overwhelming sense of guilt.

“I’m going to take it out now, okay?”

“Mhm.”

Without further hesitation, Yisi pulled her hand out.

Splat—

Tiffany instantly dissolved into a pool of liquid.

“This feels kind of grotesque…”

After confirming that none of Tiffany’s body fluid had spilled out, Yisi opened her right hand, which held the core. Inside was a blue magic core, only the size of a thumbnail, its irregular shape looking like a fragment of some mineral at first glance.

“Just in case, let’s finish this quickly.”

Yisi had already planned out the next steps before they started.

She used [Earth Grasp], which could alter terrain, to create an earth wall—the wall would prevent the firelight from being spotted by the adventurers on watch. Then, she used the same method to build an earthen stove, took out a large pot for steaming, and placed crushed fragments from an [Ice Wall] into it.

After the ice melted and the water boiled, she skimmed Tiffany’s corpse—a translucent, pale green film—from the other wooden bucket and tossed it into the pot. With that, the physical disinfection was complete.

“If we weren’t in the middle of a journey, I’d want to dry this under the sun.”

Of course, it would be even more convenient if she had nanomachines on hand, but alas, this was another world.

With the sound of bubbling water in the background, Yisi let out a long sigh.

“I never thought I’d meet someone in another world who’s over a thousand years older than me, and born in a chaotic era at that. It’s a shame she didn’t make it to the Republican Era. Well, it’s not like I was born into a true utopian society either.”

She wondered if she would ever meet someone born after her. If she did, she would have to ask them if a true utopia was ever established—and if the authors of those manga and novels ever finished their stories.

“Speaking of which, I think I forgot something important.”

Could Tiffany, like me, have originally been a physically and mentally healthy male?

“Probably not…”

Tiffany always gave off the impression of having poor language skills, reminiscent of a cute, quiet girl.

“Well, it’s not that important. As long as she’s cute now, it’s fine. With a new life, one must adapt to a new way of living.”

After waiting a little longer, Yisi turned her attention to the wooden bucket containing Tiffany’s body fluid. Theoretically, this bucket now contained countless viruses waiting for a host. Originally, Yisi had planned to burn it, but now she had a new idea.

Saliva began to secrete uncontrollably.

What would Tiffany taste like?

She had already verified that a slime’s body fluid could indeed serve as blood. If different people had different flavors, then different slimes should have different flavors too.

“Even if it’s full of viruses, it’s worth a try…”

Yisi took out a test tube, collected a small amount of Tiffany’s blood, and held it in front of her.

The liquid was a pale green, the same color as a slime, but it didn’t have the gelatinous feel. It was a fluid that flowed easily, like water.

With the thought that even if she got sick, she could immediately take Winterbloom Grass to cure herself, Yisi mustered her courage.

“I dared to try the blood of an ice wolf and even my own. A mere slime is nothing… If I falter here, how will I ever find champagne-flavored blood in the future?”

Swallowing hard, Yisi tilted her head back and downed Tiffany’s body fluid in one gulp.

A clear, sweet taste.

Unlike the previous slime she had tasted, Tiffany’s blood had a hint of alcohol. But unlike Camilla’s blood, which also had an alcoholic taste, Tiffany’s had no bitterness, and the alcohol content was extremely low. If Yisi had to describe it, it was somewhat like alcoholic vitamin water.

Feeling the blood slide down her esophagus and into her stomach, Yisi smacked her lips, savoring the aftertaste.

“The taste is certainly good, but is this really a slime’s blood? Compared to human blood, the texture? Or maybe the shape? Hmm… the thickness? In any case, it’s a bit weaker.”

Yisi couldn’t find the right word to describe it. It was probably because human blood was thicker, while slime blood was like water. Slime blood could never be as potent as human blood. Of course, in terms of taste alone, Tiffany’s blood was on par with Lefina’s and Mary’s, second only to Camilla’s and that of other pure-blooded Andrea.

Afterward, Yisi checked her own status bar—the ‘Calamity Affliction’ status did not appear.

“Isn’t this a bit strange? Why am I not infected even after this?”

If the calamity could be transmitted through slimes, then drinking the ‘original slime body fluid’ directly should have made her sick immediately.

Her thoughts yielded no results. After waiting for nearly half an hour, Yisi finally lifted the pot lid. A large amount of white steam billowed out instantly. Inside, Tiffany’s ‘corpse’ was floating in the boiling water.

“I remember Tiffany said I also needed to use magic to disinfect it, but what does that mean…?”

She couldn’t just roast it with a fireball.

After thinking for a while, Yisi selected two spells from her skill list. The first was [Undine’s Blessing], and the second was [Purify]. [Undine’s Blessing] could remove negative effects, including the mark of the Fallen. [Purify] was a holy magic similar to baptism that could make impurities and unclean things disappear.

After using them in sequence, Yisi looked at the iron pot, now enveloped in a golden light of purification.

“That should be it…”

Yisi skimmed Tiffany’s corpse out of the pot and placed it in another wooden bucket. Following the procedure for reviving a slime, she put water, the magic core, and Tiffany’s corpse together and waited for her to revive.

Even though she had tried it with a regular slime before, Yisi was still worried it might fail this time. The being before her was not only an intelligent creature but also someone from her own world. If she failed to revive her, her actions would be equivalent to murder.

As it turned out, Yisi’s worries were completely unnecessary. Once the three items were put together, Tiffany’s magic core was quickly swallowed by the expanding corpse. Then, the corpse slowly grew larger, gradually becoming a rather large slime blob.

Yisi glanced at the Omniscient Map. The slime’s name was indeed Tiffany.

