Chapter 1122
Chapter 1122
Chapter 1100 Probus Reborn!
Above the Crystal Wall System, Edgar’s true form felt a tremendous suction force. The Perfect Tree on the land of the Creation Lotus Plane had broken free of Edgar’s control, now operating automatically and constantly summoning him.
Ramses and Patrick looked at Edgar in surprise.
Ramses tentatively asked, “Edgar, how are you now?”
Edgar gave them a cold look.
The Macedonian witch glanced at Edgar, while Locke asked him, “Edgar, has your ultimate magic gone out of control?”
Edgar shook his head and replied to Locke, “It’s not exactly out of control. Locke, my ultimate magic is working as I intended, but there’s a problem. My ultimate magic not only forcibly summoned Ramses and Patrick, but it’s now summoning me too. Yes. The essence of the Unforged Empire is nothingness; the better the Unforged, the more so.” “
But as long as my will remains with the Tree of All Things,”
“it’s still not truly a good Unforged.” “
Therefore, the Tree of All Things is forcibly summoning me; it wants to use the Elven Empire’s current resources and the life force it possesses to forcibly summon me back into that world.” “
It wants my true form to descend into the world within that ultimate magic. I never thought I’d end up like this.”
The Macedonian witch looked at him, her brow furrowed.
“This is your downfall, a consequence of your many evil deeds. Edgar, temporarily cease all use of your Great Magic. I’ve shattered your Great Magic for you, felling that Perfect Tree. Although this means you’ll need to cultivate a new Perfect Tree, and it might even fall out of the Star Ring, it’s still better than what you’re doing now.”
“You’ve expanded too much; you can no longer control the form accumulated within your Great Magic system due to this rapid expansion.”
Ramses and Patrick exchanged a glance, their eyes gleaming, clearly sensing an opportunity.
Meanwhile, Locke sensed that the essence of Wizard Probus was gradually drifting away from the competition. Clearly, as an invisible spectator, Wizard Probus was extremely displeased with the current situation; he was sliding into the abyss.
Locke frowned. If this was the case, then the performance of the contestants this time was somewhat below his expectations.
If that’s the case, then I’ll have to go and verify the fake forging beforehand.
However, the rangers here aren’t mature enough yet.
Besides, now isn’t the best time.
Most importantly, Locke is also searching for the hidden swarm, after all, it’s the main enemy in this creation puzzle, but like Edgar, Locke can’t pinpoint its location.
The Macedonian witch is probably in the same boat, as she also sent her own forces to search for the swarm, but it seems she hasn’t located it.
At this moment, on the viewing platform of the Rain Marsh, the masked witch breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this.
It seems these contestants can’t solve this creation puzzle.
Meanwhile, the Star Ring Witch of the local White Wizarding Association’s Demon Hunter Division in the audience saw this and immediately curled her lips into a smile.
“In that case, we can explain to that big shot in the Starfield Sea.”
Two subordinates whispered in her ear, assessing whether this competition held the potential to solve the creation puzzle and find the truth of sixty years ago.
At the same time, the Death Witch Doctor, who had come concealing his magical pressure, also breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this.
He understood the current situation better than the Star Ring Wizards.
“Leaving aside whether it can unlock the Creation Lotus, even Wizard Probus’s attention seems to have shifted away from this competition. Wizard Edgar’s fake forging of the Void Emperor can be described as a complete failure. His theoretical system is too crude, and several problems arose during the fake forging process. If it can be completed, it will be a high-quality fake forging, making him the first wizard in the wizarding world in a hundred years to successfully forge an Emperor again.” “
But if it fails, then it’s nothing.”
“Emperor? Hmph. What era is this?”
Suddenly a voice appeared in his ear, “You’re wrong.”
Death Wizard Tumras narrowed his eyes, and when he swept his sinister gaze over Sea Queen Throne, his expression changed slightly. Sea Queen Throne was the most likely third-ring Throne Potions Master in the Southern Realm to become a fourth-ring wizard back then. She held a special position in the Potions Master community. Her Potions Mastery was recognized by fourth-ring wizards and was considered to be among the top three in the Southern Realm, a level that many fourth-ring Potions Masters could not reach. Therefore, many Potions Masters had heard of her name.
