Volume 7, Chapter 13 – Yisi, Plotting to Play a Prank by Disguising Herself as Pepe

But that was a thing of the past.

Currently, Yisi was in a warehouse in the lower levels of the temple. A report submitted by Fran a while ago indicated that many people within the kingdom were trying to spy on the production method for distilled liquor. Although the royal soldiers were guarding Margaret, they were only protecting the headquarters in Celtic City; the various branches scattered throughout the kingdom were not under their protection.

To prevent anything bad from happening to Shinku and Fran, Yisi had been contemplating what measures to take. Her first thoughts were to hire guards or to provide the Fallen girls with adequate weapons for self-defense.

Thus, Yisi had to face two problems.

First, how could she ensure that the hired help wouldn’t turn on them for a greater profit? Second, where would the self-defense weapons come from?

Setting aside the first point for now, although she had many magic items from [Ragnarøk] and could also use her forge to create magic weapons on the spot, the items from [Ragnarøk] had level restrictions. If an ordinary person used them, it would only result in a spectacular explosion—just like the Christmas bell Camilla had used at the Niru Diocese. As for the custom-made magic weapons, creating powerful ones required high-grade materials. And once high-grade materials were used, it would again lead to them being unusable by ordinary people. For a moment, Yisi was trapped in an inescapable deadlock.

That was until Yisi remembered the stone golems lying in her inventory.

Golems would never betray their master, and the ones she had taken from Julius possessed a respectable level of strength. If she could make use of those golems, simply placing them at the entrance of the tavern would be enough to deter most people from targeting Fran and the others.

The only drawback was the small quantity. Including the one she had taken from the library on the fourth underground floor, she only had eight stone golems. At a standard of two per tavern, it was barely enough. If a new branch opened, they would once again face the predicament of insufficient strength. Therefore, she had to learn to create stone golems herself.

Of course, Yisi didn’t plan to continue like this forever. Her own abilities were limited. Even with the power of a Demon Lord, as Margaret continued to grow, there would come a day when her time would be stretched thin. Thus, Yisi was thinking of having Fran cultivate a group of guards exclusive to Margaret. Once these guards were trained, she would no longer need to worry.

“Well, I do enjoy making new things.”

Unlike creating works of art like sculptures, stone golems could be either rigid beings that only followed their master’s orders, or intelligent entities with self-awareness. It was the latter that interested Yisi. If she could create a golem with self-awareness, it would be like creating a life of her own, bringing an indescribable sense of excitement, pride, and accomplishment.

“I’m starting to get a little excited.”

A sense of anticipation filled her chest, making Yisi stretch lazily. But due to the strong feeling of fullness in her stomach, she quickly clutched it and bent over, letting out a long sigh.

“Huuu, maybe I should have Camilla prepare the meals next time. Mary’s cooking is too delicious. At this rate, I feel like I’ll gain weight.”

Hmm… is gaining weight a bad thing?

With a snap of her fingers, a mirror made entirely of ice appeared before Yisi. She pinched her cheek while looking at it.

“I’ve been eating a lot lately, but there are no signs of weight gain. No, in the first place, I shouldn’t even be concerned about gaining weight.”

She wasn’t the type to worry about her weight. Thinking this, Yisi inadvertently glanced at the blue and white long dress she was wearing and the blue-streaked silver twin-tails behind her head. The beautiful face in the mirror, as if meticulously carved by a god, revealed a wry smile.

“Have I gotten used to it without realizing… Though it feels a bit late to be saying this, this body is really… what would it look like if I did this?”

Glancing around the empty warehouse, Yisi gave in to her childish curiosity—a feeling no different from making a funny face in the mirror. She lifted the corners of her skirt, took a small step back with her left foot, and bent her knees slightly, curtsying like a princess.

“Good day, Lady Yisi.”

Then she froze for a moment.

Oh no.

From her own perspective, the movement was absolutely flawless.

“No, no, no… this is definitely narcissism. Narcissism.”

But what if she put on cat ears, wore Pepe’s clothes, and put on a little makeup, imagining the person in the mirror was Pepe? What would that look like?

Yisi suddenly found herself eager to try. Pepe would definitely be unwilling to wear cat ears with their beast-like features, so if she wanted to see it, she could only satisfy herself.

“If I dress up like that and then say something outrageous in front of Refina, she’ll surely make quite the expression. Hmm, since I’m going that far, I might as well go and tease Andrea and Mary too.”

Briefly imagining Andrea and Mary’s panicked reactions to Pepe’s possessiveness, Yisi couldn’t help but let out a giggle. Andrea aside, Mary, who was as bad at refusing people as she was, would surely be so flustered that her eyes would turn into swirls.

Inadvertently, Yisi caught a glimpse of her own foolish grin in the mirror.

How disgusting.

“Ahem, Yisi, Yisi, how can you think of such silly things? The task at hand is to make stone golems. Wouldn’t it be better to use them to sculpt a gentle, kind, innocent, and lovely Pepe?”

Also, a queenly Andrea is very tempting.

Of course, Yisi was just thinking about it. Not to mention how difficult it would be to put into practice, doing so felt disrespectful to Pepe and Andrea. What she liked was their souls, not their appearances. The thoughts she just had were merely due to a momentary whim for mischief.

Banishing the pink-tinted thoughts from her mind, Yisi slapped her cheeks hard.

“Alright, alright, time to start making a golem from scratch.”

First, she walked to an empty space in the middle of the room. From her inventory, Yisi took out a plain-looking book titled A Beginner’s Guide to Making Ordinary Stone Golems.

“I really want to complain about how long the title is, but it’s probably meant to tell the buyer in one sentence what its purpose is and what it can do.”

If you put three books together, one titled The Making of Stone Golems, another Stone Golems are Too Overpowered!, and this one, a beginner would surely choose to buy the one in her hands. Other than the title on the cover, books in this world had neither a dust jacket nor a summary. To prevent people from learning without buying, consumers could only read the first page before purchase. The title, being the only thing to attract readers, was self-evidently important.

Having learned her lesson from forging the magic iron sword, Yisi had specifically gone to the market beforehand to buy the necessary materials. She wouldn’t run into the dilemma of creating something that no one but herself could activate because the materials from [Ragnarøk] were too powerful.

“A large enough workbench, stone of suitable hardness, a carving knife, a chisel, a mallet… okay, nothing is missing.”

Now, let’s try to make a stone golem!