“But why isn’t she turning into her human form…”

No sooner had she said it than an abnormality occurred with the magic core inside Tiffany’s body. Under a blinding white light, the slime blob took on a human form. Yisi couldn’t help but feel relieved that she had used the earth wall to block the surroundings; otherwise, that flash of white light would have definitely attracted the adventurers on watch.

Then, Yisi made an unexpected discovery.

Tiffany’s level had dropped from 5 to 4.

“…Does reviving cost a level?”

The slime she had captured before didn’t have such a change.

It’s probably because Tiffany is a higher-class slime.

Yisi didn’t delve deeper. Losing experience upon resurrection was a conventional setting. Although it was strange for it to happen in reality, it wasn’t unacceptable.

While Yisi was looking down in thought, Tiffany, now standing in the bucket and looking a size smaller than before, made a move.

“Yisi.”

“Hmm?”

Just as Yisi looked up, she was suddenly embraced from the front by Tiffany. Because of Tiffany’s forward-leaning motion, the bucket tipped over, but being a slime, Tiffany didn’t fall. Instead, like a sloth, she wrapped her arms around Yisi’s neck and clung to her.

Not warm at all.

That was Yisi’s only thought.

“What’s wrong?”

“It was scary.”

It was still a voice that lacked emotional inflection, almost like a monotone reading, but Yisi could feel that Tiffany was genuinely afraid.

Maintaining the embrace, Yisi gently patted Tiffany on the back.

“Are you talking about when your magic core left your body?”

“Mhm. Very dark.”

“It won’t happen again.”

The ‘Calamity Affliction’ effect had been removed from Tiffany. Her method had worked.

Considering that Tiffany was likely a little girl and it was normal for her to be scared, Yisi remained still in the same position. But nearly ten minutes passed, and Tiffany showed no intention of getting down.

Feeling awkward, Yisi coughed twice.

“Ahem, Tiffany, are you asleep?”

“No.”

“Shouldn’t we be heading back?”

“Mhm.”

The subtext is that you should let go of me!

Of course, Yisi wouldn’t say it so bluntly. Instead, with a smile, she said in the gentlest tone possible.

“Can you get down from me now? I need to clean up the things around here.”

“Yisi, very sweet. Don’t want.”

Very sweet?

For a moment, she didn’t understand what Tiffany meant. But when she felt a cool, sliding sensation on her neck, she instantly understood.

—’Very sweet’ was describing her taste.

Although she didn’t know why she was sweet, or what exactly was sweet, since Tiffany had described Mary as very bitter, this ‘sweet’ must be referring to a person’s taste.

Yisi couldn’t help but feel a chill run down her spine. She pulled Tiffany away—but failed. Slimes had excellent elasticity. Yisi could use her brute force to keep Tiffany’s body at a distance, but Tiffany could simply extend her arms to maintain the embrace.

Even if it was grotesque.

Helpless, Yisi could only threaten her.

“If you don’t let go, I’ll leave you here.”

“Ngh.”

Although it was just a single sound, Yisi could hear a sense of regret in Tiffany’s voice. The latter reluctantly let go and stood back on the ground.

Yisi’s expression became strange.

“…Let me say this upfront, I don’t taste good.”

The answer was a shake of the head.

“No, no, I know this sounds weird, but I’ve tried it. I am absolutely the worst-tasting thing in the world.”

“Yisi, sweet, magic, recover.”

With great effort, Tiffany uttered single, grammatically unconnected words. During this, she also transformed back into the human girl with spring-green twin-tails.

“Are you saying you recover magic?”

Yisi glanced at the map. In just ten minutes, Tiffany’s MP had gone from 0 to 20. From Yisi’s previous observation, this was a recovery speed Tiffany was absolutely incapable of achieving.

Does being close to me accelerate her magic recovery?

It felt incredible.

After telling Tiffany her thoughts, Tiffany shook her head and then added.

“Eat.”

To help Yisi understand, Tiffany even stuck out her tongue and made a licking motion. After pondering for a while, Yisi finally understood what she meant.

She meant recovering her magic by eating Yisi’s body fluids.

As expected of a slime…

She had a feeling that if Camilla found out, she would forbid Tiffany from getting near her.

But did this mean she could make a deal with Tiffany? For example, she could allow Tiffany to “eat” her to replenish her magic, and in return, she could consume Tiffany to replenish her blood. As a slime, Tiffany could completely convert ordinary water into blood, and the process wouldn’t be very long.

She’s a mobile blood bank.

This is heaven.

The thought made Yisi rub her hands together. With ill intentions, she suggested, while guiltily averting her gaze from Tiffany.

“Um… Tiffany, I have something I’d like to discuss with you. I’m actually a vampire and need to replenish my blood regularly. Lately, I’ve been running into urgent situations where I don’t have enough blood. If I fall into a Blood Frenzy, not only will others around me be in danger, but even you will be at risk. So, could you help me solve this problem? Of course, you would only have to pay a small price, and in return, I would allow you to do some… things you like to me.”

Besides replenishing her magic, nothing else will happen anyway.

Tiffany blinked her eyes and, to Yisi’s surprise, nodded cutely.

“Mhm.”

Yisi’s blue eyes lit up.

“You agree? You agree, right?”

“Mhm, agree.”

“Great! No take-backs once we’ve agreed, okay?”

“A promise is a promise.”

Tiffany extended her hand towards Yisi, and Yisi grasped it without hesitation.

A simple verbal contract was made.

Feeling a sense of relief, Yisi suddenly remembered her earlier question. While brushing her silver twin-tails back, she asked curiously.

“By the way, were you a girl before you transmigrated, Tiffany?”

Unexpectedly, Tiffany’s cold voice left Yisi stunned.

“I was a yokai.”