When the Feathered Serpent Pavilion recommended a potion master to Locke Augustine, they specifically recommended this potion master to him.
The Sea Queen, legs crossed, held a bottle of wine, reeking of alcohol. She wore a sleeveless wizard’s robe, her arms covered in centipede tattoos.
“Tumras, you’re wrong. If this child can truly forge an Emperor, he’ll gain early access to the Star Sea and a top-tier teaching position. As far as I know, the Emperor is merely the starting point of the Emperor’s path; every ‘Emperor’ is forced into becoming the most intelligent person of their time.”
“In ancient times, every ‘Emperor’ who reached the end of the path protected early civilizations. They all propelled the development of civilization. If in this era, a person of exceptional intelligence becomes an Emperor…”
The Sea Queen took a sip of her wizard’s wine. “That’s the tragedy of this era.”
“Only in dark ages can the soil for an ‘Emperor’ to emerge.”
The Death Witch Doctor quickly stood up and bowed to the Sea Queen, saying, “Your Majesty, you’ve come in person. Why didn’t you inform me? Given your status, I should bow to you. Your Majesty, a pioneer of potion-making, there’s something I don’t understand. This world is so prosperous, like the pinnacle of all civilizations. Why is it that in our time, there’s still a talented young man who wants to forge a ‘Great Emperor’?”
“If this era is considered dark, then what era in the past wasn’t dark?”
The Sea Queen shook her head slightly.
“Tumras, you have some skill in the toxicology of potion-making. But your talent has reached its limit. You will never receive the title of Throne in this lifetime. Because your comprehension is too poor. The darkness of each era is different. Besides, if an ‘Emperor’ appears, it means that this era has not yet reached the heights it should have reached.” “
Besides, the White Wizards’ Guild won’t allow it either—”
The Death Witch Doctor quickly waved his hand, “Your Majesty, we won’t discuss this.”
“I only care about potion-making, you’re right. Aside from potion-making, that’s the only problem I’m worried about.”
“You’re an elder of my Death Selection Guild, what should we do now?” The
Death Witch Doctor, having been told by two consecutive Throne Wizards that he’d never become a Throne Wizard, was feeling somewhat numb. The Sea Queen Throne took a sip of wizard’s wine. “Locke is my student.”
The Death Witch Doctor’s brow twitched.
Huh?
The Death Witch Doctor said, “Since you’re all on our side—”
The Sea Queen said, “I won’t stop you. I find this very interesting. Watching you all busy yourself for my student is quite entertaining. Besides, I want to see
what fate awaits that fake Forging Emperor brat, I want to see if that witch’s fake forging of the Three Realms will be completed, I want to know if the other wizards will perform better in this competition, and I especially want to know what my student, Locke Augustine, can fake forge!”
The Sea Queen reeked of alcohol, even irritating the wizards nearby. She had only used a soundproofing spell, not a spell to block odors. However, before the Moon Ring and Star Ring wizards could even show their displeasure, the moment they saw the Throne-level Potions Master badge on the Sea Queen’s chest, their expressions immediately changed, becoming very amiable, no longer caring about being bothered by her alcohol fumes.
The Death Doctor said, “But this will expose—”
The Sea Queen became serious and said, “Alright, I need to convey to you the latest orders from the Death God Selection Council.”
“That one from the Starfield Sea has gone too far.”
“From now on, we’re withdrawing from this matter. This matter is indeed related to us, but actually not that much. Back then, they merely met through the Death God Selection Council’s social circles. It’s just that because they were too deeply involved with our Death God Selection Council, we collectively blocked the news to avoid exposure. But that one from the Starfield Sea has angered us. Her actions of frequently exposing the Gate of Doom to the entire Rain Swamp, and her actual intention to activate the Gate of Doom, have enraged us.”
The Death Doctor was stunned. “She’s going to activate the Gate of Doomsday? Has she gone mad?”
“If she activates it, the Void Fleet of the Mystic Heaven will likely turn on its own forces for the first time in ten thousand years, potentially even triggering a conflict between the Starfield Sea and the Mystic Heaven.”
