Volume 7, Chapter 19 – The Shattered Ice Coffin
“[Fireball]!”
Countless echoes reverberated through the room, followed by a barrage of fireballs smashing into the Frost Spider’s side. The impact from the flames caused the spider’s body to lift slightly. Seizing this opportunity, the dwarf, who still had some strength left, dragged Dominic with all his might, pulling him out of the sweeping range of the Frost Spider’s mandibles.
The [Fireball] spells came from the low-level adventurers who were supposed to have evacuated. They couldn’t bear to let the reward, which was right before their eyes, slip away, and had chosen not to retreat.
“Dominic, are you okay?”
“Yeah, my hand is just a little numb,” Dominic shook his hand, a new layer of seriousness in his eyes as he looked at the Frost Spider. “It seems if we don’t kill this thing, we’re all going to die here today. I’m going to use ‘that’. Axis, buy me some time.”
The dwarf frowned, his gaze full of worry.
“You’re going to use that? You’ll have to go back if you do.”
“Our lives are more important.”
“…Alright, I’ll buy you some—Gah!”
Before the dwarf could finish his sentence, the Frost Spider swept its foreleg, sending him flying. On the other side, where the low-level adventurers were, chaos erupted. From Yisi’s perspective, many palm-sized frost spiders had appeared. The low-level adventurers’ skin showed signs of frostbite wherever they were touched.
This is getting bad.
Letting out a soft sigh, Yisi took out the recently acquired [Laevateinn, the Branch of Ruin] from her inventory, the one she had been planning to give to Camilla.
Although Laevateinn was a name she had borrowed from mythology, the power of this sword was worthy of its title. It was at least a Crimson Gold-grade weapon. She had known from the first moment she saw it that this sword had the potential to be used directly as a magic staff.
“I should try it out myself before giving it to Camilla. It would be bad if it turned out to be a cursed weapon.”
Cursed weapons were those that would harm their user. Although they often possessed power that surpassed weapons of the same grade, Yisi would never give a cursed weapon to her companions.

“Axis!”
Dominic shouted at the dwarf who had been sent flying. At the same time, Yisi’s voice appeared between Axis and the Frost Spider.
“Instead of worrying about Axis, you should pay more attention to yourself.”
Clang.
Lifting Laevateinn, Yisi blocked a downward strike from the Frost Spider. The solid feedback from the impact on its leg made the spider freeze for a moment. In its eyes, a small human like Yisi should have been instantly crushed into a pulp, but now she was able to block its strike head-on, without even a hint of trembling.
“You… who are you?”
Yisi’s sudden appearance ignited hope on Dominic’s face.
“I do not need ants to remember me.”
“A pureblood… Only the powerful speak like that.”
Glancing at the wings on Yisi’s waist, Dominic muttered to himself with a look of understanding.
I don’t know what misunderstanding you’ve come to, but I’m only saying such disrespectful things because my current identity requires it.
Apologizing internally, Yisi continued to emphasize in a cold and calm tone.
“Leave this place. This is not an enemy you can defeat.”
“What about you?”
“Does an ant dare to question me?”

“Uh, that’s not what I meant. Watch out, it’s coming!”
“Noisy.”
Frowning, Yisi swung Laevateinn at the Frost Spider. Although she didn’t use any magic, a red blade of fire flew from the sword. The moment it made contact, a white mist of evaporating liquid violently erupted from the Frost Spider’s body.
“Screeeech!!”
As if being seared by a branding iron, the Frost Spider let out a pained shriek. As it backed away, its eight legs twitched uncontrollably. The impact of its body rolling on the ground caused the entire room to rumble, and an almost suffocating pressure washed over them.
Yisi glanced at the [Omniscient Map].
The Frost Spider’s HP had dropped to a point very close to 10%.
Although its power wasn’t as high as the iron sword she had forged, its advantage was that it didn’t consume much magic power. Besides, Yisi was certain that if she infused Laevateinn with the same amount of magic power as she did with her iron sword, its power could likely match it.
As she thought this, Yisi began to pour magic power into Laevateinn. There were two ways to deal with the Frost Spider’s enraged state, and [Ragnarøk] players usually used the method she was about to employ—if you one-shot it, it can’t go berserk.
“Finish it now!”
“St—”
Before Yisi could finish, Dominic, his longsword glowing blue, fearlessly ran to the Frost Spider and brought his sword down heavily upon it.
Kaka-kaka-kaka.
A strange, crisp sound.
A spiderweb of cracks appeared on the Frost Spider’s body, and a white mist carrying a bone-chilling cold rose from the ground.

His all-out attack at the beginning could only reduce its HP by a dozen points, but that last strike nearly killed it?
It must be the power of the Tower of Taris.
As a direct relative of the Marquis of Taris, Dominic could be granted a small portion of the tower’s power. This was something Yisi had read about in the church’s library.
But that wasn’t the most pressing issue. The problem was that Dominic had failed to kill the Frost Spider in one hit, thus triggering its second berserk stage.
“S-so cold…”
“Why is there so much white mist all of a sudden?”
“Look, the Frost Spider isn’t moving.”
“Did Lord Dominic kill it?”
“Wait, no, what’s that? Something on the ground is coming towards us.”
“M-my leg! My leg is frozen!”
“Eek! Run! It’s magic!”
As the white mist filled the entire room, a white halo spread out from the Frost Spider, covering the entire twelfth floor. Other than the bonfires, everything that came into contact with the white halo was frozen into a block of ice. Some of the slower adventurers had their legs frozen solid to the ground, and the frost was visibly creeping up towards their heads.
“Aaaah!! Help me! I don’t want to die!”
“Lord Dominic!”
“Tsk.” Clicking her tongue, Yisi shouted at the adventurers, “Your cloaks are soaked in kerosene! If you don’t want to die, light them and throw them in front of you!”

“Yes!”
Although their legs couldn’t move, the adventurers were near the entrance, surrounded by bonfires. They fumbled to untie their cloaks. Some, in their panic, simply ripped their cloaks off and lit them, then threw the resulting fireballs in front of them. Then, a scene that almost made them cry with relief appeared—as the flames burned, the wave-like white halo could only go around the fire, spreading in other directions. The frost on the adventurers’ bodies also stopped spreading.
This was the second way to deal with the Frost Spider’s enraged state. The premise of the freeze effect was a successful freeze. If it came into contact with fire, it naturally couldn’t freeze. As an early-game boss, the Frost Spider itself was not a very powerful character.
Letting out a soft sigh, Yisi ignored the complex expression on Dominic’s face and turned her gaze to the Frost Spider, which was cowering beneath the treasure, fearing for its life.
“It’s time for you to go to hell.”
[Blink]
[One-Hit Kill]
Plunging the fully charged Laevateinn into the Frost Spider’s head, its HP instantly dropped to zero.
Crack, crackle.
A strange sound.
It wasn’t coming from the Frost Spider, but from above.
“Hmm?”
Subconsciously, Yisi looked up. What entered her vision was a shattered ice coffin, and a slowly descending, angel-like maiden.
“—Thank you for rescuing me from my seal, My Lord.”
