Chapter 47 The Failed Apprentice
The feeling of riding the Engel’s Spiral Snail is like riding in a speeding car. As a magical creature selected and transformed by the beast taming magic, the Engel’s Spiral Snail moves very fast. This creature comes with a 0.3-level trick [Drift].
They can run non-stop for five or six hours and maintain a very high speed. They are the first choice for the wizard apprentices of Lilith’s Hut when they need to move quickly in the city.
Locke looked at the target of the patrol’s law enforcement wizards, his pupils shrank slightly, because the dwarf street in front of him was the one he was familiar with.
But at that time, the iron statue of the Hearthstone Dwarf at the entrance of Dwarven Street had been removed by humans, leaving only a bare stone base.
At the same time, a “humanoid creature” with long, rope-like limbs was at the entrance of the street. He had many appendages on his body, such as a pair of arms as big as a child on his shoulders, a pair of adult arms on his back, and two pairs of arms of strange beasts.
There was an irregular hole in his chest that went through his body from front to back.
This humanoid monster was holding a third-class wizard apprentice in his hands. He exerted force with both hands, letting out a roar that was a mixture of a grin and a roar, and then twisted it hard, crushing the poor wizard apprentice directly.
Suddenly, fragments of flesh and blood exploded.
In the dwarf street, most of the panicked third-class wizard apprentices were stunned when they saw this scene, while a few tried to use some magic to solve the current dilemma.
But the little magic power of the third-class wizard apprentice did not have much effect on this humanoid monster.
The humanoid monster, despite these spells, moved forward, walking in the streets like a spider, trying to use its slender arms to catch another wizard in the panicked crowd.
“Almost…almost…”
“What went wrong? I did nothing wrong. My head hurts. Kill…kill…kill…”
“I want to become a second-class wizard apprentice. I don’t want to be eliminated. This is my last year… I don’t want to… kill… kill…”
Locke saw a pair of human eyes from the head of the mad humanoid monster, but the blue eyes were gradually becoming crazy, and the last bit of rationality was fading away.
Captain Bruno Suarez watched the scene calmly and sneered: “This is the nth time this year.”
“Damn that Blood Curse Court! They sent spies to place information about questionable advancement paths in front of those desperate wizard apprentices who had lost all hope of advancement, deliberately leading them astray and turning them into monsters like these.”
“Their goal is to undermine our morale and make us doubt whether there are problems with the college’s system.”
“Listen up, law enforcement team! That wizard seedling is beyond saving. Its flesh and blood have been deeply transformed.”
“Kill it and collect its flesh and blood for recycling.”
The next moment, the second-class wizard apprentices of the law enforcement team jumped off the back of the snail and used magic models on the monster whose body had undergone a mutation.
[Secondary Fire Arrow]
Acid splash
[Mage’s Hand]…
More than twenty second-class wizard apprentices, under the command of Captain Bruno Suarez, coordinated well and quickly suppressed the monster transformed by black magic.
Under the effect of a secondary fire arrow, the right arm of the humanoid monster exploded and fell to the ground.
Captain Bruno Suarez chanted a spell and used a trick [Whisp of Thorns] to manipulate the Tivrogen vine hidden under his wizard robe and wrapped around his right arm.
Suddenly, the Tivrogan vine swung out like an iron whip, hitting the humanoid monster on the back, almost splitting him in two.
Not only that, the Whip of Thorns is an advanced trick in the Hand of Vine series. Under the effect of this spell, the Tivrogen vines grew barbs like steel needles, which scraped off the skin and flesh of the humanoid monster one by one.
The humanoid monster let out screams.
Just when everyone thought that the monster was close to death, it suddenly lifted up its tattered clothes, revealing the head of a human wizard apprentice that had been hidden in the clothes on its chest.
Captain Bruno Suarez was stunned for a moment. Locke, who was standing next to him, noticed that he seemed to know the original identity of the owner of the head.
Captain Bruno Suarez whispered, “The Blood Curse Tribunal are truly a bunch of lunatics. Previously, they simply deceived our apprentices, using limb grafting magic from necromancy to transplant the limbs of powerful magical creatures in order to forcibly enhance their mental strength.”
“But now, they are actually deceiving our young wizards and transplanting the heads of dead wizard apprentices.”
“That head… I saw it on the battlefield. It belonged to a second-class wizard apprentice from the Blood Curse Tribunal. That young wizard actually transplanted that head onto his own body…”
Locke was also terrified. “The magic power of that dark wizard is obviously stronger than his own. With this transplant method, did he transplant the dark wizard’s head, or did the dark wizard transplant his own head onto his body?”
“Captain Bruno, I’m also good at the Hand of Vine spells. Perhaps I can cooperate with you.”
Captain Bruno Suarez glanced at Locke who was standing behind him and said, “New here, right? You are right.”
“Even within the Blood Curse Court, limb-reattachment magic is forbidden to learn. It’s a dead end.”
“It will change me into something neither human nor ghost, and seriously affect my self-awareness.”
“Newcomer, be careful. Our opponent now is not a failed experiment, but an elite second-class wizard apprentice of the Blood Curse Court. He was very close to being a first-class wizard apprentice when he was alive.”
“You don’t have much combat experience. You’ll just be wandering around the edge of the battlefield and watching carefully. It’s not easy for you wizard apprentices who came from overseas to get to where you are today.”
“There’s no need to be so stubborn.”
Captain Bruno Suarez glanced at Locke and said, “I believe in the principle of equivalence in everything. Our patrol team was in Lilith’s cabin, enjoying the good times, but you didn’t even get to enjoy them.”
“There’s no need for you to fight to the death now.”
Locke was stunned for a moment, then he understood why Captain Bruno Suarez was so sure that he was from overseas.
Any wizard apprentice who could join the patrol team at this time must have no background and may not even understand the ins and outs of it.
People guessed that I was from overseas.
A strange voice, like that of a child but also of an adult, came from the head on the chest of the humanoid monster, “Hey, isn’t this Bruno Suarez?”
“Hahahaha… You useless people who only know how to make medicine in Lilith’s hut, you didn’t expect that I would get in this way.”
“This body has been modified to be very suitable as my reborn body.”
The head chanted a spell. “The blood feast is truth, the dark night forges eternity; sin is shackled, and those who fear the light will be eternally subservient!”
Then, the head controlled the humanoid monster and began to transform its form. The four strange beast arms behind the monster began to merge and turned into a pair of bat wings.
His muscles and bones were changing, his spine protruding from his back like a spinal worm, and bone spurs grew backwards and pierced his back.
The head on the chest gradually began to move, moving towards the top of the neck, and finally stopped at the throat area of the body, while the original head moved to the left shoulder.
The head revealed a pair of vampire fangs.
Locke looked at the monster, feeling its ominous and disturbing power, “Blood Curse Court… vampire…”
“No wonder it’s called the Blood Curse Court.”
“This should be a branch of psychic magic, a smaller type of magic within the curse sub-direction. Through curse magic, one can transform oneself into a vampire magical creature.”
