Volume 3, Chapter 24 – The Past of the Flame Conquerors
The equipment forged for Camilla, Mary, and Tiffany were all custom-made, but due to the limited time, Yisi crafted a smaller number of items. Camilla only received a magic robe, Mary still had her shield, and Tiffany got a divine staff and a magic robe.
The reason she didn’t make a warrior outfit for the front-line Mary was because Yisi didn’t know how to make clothes.
The difference between a warrior outfit and a magic robe was fundamental. A magic robe’s main purpose was to enhance elemental affinity and increase magic power recovery speed, so most problems could be solved by simply changing the inscribed magic formula. A warrior outfit, on the other hand, was focused on defense, and this had to be addressed by the material of the clothes.
A simple solution would have been to add metal components like a helmet, shoulder guards, a chest plate, and knee guards to Mary’s clothes, but this went against Yisi’s preference—a beautiful girl should abandon heavy equipment like armor. That was why Yisi couldn’t immediately prepare a combat outfit for Mary.
I’ll prepare a combat outfit for Mary later, after I learn how to weave clothes with special silk.
The weapon shops in the Noble District also didn’t have equipment that fit Mary’s build. For now, Yisi could only add defensive formulas to Mary’s clothes to keep her from getting hurt.
Clementine stroked Mary’s shield, his eyes filled with amazement.
“Ooh! Is this the result of your trip to the weapon shop yesterday, Miss Yisi? I haven’t been to the old man’s shop in a while, and he’s already come up with so many magic pieces of equipment. No, even his forging skill has improved. This has reached the pinnacle of White Iron-rank magic weapons.”
“Mm…”
Yisi pretended not to hear and turned her face to the side. If she told Clementine that this was made by a novice blacksmith, Clementine would surely think she was joking.

The reason Clementine said these weapons were at the pinnacle of White Iron-rank was because Yisi had intentionally used low-grade materials. After the mistake of forging the first iron sword, Yisi no longer used the materials from “Ragnarök.” A thunder dragon that could cover the sky was too overpowered, and using it casually would definitely injure her teammates.
Besides, it was questionable whether Camilla and Mary could even wield that iron sword. The prerequisite for using a magic weapon was to inject it with magic power. If their magic power was insufficient, a magic weapon was no different from an ordinary one. The process of summoning the gigantic thunder dragon had consumed 200 of her magic points, which was still a distant goal for Camilla and Mary.
Furthermore, if the weapons were too good, they could attract the covetous eyes of others. Just as Clementine had instantly recognized the value of Twilight of Eternal Frost, if they always went out with such good weapons, they could be targeted by ill-intentioned thugs. While she could certainly protect her companions when she was with them, there would be times when they weren’t together. Losing a weapon wouldn’t be a serious loss, but if something were to happen to her companions because of it, she wouldn’t even have the right to regret it.
That was why Yisi had used less-than-excellent materials to forge weapons for her companions. White Iron-rank weapons were already enough for Camilla and the others until they reached level 10.
“I feel like my magic power is recovering faster.”
“I agree.”
Tiffany, wearing her magic robe, concurred with Camilla.
“The shield is heavier… but it also feels safer. The edge even has a steel blade now…”
“That’s because I remembered you smashing the silver wolves with your shield before. Since you’re not used to two-handed weapons, it’s fine to use your shield as a weapon. You can even use it to smash monsters while you’re defending.”

In terms of material, it had gone from an oak shield with an iron plating to a shield made entirely of steel. Considering it would be very heavy for Mary to lift, Yisi had also added a [Lightweight] magic formula to the shield. Unfortunately, because steel has very low magic adaptability, the shield could only be inscribed with one magic formula at most.
And the shape of the shield had changed from a trapezoidal shield tower to a shape more suitable for use as a weapon for bashing.
“Master, you were watching so carefully…”
“I’m always watching Mary.”
After all, she’s a child to worry about.
Yisi used her finger to wipe Mary’s reddened eyes.
“We shouldn’t delay any longer. Camilla and Mary, get used to your new equipment. You’ll be fighting monsters tomorrow, and you can’t go unprepared.”
“Yes, Onee-sama.”
“Mm… Master.”
Clementine walked over at the right time.

“Should we continue our battle from before? Battle is the fastest way to get used to something.”
“I’d be happy to.”
“If the Guild Leader says to continue, I can’t say no. But this time I might lose to Miss Mary. I’ve never seen a shield that terrifying. If I get hit by it once, my soul will probably go to see the Goddess.”
“Tiffany will heal you then.”
Yisi chuckled lightly. Compared to Camilla and Mary, Tiffany had a much longer road ahead of her. Tiffany was to serve as the team’s healer. Not only did she need to learn healing magic, but she also had to learn enhancement magic to support their combat, control the entire battle, and provide buffs when her companions needed them most.
Well, she doesn’t need to learn healing skills, though.
With [Healing Bite], which could directly heal injuries, and [Purify], which could remove negative statuses, she was already more than capable of handling most problems.
Pulling Tiffany to the side, Yisi, Camilla, and Clementine stood in an open area at a distance, watching Mary and the male adventurer’s battle.
“Keqiu is an offensive agile-type warrior. Not many people can last against him until he’s exhausted. It’s truly surprising that Mary-chan can hold out just with her defense until she runs out of stamina.”
With his arms crossed, Clementine watched the distance with a serious expression.

“What do you think of The Fallen, Clementine?”
Yisi’s words made Clementine turn his head, but when he saw that Yisi wasn’t looking at him, he turned back, unable to hold back a light laugh.
“I see. I don’t dislike The Fallen. In fact, some of my former comrades were The Fallen.”
“Former?”
“Yes, they all ‘went on an adventure.'”
“Went on an adventure” must mean they died. Yisi didn’t press the matter, but Clementine added in a very nostalgic tone.
“The Flame Conquerors wasn’t a guild I founded. When the guild was first established, most of the members were The Fallen, who were looked down upon by others. Because they had similar experiences, they banded together. As a result of their innate abilities, they quickly became the most famous adventurer guild in Antonio City. I was a novice at the time and joined them too. I thought they only recruited The Fallen, but they even took in an ordinary person like me who knew nothing.”
“And then?”
“Once you have fame, you attract jealousy. At that time, the guild that was considered number one in Antonio, the ‘Blue Sea’ group, kept coming to cause us trouble. The Fallen were used to being patient, so we all held back and didn’t bother with them. But during one of our group missions, we fell for their trap.”
