Chapter 105

Chapter 105 The Secret of Advanced Meditation

Francis glanced over the rejection documents for Locke’s application for a medium-sized botanical garden, as well as the loan contract for advanced meditation magic stones, and frowned in dissatisfaction. “I’ve already mentioned in the senior management meeting that we need to fully consider the students’ emotional connection to the academy. Such a straightforward loan contract will only alienate students.”

“It should be done more covertly.” Francis pondered. “If the college agrees to give Locke a medium-sized botanical garden now, he should be grateful to the college. However…”

“Forget it.” Francis considered it.

The last spot for establishing a medium-sized botanical garden within three years was also targeted by the only official wizard in the academy’s summoning school, who specialized in animal taming magic. He wanted to secure this spot for his son.

Francis said, “Locke’s talent isn’t top-tier. Among his peers, there’s always an Elemental Son who performs better. Furthermore, an Elemental Son’s talent is stable and clear, but Locke’s talent doesn’t guarantee the same rate of improvement in the future as it does now. I’ve seen many geniuses fall.”

“He’s not even close to being the son of a proper wizard.”

“I finally managed to recruit a formal beast taming wizard for the academy. I had Lilith’s cottage offer a series of classes in the beast taming magic category and also built a public building – the Blood Roar Colosseum.”

“I can’t let a mere student affect my overall plan for teaching beast taming magic.” Francis looked up at a map hanging on his wall. It was a map of the southeast corner.

The entire southeast corner is a long coastline, like the edge of a pond, and does not extend inland.

The Atlas Dragon Mountains, like a natural barrier, separate the southeastern corner from the inland on the map.

But despite this, the southeastern corner region is large enough, and its area is unknown how many times larger than the Eurasian continent.

Francis looked at the map of the wizarding organizations surrounding Lilith’s hut, his eyes dark and his face gloomy. “These surrounding wizarding organizations are always competing with our academy for students. It’s annoying to watch them.”

“Recently, they’ve been following the Blood Curse Court, stirring up trouble nearby and snatching away several outstanding new talents.”

“Hmph. As long as my plan to teach animal taming magic succeeds, I can at least steal most of the students from that ridiculous little white wizard organization, the Beast Bone Society, and force them to gradually move away from this area.”

Francis stared at the location of the Animal Bone Society on the map with disgust.

…

Locke let out a breath of foul air after leaving Francis’ office.

In the hired carriage, he sighed slightly and said in a voice only he could hear, “Being with that Sir Francis, for some reason, I feel extremely stressed. My intuition tells me that he’s very dangerous, but he treats me very well.”

“And… the Ominous Mandrake Vine didn’t react at all.”

“Of course, it’s hard to say whether the Ominous Mandrake Vine will have any effect on a legitimate wizard. A legitimate wizard has a permanent defensive force field surrounding their body, which is equivalent to possessing extremely high magic resistance. Ordinary spells have little effect on them.”

Locke shook his head. “Forget it. Besides the chance to see him when I receive the advanced meditation method, I basically have no chance to meet him again.”

“My teacher is Witch Sophia, so it doesn’t matter.”

Locke quickly returned to his wooden house, then gave a few instructions to the gray dwarf and cat maids, and entered his meditation room.

Locke quickly recalled the content of the meditation method he had just learned.

These contents did not appear in his mind in the form of words, but turned into an instinct, as if it was something he was born with.

Just like mice are born to dig holes, birds are born to fly, and fish are born to swim, he only needs to practice to master and improve these innate abilities.

Locke crossed his legs and closed his eyes. His consciousness seemed to travel through time and space and he saw a beautiful picture.

In a place where the sky is covered with rainbows, there is a vast forest. In that forest, there are ancient trees everywhere, thousand-year-old tree people, ancient trees of life, ancient trees of knowledge, ancient trees of war…

And in the middle of this forest is a majestic world tree.

This forest is so full of vitality, with countless magical plants and magical creatures living here. The huge natural energy is enough to distort the laws of physics, making it impossible for external forces to have any effect here.

At this time, a wizard wearing a wizard robe and with a blurred face suddenly walked into the forest, like a stone falling into a calm lake.

“So this is the World Tree? By simulating the magical form of the World Tree, I can also obtain such powerful power from nature…” The wizard raised his head, and his face became clear and turned into Locke’s face.

The next moment, Locke’s magic power fluctuations began to change. He stopped breathing, and each breath was barely noticeable. His magic power showed a special rhythm.

That is a mimicry of the World Tree’s magical power.

In the darkness, he saw a void, and in this void he saw a world plane in a distant place. From that world plane, natural energy continued to flow back, strengthening his magic power and increasing his mental strength.

Thus, the magic power that had reached a limit and could not make any progress for several months was nourished again and began to make rapid progress again.

“So this is the Advanced Meditation Method. Advanced Meditation Method can actually directly draw energy from other planes to increase the wizard’s magical power. Therefore, wizards who originally made little progress using basic meditation methods can now make rapid progress in their lifetime.”

“The advanced meditation method… seems to be divided into seven levels. As long as I learn this natural plane advanced meditation method to the fourth level, I can become a formal wizard. Each subsequent level of meditation seems to be able to further improve the level of a formal wizard.” Locke understood.

Currently, he is at the first level of advanced meditation, so he is very far away from the natural plane and can only absorb a little bit of energy radiated from the natural plane from the endless void.

But despite this, it was enough to promote the rapid improvement of his magic power.

Locke meditated for three hours, exhausted and breathless. “Advanced meditation is different from ordinary meditation. Because it absorbs energy radiated from other planes from the void, the process of capturing this energy continuously consumes my energy. I can only meditate for three hours at a time, unless I buy the [Energy Potion].”

“I remember a bottle of energy potion costing two hundred magic stones! No wonder it’s so expensive. It turns out it’s a companion potion for advanced meditation.”

“Secondly, I need to buy the [Four Seasons Fruit Core Fragrance], which can harmonize my mana and allow me to absorb the energy radiated from the natural plane more efficiently. Of course, you don’t have to buy it.”

“I remember that the Four Seasons Fruit Core Fragrance is made using a special method. It’s a processed magical resource,” Locke pondered. “The monthly consumption should be around 300 grams. Every 10 grams of this stuff costs about 50 magic stones.”

Locke’s expression changed slightly. “That would cost 1,500 magic stones a month.”

“Of course, I don’t need to use energy potions and seasonal fruit core incense every night when I meditate.”

“But if I pursue the fastest possible advancement, then I’ll spend every month on meditation alone. These two ingredients cost over 5,000 magic stones. I also have to factor in the cost of the Blood-Weeping Nightshade Potion and the Star Tears Potion.”

Locke felt like his head was twice as big as his own. “That doesn’t even include the cost of my other research. If there were no restrictions, my monthly expenses would be over eight thousand.”

“Most first-class wizard apprentices can’t afford this kind of money.”

Locke pondered, “If the advanced meditation method doesn’t use additional materials, then you can only meditate for three hours a day, and the meditation efficiency is only about 50%.”

“But I’m afraid that most first-class wizard apprentices won’t spend money to buy additional materials. Or, they need to sign a harsh agreement with others and obtain a large amount of magical resources to have the money to buy additional materials.”

“So, I still need to make money.” Locke thought: “No wonder Teacher Sophia didn’t become a formal wizard directly, but instead became a first-ring breeder and a first-ring potion master at the same time.”

“Without a side job, how can I continue studying? In this world, studying is the most expensive thing in the world.”