“My God. What is she thinking? She holds a high position in the White Wizard Association, and she actually wants to open the Gate of Doomsday in a superior wizarding land like the Three Swamps. There have been wizarding lands that have been crippled and reduced to ordinary wizarding lands because of the Gate of Doomsday. Once the Gate of Doomsday is opened, she will offend all the third-ring and fourth-ring wizards within that wizarding land.”
“It’s not just the wizard. This wizarding land hides many ancient magical creatures, ancient beings, and those ancient Three Kings who may not all be dead. There’s also the powerful Dark Wizard Alliance here. Is she insane?”
Sea Queen said. “The Death God Selection Council also thinks she’s insane. We’ve decided to withdraw from this event and no longer get involved. Because you and I can no longer interfere in this competition. This person is insane and extremely arrogant. The secret wizarding order composed of Third Ring Wizards no longer accepts her. And before we could expel her, she took the initiative to leave the Death God Selection Council and reported our existence to the White Wizard Association across the Starfield Sea.”
Death Doctor said, “This—I didn’t expect so many things to have happened during this time. No wonder Locke’s Probus Truth Unveiling Competition could proceed normally. It turns out the Elder Council and that big shot actually clashed.”
“I was wondering why the Elders ignored my advice. They could have simply set up a high-level wizarding domain nearby to distract the wizards. There would have been no need to disrupt the competition. I never imagined that this important figure would target us during this time,”
said Sea Queen. “She has leverage over two top-tier journals from the Death God Elective Society, and the Elders have been manipulating the title of ‘Guide to the New Century.’ Those two journals are about to be thoroughly investigated, and the related industry chain of ‘Guide to the New Century’ will likely be investigated after this competition. It depends on whether my student Locke can uncover the truth. The best-case scenario is that he won’t find out what happened back then. Therefore, our Elders have only lost two top-tier journals.” “
The most critical issue is that she reported the Elders’ long-standing research topic to the White Wizarding Association: the locking and designation of actual reincarnations.” “
In the future, the White Wizarding Association will likely conduct a thorough investigation of our organization. This is very disadvantageous for us.”
“But those are all things for the future. Right now, the only thing the Elders want to do is to recover from this competition a crucial research result of the collaboration between the Death God Selection Society and the Tacitus family of the Cloud Marsh Rose Council—that goddess Rose.”
“That’s evidence of the Elders’ crimes, and it absolutely cannot fall into the hands of the White Wizard Association. It’s a pity that the goddess entered the competition, otherwise you and I would capture and recover her now.”
“As for that important figure, the ancestral protection behind her is too powerful. Our Death God Selection Society also has many loopholes, so we’ve decided to ignore her. We’ll retreat first. After all, if we confront her, our organization will be more easily exposed. The White Wizard Association only knows that this matter is too big, so they don’t dare to define our Death God Selection Society as a black wizard organization, and they’ll probably handle it more gently.”
Sea Queen said, “That’s how it is.”
The Death Doctor felt a headache coming on because his troubles had grown. The Death God Selection Society didn’t want to get involved in this matter anymore, but he still had more leverage in the hands of that important figure, and his students also had many connections with that important figure.
The Death Doctor asked, “Then what should I do?”
The Sea Queen raised an eyebrow. “Accept reality. You can pray that this competition won’t uncover the final truth of what happened back then.”
The Sea Queen snapped her fingers, and the soundproofing spell was instantly canceled. “Alright, let me see what this wizard named Edgar is capable of.”
The Death Witch Doctor was somewhat displeased. He said, “Great Magic is a very delicate and complex form of magic. I don’t think he has the talent of the False Forger Emperor.”
“Moreover, our White Wizarding Association was established by the founding wizards during the Enlightenment, following the path of benevolence, with only responsibility, no rights. His path is the opposite of ours, and may not be needed by the wizarding world.”
At the same time, a wizard dressed in black robes and wearing a black hood suddenly walked from afar and sat down beside them, saying, “Gentlemen, when I passed by just now, I think I heard you say that the founding wizards of the White Wizarding Association were benevolent beings?”
“Heh, that might be the most interesting joke I’ve ever heard.”
“I have high hopes for that kid.”
The Death Witch Doctor narrowed his eyes dangerously, looking at the wizard in the black robes. “A third-ring wizard?
