Chapter 60.1
Chapter 60.1
‘…Has she gone crazy? Maybe she lost it because she got cornered? That she laughed at this situation?’
Mrs. Grace said, squinting her eyes.
“As expected, you are simply out of your mind. Do you have any idea what you have done?”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
Nadia had to cover her mouth with her hands to suppress laughter.
A giggle of laughter continued to burst through her lips. Barely holding it back, Nadia opened her mouth again.
“So what you said is that I sent a letter to my father to harm the previous Marquis and so that I could return to the capital… Is that what you mean?”
“The evidence is clear, so you’d better tell the truth.”
“Hmm…”
Nadia tilted her head slightly and snorted.
“But it’s a strange thing. I write letters to my father in front of Glenn. Glenn, you tell me. Have you ever seen me write a code in fruit juice on a piece of paper?”
“……!”
‘What did she say?’
Grace’s eyes are wide open.
It couldn’t be. That’s impossible!
She saw clearly.
Nadia was writing a letter alone on the day she went to encourage her to greet the previous Marquis.
“It’s a lie– you’re lying! You’re only causing more trouble by avoiding it now!”
“You can ask His Grace about that. What do you think, Glenn?”
Mrs. Grace turned her head quickly. It was the spot where Glenn stood.
“…!”
Only then did she realize. The direction in which her nephew’s murderous eyes have been directed was not Nadia, but herself.
“She, Glenn….”
“She is right. She told me about the letter and wrote a reply.”
It was a completely unexpected situation. Of course, Aidyn didn’t say a word to Mrs. Grace about that.
Mrs. Grace’s eyes turned to Aidyn, who was standing next to Nadia.
Aidyn had a gloomy expression on her face and was looking down, so she couldn’t tell what kind of expression she was making.
‘That stupid girl! If Glenn was there with her, you should have told me!’
‘How could she tell me about the letter without telling me the most important thing?’
Mrs. Grace couldn’t manage her expression at all when she thought her plan had gone wrong because of the stupid maid’s stupidity.
Her pupils trembled, and so did her lips and cheeks.
But the surrounding situation was not easy enough for her to fall into other thoughts for too long.
Glenn opened his mouth in a cold, subdued voice.
“Aunt… Why did you do that?”
“It’s… This is a misunderstanding. It’s someone’s conspiracy! I– I don’t know what’s going on. First of all…”
“Are you claiming to be falsely accused for manipulating Nadia’s letter, that she made father in critical condition, and even causing such a disturbance at night?”
Mrs. Grace was so embarrassed that this incident didn’t work properly.
She had to make an excuse, but she couldn’t think of anything as if her head was empty.
She just stuttered like a broken doll. Meanwhile, her nephew’s anger was on fire.
Glenn’s cold voice continued.
“If you had framed my wife for hurting my father, the truth would have been buried forever. Was that what you wished, too? Because you were behind the carriage accident?”
“No! No! It’s really not! Isaac is my brother! There’s no way I’d hurt my only family, right?”
“If you truly considered my father a family, you would have wanted to find the real criminal instead of falsely accusing the innocent. What a plausible tactic to hurt my father and try to remove my competitor at the same time.”
“This– this is a trap to frame me. I really didn’t…! A closer investigation will surely reveal my innocence.”
“Yes, as you said, I intend to investigate this case in detail.”
He spoke to the guards.
“Take her and lock her up.”
There was no question of who he was referring to. The guards approached Mrs. Grace as if they were waiting for order.
Fear and anger flashed across her face at the same time.
“You insolent people! Who do you dare touch! Glenn! Glenn! I am really innocent…!”
It happened so fast. Where did she do wrong? When did she make the mistake?
As soon as despair and helplessness were about to completely fill her head, something like a flash passed through Mrs. Grace’s head.
It reminded her of the fact that it was Aidyn, a close maid of Nadia, who delivered Nadia’s letter to her.
A ray of hope seemed to come down in a desperate situation. Mrs. Grace cried out, holding out not to be taken away.
“Glenn, that black-haired maid! She’s the one who brought me the fabricated letter! If you question that maid, you’ll find out who’s behind the attempt to frame me!”
