Chapter 64.1
Chapter 64.1
“So the daughter of the Duke of Balazit… You are saying that she bought and resold the cure before the Black Death spreaded, planned to occupy Vallon Fortress, stabilized the occupied territory, located Dragon lair, introduced new inventions to cavalry, improved farming tools, and discovered Grace’s scheme?”
At the end of his conclusion, Isaac was out of breath as he listed what Nadia had done one by one. Glenn replied to his father, who gasped a little.
“You concluded it neatly.”
“Oh, God…”
Isaac couldn’t believe it even after he heard it himself.
Throughout Glenn’s explanation, he had to ask again and again if his son told him the truth.
It was also surprising that one noble woman had such a talent, but what was more surprising was that she was the daughter of the family’s political opponent.
“So… The reason she did all that was because she… because she loves you?”
“…Yes.”
Glenn looked away embarrassed. The butler stepped in quickly.
“Young master… No, she fell in love with my lord at first sight. Indeed, my lord is handsome.”
“I got it from my mother.”
Although Glenn was his son, he couldn’t help but admit that his son had a flawless appearance.
When his father nodded as if he agreed with Gordon, Glenn was embarrassed and had to cough to change the subject.
“Anyway, what I want to say is that Nadia is never something like a spy of Balazit. She is an absolute ally of Winterfell, so there is no need to be wary.”
“So you’re telling me in advance because you’re afraid I’ll scold her?”
“It’s not like that…”
Glenn, who tried to refute, blurted out the end of his speech.
Wasn’t the purpose of this long explanation to protect Nadia from being hurt? Therefore, the way his father put it was not wrong.
“Sigh… Damn it, yes. You’re right.”
“You sure have the guts to curse in front of your father, you little brat.”
The previous Marquis, Isaac chuckled and burst into laughter.
He was told that Nadia fell for his son first, but now that he saw it, it didn’t seem to be a one sided crush.
Knock, knock.
There was a knock in the quiet room. The three pairs of eyes turned to the door.
“Go check who it is, Gordon.”
“Yes.”
Gordon walked towards the door, and he could see the visitor through the gap in the open door.
Speaking of the devil, it was Nadia who came.
“Come on in.”
Nadia walked in carefully and stood in front of Glenn and Isaac. She bowed slightly.
“Are you feeling better now?”
“It’s much better than before. It’s all because you revealed Grace’s evil deeds. So, what brings you here?”
“I want to show you this.”
“……?”
The thing that Nadie held out was none other than a ledger. A ledger where she kept a well-recorded account of the flow of funds.
Isaac glanced over the ledger and turned to her again. He had a look of wonder why Nadia gave it to him.
Nadia quickly replied.
“I brought it because I thought you might wonder how things have changed on the Winterfell estate. You can take a look and ask me anytime if you have any questions.”
“Oh, that’s great. It happened to be exactly what I am curious about.”
Isaac heard it from his son that the family was in good financial condition, but he couldn’t believe it.
Because the Winterfell family, whom he knew, was a million light-years away from wealth.
This had been the case ever since he was the lord, and so was when his father did.
There was no way that there was any money left over after the expedition and the famine on this barren land was….
“Hmm?”
The previous Marquis’ eyes, who were looking at the ledger, were wide open.
‘No… This can’t be happening.’
This family’s ledger contained figures that shouldn’t ever exist. He had to rub his eyes and go over the numbers again.
The number remained the same no matter how many times he looked at it again. There was not even a minus. It meant the numbers were not a debt.
‘I-Is this really our family’s property?’
His body began to tremble in the face of unbelievable reality. Eyes opened with astonishment.
Glenn, who was watching his father’s reaction, said.
“If you can’t believe it, you can go to the warehouse now. There will be a pile of gold and silver treasures.”
“Huuh…?”
He was so surprised that he almost laughed. He said.
“It’s… This is all really…”
“Father, I can’t hear you well.”
Then the murmuring voice grew louder. The previous marquis shout loudly.
“It’s art! This is art!”
“…….”