A third-ring dark wizard?”
“Why are you here? Are the dark wizards also watching this competition?”
“Aren’t you afraid we white wizards will gang up on you and wipe you out?”
The wizard chuckled. “I’ve come today for an old friend, a friend named Probus. I entrusted the Queen of the Abyss to him years ago, and later learned of his tragic fate. I felt deeply saddened, as if the world had lost another interesting person. Hearing that someone wants to investigate the truth of what happened back then, of course I came. Besides, you white wizards don’t need ‘Emperors,’ but we dark wizards do.”
“This world is so dark.”
“Indeed, we need someone to walk the path of ‘Emperor.’ Before, no matter how talented we dark wizards were, we couldn’t forge a fake Emperor. Unexpectedly, someone has begun to attempt to forge a fake Emperor again today. Such talent is exactly what we need. However, from another perspective, this shows that your association is failing, on the decline. It seems our alliance can also begin a new round of forging fake Emperors.” “
The Death Doctor said coldly, “As long as the White Wizarding Association exists, you bunch of wicked people who treat all mortals as experimental subjects will never succeed.”
“Besides, that wizard might not even succeed.”
Neptune looked at the third-ringed dark wizard and whistled. “Since you’re here, then enjoy the match.”
The third-ringed dark wizard, a young man, smiled and said, “Indeed.”
“This match became a hot topic in our dark wizarding world when Mr. Edgar tried to fake the Emperor Forging. There should be many wizards watching now. Also, besides my old friend, I’ve observed that there are quite a few old friends of Probus Wizards in this venue. How interesting. I really want to know how this matter will ultimately turn out.”
Neptune laughed, “It seems that we’re not the only ones who have secretly come to watch this match.”
“This wizard, since we’re all going to watch the match, let’s be friends for now. Friend, would you like a drink?”
Neptune tossed him a bottle of wizard’s wine, which the dark wizard caught.
“Could it be poison? Hmm? Good wine. It seems Her Majesty has gone to the once-a-decade Dionysian Wizards’ Carnival in the Rainswamp. What refined taste! I’ve long heard that the Sea Queen is unconventional, generous, and doesn’t care about trifles; seeing her today, it’s certainly true.”
The black wizard tilted his head back and drank the wine.
At this moment, the situation within the Creation Lotus was even more chaotic. Edgar’s elven empire began to experience a series of disorderly events. His empire was unable to recover from the insect plague, and Edgar himself was unable to leave the Tree of Perfection, which only exacerbated the situation.
The Frost Witch and the Star Ring Witch Demon Hunter Captain from the Rainswamp, who were secretly watching the competition, were very excited to see this scene unfold. They hoped that the entire competition would collapse.
Shouldn’t this be considered a normal development?
After all, this is a creation problem.
Holding a competition with a creation problem is prone to all sorts of unexpected events, isn’t it?
The Star Ring Witch Demon Hunter Captain clenched her fists, thinking.
She was uneasy, yet expectant.
Within the world of the Primordial Lotus, Locke approached the wizard Edgar and said, “Forcibly destroying some of your powerful magic now should temporarily help you. This will minimize your losses.”
“That way, you can still participate in the competition. What do you think?”
Locke sensed that the essence of the wizard Probus was rapidly receding, so he had to intervene to stabilize Edgar’s situation.
The wizard Edgar raised his right hand, refusing, “No.”
His true form gazed down, his expression shifting inscrutable, deep in thought.
“I was traumatized in the Blackwater World. I witnessed the corruption of humanity, the destruction of the world. I saw many people, to shirk their responsibilities, concentrate all the evil on a few individuals. I saw a group of giant infants who weren’t even first-ring wizards.”
Locke’s expression shifted slightly, wondering what Edgar had seen in that world that left him with such lingering effects, leading him to attempt to forge the Void Emperor.
Edgar, hands behind his back, said, “I met an interesting person in the Blackwater World, and we talked a lot.
He’s a truly learned wizard; he said he had many insights from the Blackwater World.”
“He’s been researching this for a long time.”
