Volume 3, Chapter 42 – Epilogue
As if to host a banquet, this was a hall filled with the scent of wine and people’s laughter.
The red-carpeted room was full of men and women toasting each other, the tables were laden with all kinds of delicacies, and slightly boisterous music filled the air. If there was one day when the Flame Conquerors were the most extravagant, it was undoubtedly today.
The furniture for the banquet, the hired musicians and servants, plus the food and wine, would cost at least 10 gold coins in total. However, compared to the great disaster a few days ago, all these expenses could only be described as just right.
Unlike his usual attire, Clementine today was wearing a proper black tuxedo, paired with white gloves and long gray hair tied back, giving him the impression of a gentleman.
As if looking for something, he craned his neck and shook his head from side to side after finishing his speech. After a moment of searching, he finally found his target—Yisi, who was sharing food with her companions in a corner.
“Excuse me, excuse me.”
Pushing past the other guild members and invited guests who were in his way, Clementine walked straight towards Yisi. However, Yisi’s back was to the hall, so she didn’t see him.
“Ahem!”
Clementine, holding a wine glass, deliberately coughed. Yisi turned her head in response. Because she was attending a banquet, Yisi was no longer dressed casually today. Instead, she had changed into the formal dress that the Count’s eldest daughter would wear to a ball.
Her meticulously combed silver twin ponytails hung down on either side of her body, and a black and red hair ribbon further emphasized the word ‘luxury.’ Her usual dark evening dress was replaced by a vibrant red gown decorated with various ribbons and cutout lace. Paired with her meticulously carved, indifferent face and blue eyes, if Yisi were to attend a ball, she would definitely be the center of attention.
Of course, for Yisi herself, she actually wanted to wear something more ordinary. However, the simplest evening dress left by the Count’s eldest daughter was this one, so Yisi had no other choice.
Seeing that the person who came was Clementine, a mischievous look appeared in Yisi’s blue eyes.
“Oh my, isn’t this Mr. Clementine, who participated in the defense of Antonio City and is hailed as a hero by everyone? Why did you suddenly come to find me?”
“Uh…” Clementine, who was being teased, froze and awkwardly rubbed his nose. “Miss Yisi, please don’t mock me. A few days ago, I was beaten half to death by a demon. If it weren’t for your healing magic, I would still be in bed right now.”
“Even so, Mr. Clementine is a hero who, by himself, killed five lower-tier demons and led the guild members to resist the demonic invasion when the city gate was about to be breached. If the noble ladies knew that the first person you looked for after your speech was me, I’m afraid it would be difficult for me to even leave the house in the future.”
As Yisi said, Clementine’s Level 19 ability made him a top-tier fighter in Antonio City. As a result, he achieved a very brilliant record in the city defense battle half a month ago, and even Count Hermion personally awarded him a medal of honor.
Stunned into silence by Yisi, Clementine could only change the subject with a bitter expression, looking at Yisi’s companions, Camilla, Mary, and Tiffany, who were also wearing intricate dresses.
“Oh! These three ladies are also exceptionally charming today. Although it’s not my personal preference, Miss Camilla must have been invited to the evening ball by many people already, right?”
“Not interested.”
“Just as I thought, Miss Camilla is not interested in anything besides Miss Yisi.”
“Mr. Clementine is very handsome too.”

Putting down her fork, Mary praised Clementine in a very sincere tone. Clementine’s amber eyes immediately lit up with stars. If Yisi weren’t between them, Clementine would surely have excitedly picked Mary up.
“Oh! Being praised by such a cute Mary-chan, I have a premonition that I’ll break through the Level 19 barrier soon. Thank you so much, Mary-chan!”
“Ehehe… I’d be glad if I could help, Mr. Clementine.”
“Mary, drink.”
Very bluntly, Tiffany lightly tapped Mary’s shoulder, and then pointed to her own open mouth. Perhaps because their mental ages were similar and their personalities were the complete opposite, the two had unknowingly become very close.
It must be emphasized, however, that in Yisi’s eyes, this relationship was more like that of a mother and daughter than simple friendship. Mary completely took on the role of caring for Tiffany, and Tiffany very much enjoyed being looked after.
To be honest, Yisi was so envious she was about to cry.
Although the big-sister type with a beautiful chest was Yisi’s ideal, a petite and cute motherly figure was also something she yearned for.
“Wait, Tiffany, the maid said the drink will take a while to be served.”
“Annoying.”
“Don’t trouble the maid.”
