Volume 1, Chapter 23 – Enemy of the World
“Bloodletting therapy, huh…”
Although she knew this otherworld was backward, this was just too primitive—practically no different from the Dark Ages.
Of course, Yisi wasn’t asking out of concern for public welfare. The reason she inquired about hospitals was to see if people in this world had any concept of blood transfusion. If they did, she might have been able to simply buy blood with money. But now, it seems like a complete waste of thought.
“Will you be visiting the temple? They have crosses and holy water there, which might affect you…”
“No, let’s go buy clothes first. We can take our time figuring out the blood situation.”
Yisi opened the Omniscient Map. Just like in Anno Town, there were vampires hiding in Niru City. Excluding the ones in the noble district (likely kept as pets by aristocrats), if she could find a wild vampire, she might be able to ask about blood sources.

However, the Omniscient Map also displayed some alarming markers.
Wait… this city actually has demons too?
In terms of racial settings, this world was largely the same as the game Ragnarøk, and what concerned Yisi the most was the existence of demons. In the game, hunting demons was the players’ main questline. When the Three Great Demon Kings who commanded the demons gathered together, no magic could defeat them. And while studying this world’s history, Yisi discovered that the Three Great Demon Kings and demons existed here as well.
The Three Great Demon Kings were: Ouranos, who represented the sky; Tartarus, who represented the earth; and Styx, who represented the ocean. As the final bosses of the game, each possessed power surpassing even max-level players.
During the mid-stage of the game’s operation, the developers had released a multiplayer story dungeon where players could enter and battle an illusion controlled by Ouranos. The result? Even with nearly half the server’s top players participating, they still couldn’t defeat the illusion—and according to the official explanation, the illusion only had 30% of Ouranos’ true power.
This alone showed just how overwhelmingly strong Ouranos’ true form was.

Similarly, the Church’s records of the Demon Kings were often accompanied by descriptions of major disasters—such as the Demon Kings devouring the earth, summoning divine punishment, or annihilating entire armies in an instant. Thanks to the book’s illustrations and gripping narratives, Yisi could easily grasp how terrifying the Demon Kings were. Of course, this might have been the Church deliberately demonizing them to make them seem more formidable. But without knowing the truth, it was better to act with caution.
Come to think of it, Ouranos’ corpse is still in my inventory. How exactly did Ouranos die?
The Count’s eldest daughter didn’t know the answer. By the time the Vampires and the human alliance discovered Ouranos, he was already a corpse. What followed was a minor skirmish between the Count’s daughter and the Ymir Church over the Demon King’s remains. Afterward, the Count’s daughter, having stored the body, lost her combat ability and was captured by the Church.
It was worth noting that since the Count’s daughter had publicly claimed to have absorbed Ouranos’ power, the Church assumed his corpse had turned to dust and never demanded she hand it over.
“Camilla, demons are universally recognized as enemies of the continent, right?”

“Yes. The demons appeared suddenly on the continent a thousand years ago. Under the command of the Demon Kings, they declared war on all races, making them the common enemy of the entire continent.”
“So there’s absolutely no way they’d appear in a human city?”
“Correct. If demons are discovered entering a city, humans would immediately mobilize the military to exterminate them. Demons rarely leave their territory, and whenever they do, disasters inevitably follow. Each demon is incredibly troublesome—for example, it would take three vampire soldiers to take down a single demon.”
“I see…”
Brushing the white hair that had fallen over her forehead back—perhaps she should cut or tie up this overly long hair—Yisi marked the demons on the Omniscient Map with skull icons. Over twenty demons were scattered throughout Niru City, lurking in various corners. If this wasn’t a case of humans colluding with demons, then the only explanation was that the demons had secretly infiltrated the city.
Well, with this many demons in the city, the Church will notice sooner or later. Or maybe they already have? Better not get involved.

Shrugging inwardly, Yisi closed the Omniscient Map. For some reason, the street ahead was unusually noisy.
“Priest, please! Save my daughter! She’s a devout believer of the Church!”
Taking a few steps closer to Yisi, Camilla whispered a reminder.
“Onee-sama, it seems something’s happening up ahead.”
Yisi casually waved her hand.
“Yeah, let’s go around it.”