“He gave me a top-tier meditation method, and he also helped me complete the Void Emperor’s idea. The Void Emperor is a way of allocating resources, and also a way of utilizing talent. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my current state. Using the Void Emperor, I can quickly increase my power, and I can use the Unforged Empire to absorb a lot of Void Forged materials, like investment banks in the wizarding world now, using small investments to make big gains.”
“But I don’t know where the problem lies. I know there must be something within my vast magical framework that has stolen my form.”
“I must take responsibility for my mistakes. I must find them.”
Edgar looked at Locke, his eyes serious. “Locke, let me ask you a question. Are you confident you can win this match?”
Locke said, “I have no interest in winning.”
Edgar paused, then changed his question. “Are you confident you can solve the creation problem?”
Locke thought for a moment and said, “Fifty percent.”
Edgar looked at the Macedonian witch. “And what about you?”
the Macedonian witch asked. “I’m about fifty percent sure.”
Edgar nodded, a smirk playing on his lips. “Fifty percent? That’s enough. I also feel fifty percent sure. This situation is truly different from the Silent Grail War. Locke, do you remember the Silent Grail War? Back then, we were all focused on winning, but now, we don’t want to win; we want to solve the creation mystery.”
“The three of us believe we have a 50% chance of success, and resources within a world are finite. In other words, our conflict right now isn’t about who’s left last, but about whether our ideas can be applied to this world. This is the struggle of principles. This is a gentleman’s struggle. I understand your thoughts, but I still believe my ideas are better.”
“But I can trust you.”
“Therefore, Locke, I believe in you. Even in the end, you can still solve the creation problem and resolve the troubles.”
Edgar took a step forward, standing at the edge of the world. He was just one step away from falling from the crystal wall system into this world.
Locke’s eyelids twitched, and he said to him, “What are you going to do?”
Macedon, Patrick, and Ramses all looked at Edgar.
Edgar said, “I need to admit my mistakes. There must be an unchosen group stealing my form. I’ve focused my attention on the existing imperial system.”
“I know something’s fishy going on.”
“I have two guesses. First, my Great Magic is flawed, causing a problem with a spell cycle, leading to a leak of magical pressure.”
“Second, the Unforged Empire itself is flawed. That empire is now a ravages of war, where evil reigns supreme, kindness is seen as weakness, deception as intelligence, and a lack of morality is considered a sign of inner strength. It’s all too similar to the Blackwater world. But—”
Edgar’s eyes were serious. “There are differences.”
“That is, as the designer of this system, I will not run away.”
“I will bear the sins of this Great Magic system myself. The Tree of Perfection is calling me, trying to lock me within it. I will not run away; I will actively enter that world. Locke, I will definitely solve the problem, find those who cannot be locked down, and find the loopholes in my system. But I trust you. If I fail, then you will clean up the mess.”
Edgar turned and smiled at Locke.
“I believe you.”
The next moment, Edgar jumped directly from the crystal wall system, like a diving athlete falling into the water. His main body descended from the sky, and the immense magical pressure crashed to the ground. Edgar’s eyes were filled with sharpness. He couldn’t find those unchosen beings, those beings who stole his form, up there, so he would go down directly.
He entered the Tree of Perfection directly in his main body.
He wanted to see what exactly was wrong that would cause his Great Magic to collapse!
Ramses was stunned. “No way, his main body went down? If it were the end of the world, of course everything would be reset. But this creation problem resets the moment of death at the end of the world. In other words, if he didn’t die at the end of the world, then death is death. Even if the Great Magic is unleashed, in the end, only the Great Magic will be destroyed.” “
At most, he will be seriously injured. If his main body doesn’t go down, he won’t die.” “
There is still room for maneuver.”
“But if his main body goes down—”
Chairman Patrick looked at Locke and said, “Mr. Locke, are all the wizards of your Cloud Marsh Wetlands this ruthless? He didn’t even go down when he had the advantage, but when he was at a complete disadvantage and a problem arose.”
Locke looked at the ground. “Edgar, go and take responsibility for your sins. He’s always been so stubborn. I think he discovered something, and that’s why he insisted on going down to confirm it himself. He also believed we could solve the creation problem and the swarm, which is why he dared to go down.”
Locke recalled the look in Edgar’s eyes earlier—a look of trust.
No matter how bad the situation, he believed he could solve it.