Using a fork with a piece of fruit on it as a substitute for a drink, Mary brought the fork to Tiffany’s open mouth. Then, Tiffany swallowed the fruit, fork and all.
Yisi felt as if a thunderclap had just gone off next to her.
“Th-that… Miss Yisi, Tiffany-chan… did Tiffany-chan just… eat the fork?”
“Well…”
You don’t need to emphasize it, I saw it too, of course.
Although she wanted to say that, Yisi could only feign ignorance with her wide blue eyes.
“Huh? Did she? I didn’t see anything. Mr. Clementine, you haven’t fully recovered, have you? If there’s something wrong with your mind, even I can’t help you. It’s probably best to rest more.”
Seeing the serious look on Yisi’s face, Clementine first glanced at the perfectly fine Tiffany, then looked back at Yisi’s face. His rigid expression softened slightly, and he rubbed his temples.
“…I see. I really have been so busy lately that my memory is fuzzy. I must get a good night’s sleep after today—uh!”
He was halfway through his sentence when Tiffany, unable to wait for Mary to feed her fruit bit by bit, simply swallowed the entire plate along with it. This made Clementine look as if he had seen a ghost, and he stood frozen on the spot.

“Hey, hey… even when playing a parent-child game, please be mindful of the occasion. Have you gotten so used to doing whatever you want in your room that you’ve forgotten about the people around you?”
Holding back the black line that appeared on her forehead, Yisi smiled and waved a hand in front of Clementine’s eyes.
“Mr. Clementine, Mr. Clementine? If you stare at an underage girl like that, you might be questioned by the patrol guards, you know?”
“Gulp.” Clementine swallowed, his originally rosy face turning a greenish-blue, and his steps became unsteady. “Miss Yisi… maybe my mental state really isn’t good. I’m having hallucinations. Can you help me call a priest? I… I want to confirm if I’ve been possessed by a demon.”
“No problem.” Yisi feigned concern with two light coughs. “Camilla, could you please take Tiffany upstairs? Also, have a servant go to the church and tell them that the hero who defended Antonio City is feeling unwell and needs a priest’s treatment.”
“Alright, Onee-sama. Should I also contact the cemetery manager? We should be able to get Mr. Clementine a good price.”
“No, there’s no need for that.”
“Yes.”
After bowing slightly to Yisi, Camilla carried Tiffany under her arm like a doll and left the hall.
Mary, meanwhile, walked up to Yisi, grasped the hem of Yisi’s dress, and looked up with her purple eyes to ask.
“Master, can I take these snacks up with me? Tiffany hasn’t eaten much yet.”
“Mhm, Clementine won’t mind. Mary can do whatever she wants.”
“Okay~”
After giving Yisi a brilliant smile, Mary ran up to the sweating Clementine, and, like a noble young lady greeting someone, she lifted the sides of her dress and slightly bent her knees in a curtsy to Clementine.
“Thank you, Mr. Clementine.”
“Ah… I’m glad you like it, Mary-chan.”
It seemed Tiffany had given Clementine quite a scare.
Yisi, as Tiffany’s guardian, felt awkward and took the initiative to change the subject.
“By the way, you should have saved up enough gold coins, Clementine, right? What are you planning to do next?”
Seemingly realizing that Yisi was getting down to business, Clementine shook his head, clearing the strange scene he had just witnessed from his mind.
“Well, although the gold coins are less than I expected, with so many guild members being forcibly conscripted, plus the rewards from hunting demons and the Lord’s praise for my achievements, I have enough for two years of travel. Although, now that things have come to this, I don’t really need to go out anymore.”

With a great sense of emotion, Clementine clasped his hands in front of his chest.
“The Swamp Python was slain by my own hands, and Blue Sea was self-destructed for stealing the Ice Crystal. Including leading the Flame Conquerors to become the number one guild in Antonio City, all three goals I set for myself have now been achieved. I originally planned to earn money for a journey of self-improvement, to deal with Blue Sea and the Swamp Python after raising my level. Now that everything has been resolved overnight, to be honest, I feel a sense of not knowing what to do next.”
“I can understand that…”
After a huge and complex goal is achieved, the feelings that follow the sense of accomplishment are emptiness and confusion, not knowing what to do next. Yisi, as a player, had experienced this many times.
Clementine raised his glass to Yisi, drank the wine in one gulp, and muttered to himself.
