Chapter 33 Public Courses
The group of wooden houses in the most central area of the port city is also the public class area of Lilith’s Hut. In one of the wooden houses, the official wizard Urien Rich is giving a lecture at the podium.
He was wearing a wizard robe embroidered with silver thread, and a wizard slate was floating behind him. The wizard slate was like a screen, suspended behind him.
Urien Rich, a formal wizard specializing in frost magic in the School of Evolution, is explaining the basic principles of runes.
“Runes and languages are a major foundation of mysticism. Although not all of it, they are important courses. You have all studied many ancient language courses, which are the foundation of basic runes, but basic runes are more complex than anything you have learned before.”
“The basic task of my course is to enable you children to at least learn the basic runic terms of the four basic magics: wind magic, water magic, fire magic, and earth magic.”
“Once you learn these four basic rune terms, it will be very easy to understand and learn the basic runes of other magic.”
“So, this can be said to be the foundation of wizards.”
“Some wizard apprentices are often anxious to reach the second-level wizard apprentice level as quickly as possible. To this end, they recklessly increase their mental strength and forget to lay a solid foundation. The final result will not be very good.”
Urien Rich spoke indifferently. He didn’t seem to care much about how many students could keep up with his lecture speed. He was more concerned about completing the academy’s tasks, so his lectures were very casual.
Most of the time, he just flipped through the textbook stiffly.
What he said was almost exactly the same as what was written in the textbook, except that sometimes, when he was in the mood, he would say a sentence or two to explain a little.
If it weren’t for Lilith’s Cottage, where formal wizards who took turns teaching were required to give their own lectures, Ullion Rich would probably have asked students to study on their own by reading textbooks.
Mentor Urien Rich was lecturing at the podium, while Locke was writing down key points at his seat.
After he memorizes some details, he won’t understand them immediately, so he needs to go back and review and savor them carefully.
And if there are some things you don’t understand at the moment, you can ask Teacher Sophia. Teacher Sophia can often understand you at a glance, and know what you don’t understand or what knowledge you lack, and then just give you a book to read and understand.
Locke looked around the classroom. Because instructor Ullion Rich spoke very quickly and not very carefully, most of the young wizards in Lilith’s Hut were unable to keep up, and only a small number of them could fully understand it.
This group of people are those who possess level 5 and level 6 wizard qualifications.
Their learning efficiency is much faster than that of Locke, Lawn and others.
After one class, Lawn, who was sitting next to Locke, was already extremely confused and dizzy.
Not only him, some of the young wizards around him even had wandering eyes because they couldn’t keep up.
Someone whispered in class, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand. To become a second-class wizard, you need to learn more spells and reach 50 points of mental strength.”
“It doesn’t matter if you don’t learn the basic runes well.”
“I heard that many seniors failed this course. We are all wizards, so why should we be afraid of failing the exam?”
Locke glanced at the person who spoke and remembered that this young wizard was a level 2 wizard.
Indeed, the basic rune class does not directly affect becoming a second-class wizard apprentice, but it will affect one’s own path of learning and trying to build one’s own magical framework.
“It turns out that from the first week of school, there has been a serious polarization.” Locke realized: “Anyone who aspires to be a formal wizard cannot fail to learn the basics.”
“Otherwise, when I learn spell models myself in the future, will I only be able to follow others and sift through their research and interpretation of the models?”
At the podium, Professor Urien Rich heard the mechanical alarm clock outside Lilith’s cabin ringing, signaling the end of get out of class. Without even a polite word, he immediately closed his textbook and turned to walk out of the church.
He didn’t even give his apprentices a chance to ask him questions.
The public classes at Lilith Hut are more like a benefit, and the instructors don’t care about the students’ grades at all.
It doesn’t matter whether you want to listen or not, or whether you don’t understand or not, it has nothing to do with them anyway.
After class, many apprentices took the opportunity to go to the wizard apprentices with level 5 and 6 qualifications to seek their notes and interpretations.
Of course, this usually requires paying one or two magic stones.
“I really envy those talented students. They can earn magic stones just by sitting still.” Laun looked at a group of apprentices who were eagerly surrounding an apprentice named Everett Levi and asking questions.
Everett Levis has a level 6 qualification and, like Locke, has a primary compatibility with the wood element.
He is the wizard with the best overall qualifications among this batch of wizard seedlings.
From the first day of school, he was valued by Lilith Lodge and received intensive training.
Unlike Locke and others, a wizard seedling with this qualification, even if he is only a third-class wizard apprentice, will be regarded as one of the academy’s own.
Laun said enviously, “But, Locke, you’re lucky too. Your instructor only has you as a student, so you can ask her any questions you want.”
“Even Everett Lewis doesn’t have the conditions to receive constant instruction from a formal wizard.”
“I heard that he only met his mentor a few times.”
Lawn said to Locke, “And I’m even worse off. I haven’t seen Mr. Hammerk Us since I started school.”
“The one who brought me here was just a second-class wizard apprentice.”
Locke shrugged. “It can’t be helped. This is all assigned by the academy. How about I talk to Teacher Sophia and ask her to bring you over as well?”
Locke deliberately teased that he certainly would not do such a rash act, it was just a joke between friends.
As a formal wizard, it is not your place to give orders.
Laun waved his hands quickly, “No, no, no, if I really do that, I will offend Mr. Hammerk Us.”
“Although I’ve never met him, I wouldn’t dare offend him. He has quite a few students in Lilith’s Cottage. Almost all wizards specializing in light magic have received some form of his instruction.”
Sitting at the table in front of them was Pierre, Locke and Lawn’s neighbor on Dwarf Street, a native of the Southeast Corner.
But his family conditions are relatively ordinary, and his parents are just ordinary businessmen, so he also lives in Dwarf Street.
Pierre’s wizard qualification is level 4.
Pierre turned around and looked at Locke and Lawn. “I’ve inquired, Locke. Your teacher, Lady Sophia, became a formal wizard within the last six months.”
“That is to say, a few months ago, she was still a student of this academy.”
“It must be a coincidence that the academy made you her student. You’re so lucky. Locke, when you go back and finish listening to Mistress Sophia’s private lessons, can you give me a copy of your notes? I didn’t understand some parts of the lecture.”
“Of course, as per usual practice, I will pay you one magic stone.”
Locke nodded, “Of course, Pierre.”
Anyway, I just copied one more note.
As for Lawen, Locke looked at him.
The relationship between the two would be better, and Laun also came from the overseas mortal world and did not have any magic stones on him.
It’s also difficult.
So, Locke always lent him his notes for free for one night and asked him to return them the next day.
There was no reason for Locke not to do this kind of favor which did not require any trouble for him.