If Edgar was truly wrong, he could also correct his mistake.
This trust—
Locke walked to the edge of the crystal wall system and looked at the earth.
At this moment, the Macedonian witch walked over, also looking at the earth, a hint of hesitation flashing in her eyes.
“I greatly admire Edgar’s character.”
She used a top-level meditation technique to reduce her hesitation, and now her gaze was unwavering, a tear rolling down her right eye.
“When I left the research institute, the deputy director told me that the struggle for the Dao was incredibly cruel. I was thinking, ‘Isn’t it just about eliminating your opponent and winning?’
” “How cruel is that?”
“Could it be crueler than a real war where you have to destroy your opponent’s body and soul? Now I understand why the struggle for the Dao is cruel. Several powerful individuals compete, respect each other, secretly admire one another, but still have to eliminate the other. Because—I believe only my method can solve the fundamental problem of creation.”
The Macedonian witch’s eyes turned serious.
She immediately made a decision to seize this opportunity to attack the Elven Empire again.
The tear on the Macedonian witch’s cheek disappeared.
“Is this the cruelty of the struggle for the Dao? We’re both right, but my method is the best. I can’t persuade Edgar, and I suspect Edgar can’t persuade me either. So, let’s just fight. Locke, you’re the same, aren’t you?”
At this moment, Locke noticed that the essence of the Wizard of Probus, which had been moving away, stopped moving away because Edgar had taken the initiative to enter the Creation Lotus Problem. And at the moment when the Macedonian witch ordered the attack on the Elf Empire to continue and shed tears, the essence of the Wizard of Probus not only didn’t move away, but instead rapidly approached.
Like a shooting star, it was falling.
The sky above the world sensed this and a shooting star streaked across the night sky.
Seeing this, Locke immediately understood that from now on, the struggle was no longer a bunch of cowardly people fighting and scheming for their own interests, but a struggle for the right to provide the world with the final cure for the best answer in their hearts. This is the struggle for the Dao.
This struggle arises because both sides are good people, yet they attack each other, even attacking each other’s reputation, magic, and disproving everything about the other, even knowing that the other is a fellow traveler, a friend. The struggle for the Dao is so cruel, so regrettable.
But this struggle is not merely a matter of petty folly.
It is powerful enough to transform into the most potent ritual force, summoning the very essence of the Probus Wizard. This
struggle is drawing the Probus Wizard!
Beneath the perfect tree of the Creation Lotus World, Edgar’s true form merged completely with the Elf Emperor’s body. He sat on his throne beneath the tree, rapidly patching his “All Things Return to the Tree” cycle with a three-star ring spell model. He used the flow of spiritual energy to capture the life force of almost every elf in the world,
thus enhancing his observation of this world.
Edgar, therefore, had to constantly bear the suffering of the entire world.
On his throne, Edgar bowed his head and whispered, “All are guilty, but the guilt lies with one man. This is my imperial way.”
In that instant, he strengthened his control over his Great Spells, but he was also sealed near the Tree of Perfection. Simultaneously, he quickly began examining his Great Spells, trying to expedite the identification of any problems.
Meanwhile
, in an office in the Starfield Sea, a Third Ring Throne Archaeology Wizard was watching the match. Seeing this scene, his eyes lit up.
“Everyone,”
all the wizards in the office looked up from their workbenches.
The archaeology wizard of the Third Ring Throne said, “I originally just wanted to watch Locke Augustine’s match. But I didn’t expect to make a new discovery. This young junior named Edgar is a rare research resource for our group.” “
Our group studies the Imperial Age before the Age of Stars.”
“We know the Imperial Age is the Age of Emperors. We know the wizarding civilization of the Imperial Age is defined by our current archaeological research as an unforged civilization.” “
And this young junior has actually created an unforged empire. The reason our research progress is slow is because there are no wizards in the world who can fake forge the Imperial Path. But now there is. Although he uses extremely powerful magic, different from the magic system used by those great wizards of ancient times, it is very valuable for research. Everyone, prepare to work overtime.” “
Furthermore, if this wizard can truly fake forge the Imperial Path, then let’s send him a job offer from a top academy.”