“Hah—a few days ago, I finally mustered the courage to pay my respects to the Guild Master. I had a peaceful sleep that I hadn’t had in years. In my dream, the Guild Master told me to live for myself and not to treat the guild as my everything, so I’ve decided to leave the guild after some time. Miss Yisi should have also heard the news that the Hermion Snow Mountain was leveled. The ability to make a volcano disappear out of thin air and also create an extremely cold place is something even a demon can’t do. I want to try and understand the reason for it.”
Although his goal was wrong, his idea was commendable.
Yisi nodded.
“The person who could do something like that must be hard to find, right? How are you planning to investigate, Clementine?”
“I’ll start by getting stronger. I heard that the Blood Clan is in a civil war, so I want to go there to gain some experience. There are more powerful people there than in the human world. Although they might reject me as a human, my Level 19 strength should still give me some standing.”
“The Blood Clan, huh… That’s a bold idea.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Yisi thought of a question, and her expression gradually became strange.
“…You, you’re actually after the Blood Clan’s young ladies, aren’t you? Especially since their coming-of-age is at 20, and their bodies develop very slowly.”
“Uh.” Clementine froze on the spot, then frantically waved his hands. “No, no, no, no, Miss Yisi, that’s absolutely a slander. Is that really the kind of person you think I am?”
“I’m just kidding.”
Yisi waved her hand with a smile. Clementine stopped as well, propping his elbows on the table with a sigh.
“Well, from now on, I’ll work towards finding the mysterious person who destroyed the volcano. Speaking of which, what happened that night was truly outrageous. First, the forbidden fire rain used by the first Blood Clan Queen descended from the sky, and then the Empire’s secret troops all surrendered themselves. I heard that the Empire’s secret troops, in particular, shocked the royal family. But for me, what’s truly important is that Lake Antonio was restored. Although I don’t know the identity of that mysterious person, they must be a very good person.”
Being praised to her face, Yisi couldn’t help but feel a little proud, knowing that her hard work that night hadn’t been in vain.
After dealing with the volcano that night, she suddenly remembered that she hadn’t tasted the flavor of Antonio fish yet. So, she piled the snow she had stored in her inventory onto the riverbed of Lake Antonio, then used fire magic to melt it into snowmelt, revitalizing Lake Antonio.
“I really wish I could meet that mysterious person just once.”
“Clementine, you don’t have to be so persistent. Maybe you’ve already met.” 1 Somehow I like those kinds of lines.

Feeling a little embarrassed, Yisi took a sip of wine, using the glass to hide her face.
“Really? I guess that’s a possibility.” Clementine smacked his lips. “Miss Yisi, did you hear? The Lord is taking the blame and stepping down, giving his position to his eldest son. The eldest son—that is, the new Lord who is about to take office—plans to write what happened that night into an epic: the story of the mysterious person saving Antonio City, casting down a rain of fire to punish the demons, and then solving the avalanche and volcano crisis. The bards have already started singing about it recently.”
As he spoke, Clementine even hummed a part of it. Unfortunately, he was so off-key that he changed the subject after only a few lines, his face turning red.
“Those people at the church insist that it was the gods’ mercy for humanity. I think if gods really existed, wouldn’t the Blood Clan have been dealt with by them a long time ago?”
“Is that so… that happened, huh?”
Not knowing how to respond, Yisi could only echo his words casually.
“What about you, Miss Yisi? What are you planning to do next? I suppose it’s impossible to investigate the Flame Giant now, right?”
“I’m also planning to leave Antonio City, but not to go to the Blood Clan in the east. I’m heading south to the Ymir Church instead.” Yisi spread her hands. “I made some promises to someone, and I also want to learn about information on the soul.”
“Indeed, when it comes to researching the soul, the church is better at it than anyone else. Although I don’t know how Miss Yisi plans to approach the church, since it’s you, there shouldn’t be any problems. Oh, by the way, what did you do that night, Miss Yisi? The people in the mansion spent the whole night looking for you and couldn’t find a trace.”
“Huh? Me?”
I actually went to exterminate a Fallen Angel.
Yisi couldn’t help but smile bitterly to herself. Immediately after, as if a jolt of electricity had shot through her spine, Yisi suddenly felt her body tremble, and a piece of information flooded her mind.
[Third Form Awakening]
“Oh my—oh my, oh my. I’ve waited for so long. Now it’s my turn—you faker.”
A voice mixed with anticipation and a hint of anger rang out in her mind. As if the power had been cut, Yisi’s consciousness slowly fell into darkness.
