Volume 1, Chapter 3 – Fleeing the Crime Scene
It wasn’t until an hour after the most intense heatwave had passed that Yisi finally snapped out of her unparalleled shock. Everything around her had turned to scorched earth, and the hill she had been standing on had become a deep, sunken basin. Flames flowed freely along the crystalline layers formed by the extreme heat, and the searing air nearly suffocated her, burning her lungs. It was only when she remembered to use the “Flight” magic that she managed to escape the perilous situation.
However, once Yisi soared into the sky, she was confronted with an even more unsettling reality. In her imagination, the “Explosion” magic should have only burned down a single mountain peak. But now, it seemed the entire forest had been consumed by the flames. As far as she could see, there was nothing but red fire and blackened wasteland. If not for the map showing that she was indeed moving, Yisi might have even wondered if she had fallen into some kind of looping space.
“Just how much did I burn down…?”
Yisi couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. Back in the game, she had always been too embarrassed to use the “Explosion” magic. That single strike had drained nearly half of her mana. Had she known it would destroy so much, she would have chosen a different spell.
“Wait, no—that’s not the right way to think about it. If I hadn’t killed the Manticore, I wouldn’t even be standing here right now. Besides, there are no villages or cities around—this is just an uninhabited wilderness with no human life.”
Of course, despite her attempts to console herself, Yisi still felt uneasy. After all, if something like setting a mountain on fire happened on Earth, she’d undoubtedly face legal consequences—possibly even the death penalty if the damage was severe enough. With a single spell, she had obliterated the forests within a ten-kilometer radius—maybe even more, though the map only displayed ten kilometers. If she didn’t spend at least a decade in prison for this, she wouldn’t even believe it herself.

“Sigh… I just hope the human world here doesn’t have laws against this—no, as long as I don’t say anything, no one will know it was me.”
As she flew through the air, Yisi optimistically patted her flat chest. The sensation of flight wasn’t much different from the game, so she didn’t feel any fear. However, the air rushing against her was unbearably hot. If not for the risk of being seen as a pervert, she would have seriously considered stripping naked.
After nearly ten minutes of swift flight, Yisi finally reached an area untouched by the flames. It was a flat stretch of land nestled between two mountain peaks. Judging by the numerous wagon tracks left in the dry soil, this place was frequently traveled. A glance at her “Omniscient Map” confirmed that this was indeed the road connecting the city of Niru to the town of Anno, which was about three kilometers ahead.
“If I keep going straight, I should reach Anno Town, right? But can vampires even enter human settlements?”
Yisi touched the crimson wings on her back—the symbol of her vampiric nature—and searched through the memories of the Count’s eldest daughter. Unfortunately, most of those memories were filled with violent scenes of slaughter, with very little useful information about humans.
“Well, whatever. I’ll just scout the area first. The Omniscient Map can detect races—if there are vampires living in the town, then it must be a place that allows them in.”
Though her inherited memories contained little about humans, they did mention that vampires and humans hadn’t been at war for nearly a century. In such a peaceful era, there should be some level of mutual tolerance.

Praying that the flames on the other side of the mountain would die out soon, Yisi hummed an off-key tune to pass the time as she followed the road toward Anno Town. The “Omniscient Map” wasn’t much different from a GPS, and in fact, it was even more convenient—every living being and special item was marked with glowing dots. If she wanted to search for a specific target, she just had to input a keyword.
Interestingly, Yisi noticed that the mountainsides were inhabited by people labeled as “bandits” or “slave traders.” Not wanting to cause unnecessary trouble, she used the “Concealment” skill as she passed through their ambush points, erasing her presence entirely and slipping past them unnoticed.
“Honestly, using a skill like this for theft would make me filthy rich… Surely this world has countermeasures against ‘Concealment’ magic, right? I think even the Omniscient Map can detect it.”
Despite her words, Yisi didn’t sound entirely confident. According to the map, Anno Town was a small settlement spanning less than five kilometers, with around three thousand humans. The highest-level individual among them was only Level 10, while most residents ranged between Levels 1 and 3.
Fortunately, not all the inhabitants were human. About ten percent belonged to other races—elves, orcs, beastmen, and other intelligent species that were playable in Ragnarøk. Seeing them gave Yisi an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
“But I don’t see any vampires…”

Just in case, Yisi entered the keywords “vampire” and “bloodkin” into the Omniscient Map. In this world, “vampire” and “bloodkin” were synonymous, though only vampires themselves used the latter term—other races still referred to them as vampires.
Instantly, the number of glowing dots on the pale-blue screen dwindled. The once densely populated map now displayed only four blue markers. Excluding the one representing herself, there were only three vampires living in Anno Town.
“Whew… So it’s not that there are none, just very few. That means vampires can enter human towns, right? Ah, the blessings of a peaceful world.”
Singing praises for this peaceful world, Yisi unconsciously quickened her pace. Her bright blue dress had miraculously survived the firestorm unscathed, and her hip-length white hair was only slightly disheveled. To an outside observer, she probably looked like nothing more than a cold, aristocratic young lady—assuming one ignored her vampiric wings.
Though turning into a woman was undeniably tragic, at least she was alive. That was something to be grateful for, so Yisi decided not to dwell on her gender for now.
—Like hell I won’t dwell on it!
Grumbling under her breath, Yisi kicked a pebble on the roadside. What she had dreamed of was an isekai life surrounded by gentle, understanding older women—not being swarmed by a bunch of men. The current situation was the complete opposite of her ideal, and anyone would be frustrated in her place.

“I wonder if this body will affect my sexual preferences… Hmm… I should probably confirm that.”
Brushing her bangs out of her eyes, Yisi spoke slowly and deliberately.
“I like kind, considerate, understanding older women.”
After briefly fantasizing about her ideal type, she didn’t feel anything amiss. Reassured, Yisi nodded to herself—her preferences were still the same as before.
Once things settle down, I’ll test it out properly at a brothel in the red-light district.
With that resolution firmly set in her mind, Yisi continued on her way.