In the Rain Swamp, amidst the Creation Lotus Dilemma,
Locke’s avatar, the elven youth, sat on a rock, gazing at the sky, seeing a star that was dazzling even in daylight.
That was the form manifested by the wizard Probus in this world through his own ritual:
The elven youth looked at the various Ranger Masters and asked, “Gentlemen, have you discerned anything special about this Leaf of Power?”
The most powerful Ranger Masters among the twenty million Rangers collectively shook their heads, intently examining the leaf.
Locke scanned the crowd and asked, “Where is Master Qin?”
A Master Julian replied, “Master Qin passed away last year.”
Locke said, “Then can you discern anything special about this Leaf of Power?”
The Ranger Masters present again collectively shook their heads. Master
Julian’s eyes dimmed. “Give us some more time. You are so powerful; if you say this Leaf of Power is special, then it must be special. It’s just that we haven’t found its special features yet. Give me another year—no—more than that.”
Locke said, “No, I don’t have time. This body is already thirty-three years old. This is the limit of its lifespan.”
Master Julian looked at Locke with doubt in his eyes, a doubt stemming from hearing of Locke’s short lifespan. He sized Locke up and down. “
Ordinary Ranger Masters can generally live to a ripe old age of 50? Does that mean you can’t even outlive an ordinary Ranger?”
“Does that mean you’re not as powerful as I thought?”
Locke smirked. “You doubt me because of my short lifespan? You people, though you call yourselves Ranger Masters, when I passed on the Ranger’s Way to the first Ranger in this world thousands of years ago, I didn’t show him anything special, yet he saw my power in me.”
“Gentlemen, does that mean without the outward appearance of power, without the form of power, you have no ability to judge whether someone is powerful? Gentlemen, you’ve studied the Ranger’s Way for so long, yet you still rely on external things to judge things.”
Master Julian said, “But there are so many charlatans in this world. We disciples are ignorant; without the display of supreme divine power, we truly don’t know what the correct path is. Since you are so powerful, why did you die so young?”
Locke pointed to a large mountain ahead, and in an instant, his magic leveled the mountain.
Everyone’s pupils constricted sharply, and they knelt before Locke in fear and trembling, apologizing for their mistakes and admitting their ignorance.
Locke sighed.
“Life and death are predestined, a natural cycle. Since you all speak of following nature, of being close to nature, then I ask you, why does the Way of the Rangers pursue longevity instead of following life and death? Why must I now follow life and death, dying at thirty-three, when I could extend my life, yet I refuse to increase my original lifespan?”
“I will ask you one last question. What does it mean to follow nature?”
Faced with this final question, the group of Ranger masters were clearly bewildered. Some quickly jotted down Locke’s last question.
Master Julian asked, “Teacher, if you leave, from whom shall we seek wisdom? Teacher, please use magic to extend your life. Please leave behind your wisdom, I beg you.”
Locke shook his head slightly. “Some things have no answers for now, so let us first learn to ask questions.”
The next moment, Locke’s avatar naturally died, a smile playing on his lips.
Immediately afterward, this part of Locke’s avatar rapidly shifted. After a period of time, following the original cycle of this world, he entered the bedroom of an elven nobleman within the Elven Empire, into the body of an infant born with the potential to die. The next moment, Locke’s form, along with the ritual power of the competition, drew a star from the sky to this location.
As the infant was born, the mother looked at her baby with a happy smile. Overwhelmed with joy, she uttered a name.
“From today onward, you will be called—Probus.”
“My child.”
“It’s a pity I cannot reveal your identity. Because my relationship with your father is not legitimate. I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.”
At this moment, Locke, using the ritual power generated by the Dao Competition, allowed the essence of the wizard Probus to manifest in this world.
This was not reincarnation.
After all, Locke suspected that Probus’s true form had not died, but rather, during the kingship ceremony in the Abyss, this was to allow his essence to descend into an avatar within an infant alongside himself.
The power of the ritual magic of the Tower of the Black Sun was evident.
On the viewing platform, the witch from the Star Ring Demon Hunter squadron was utterly astonished. “Wasn’t he already dead?
How could this be? Probus turned into a baby within that creation puzzle?”
She felt a surge of panic.
The Frost Witch’s eyes practically blazed with fury
