Chapter 105 - 102: Does Master Asura Like It?
Chapter 105 - 102: Does Master Asura Like It?
"..." Mo Qianqian was rendered speechless. Wasn’t Lao Liu being a bit too gossipy? He was practically airing Mo Qianqian’s dirty laundry. However, Mo Qianqian was currently disguised as Asura. He couldn’t speak up, lest he arouse suspicion.
Hearing their exchange, a surge of jealousy rushed through Shi Muyao. "Hmph, that was in the past. It’s all history now. He’s my husband!"
"What if an old flame rekindles?" Lao Liu teased.
Mo Qianqian had the sudden urge to beat the living daylights out of Lao Liu.
"Impossible. He and the Ling Family are enemies now!" Shi Muyao retorted angrily.
"It’s really no big deal. It’s normal for men to have multiple wives and concubines," Lao Liu muttered, thoroughly infuriating Shi Muyao.
"The Yuwen Clan has arrived!" Right at that moment, another announcement rang out.
Amidst the chattering crowd, a procession made its way inside. Unlike the other factions, the Yuwen Clan had brought a sizable entourage of over a dozen people. Mo Qianqian spotted two familiar figures among them. One was Yu Wenjingfeng, who was shaped like a giant ball. The other was a burly, broad-shouldered young man in his mid-twenties. This young man was none other than the Yuwen Clan’s top genius, Yu Wenshuo. He had broken through to the Tongyou Realm a year or two ago and currently ranked fourth on the Hidden Dragon List. Though Yu Wenshuo was known as a reckless brute, Mo Qianqian had never actually fought him.
Leading the Yuwen Family group was a short, stout old man with white hair. Mo Qianqian recognized him as well—he was one of the Yuwen Clan’s most formidable experts, Grand Elder Yu Wen Hengtian, an Eighth Level of Tongyou Realm powerhouse! Led by Yu Wenjingfeng, the group marched straight toward them.
"Great Treasure Master, Treasure Master, General Manager, greetings to you all!" Yu Wenjingfeng said with a jovial laugh, cupping his fists in a polite salute to Mo Qianqian’s group.
Beside him, the short and stout Grand Elder of the Yuwen Clan spoke in a heavy, solemn tone, "Slaughterer with the Evil Blade! You once killed members of my Yuwen Family!"
The moment those words left his mouth, the venue fell into a dead silence. Everyone’s eyes instantly snapped toward the Yuwen Clan’s Grand Elder. Normally, it would be almost impossible for anyone to start a fight here. However, an attack from the Grand Elder of one of the three major families was an entirely different story. After all, he was among the absolute top-tier powerhouses of the Great Xia Dynasty. Meanwhile, the Slaughterer with the Evil Blade was a ruthless desperado who dared to kill anyone. If a fight were to break out between them, it wouldn’t be entirely out of the question.
"Did I? I don’t remember. I’ve killed so many people, how am I supposed to know which family they belonged to?" the Slaughterer with the Evil Blade retorted. His response was nothing short of domineering.
"Hmph! You were lucky Lingyun Shan didn’t manage to kill you. Out of respect for Yu Wenjingfeng and Master Asura, I won’t lay a hand on you today. But you’d best pray you never fall into my hands in the future, or your luck will run out!" the Yuwen Clan’s Grand Elder sneered coldly. With a flick of his robes, he strode away.
Yu Wenshuo shot a dismissive glance at Mo Qianqian’s group, clearly looking down on them. Yu Wenjingfeng offered an awkward, apologetic smile before hurrying after the others.
"Another damned old geezer!" the Slaughterer with the Evil Blade cursed without any attempt to hide his disdain. He showed zero fear toward the Yuwen Clan’s Grand Elder.
Mo Qianqian thought to himself, "The Grand Elder probably still thinks the Slaughterer with the Evil Blade is at the Sixth Level of Tongyou Realm." In reality, the Slaughterer with the Evil Blade had already broken through to the Seventh Level of Tongyou Realm. Given his terrifying combat prowess, if the two were to clash, it was hard to say who would emerge victorious.
"The Lie Family has arrived!" the master of ceremonies announced.
Murmurs rose from the crowd once more as another group stepped into the Hongyan Building. Mo Qianqian spotted two more familiar faces: Lieqi and his older brother, Lie Yao! Lie Yao was currently the Lie Family’s number one genius, ranked third on the Hidden Dragon List. Like Yu Wenshuo, he had advanced to the Tongyou Realm a year or two prior.
In the past, when Mo Qianqian had fought in the genius wager match to seize a spirit stone mine for the Ling Family, he had defeated Lie Yao. Lie Yao possessed incredible strength, but he had still suffered a beating at Mo Qianqian’s hands. If the Ling Family hadn’t forbidden killing him, Lie Yao would have died then and there.
Aside from the two brothers, the Lie Family’s Grand Elder and Lie Tai were also in attendance. Lieqi walked over to greet Mo Qianqian’s group. However, the Lie Family’s Grand Elder and the rest of his entourage didn’t approach. Instead, they shot a cold glare at the Slaughterer with the Evil Blade before heading straight to their designated seats. After exchanging brief pleasantries, Lieqi also returned to his family’s section.
The surrounding onlookers couldn’t help but marvel. The fact that disciples of these major families had joined the Asura Conglomerate gave the organization tremendous face. Even the elite geniuses of those families had to come over and pay their respects.
Meanwhile, Lao Liu rambled on, introducing Lie Yao and recounting the story of how Mo Qianqian had defeated him back in the day. Mo Qianqian began to suspect that Lao Liu was actually an intelligence gatherer—albeit one whose information was a disorganized mess heavily skewed toward gossip.
"The Ling Family and the Tai Xuan Academy have arrived!"
At that moment, another sonorous announcement echoed through the hall.
Hearing this, Mo Qianqian’s heart clenched. The Ling Family was here, and they had arrived alongside the Tai Xuan Academy.
A procession of over a dozen people strode into the venue. Turning his head, Mo Qianqian immediately locked onto Ling Qingxue’s figure, as well as the Ling Family’s Grand Elder, Lingyun Shan. The rest of the group mainly consisted of the Ling Family’s younger geniuses and a few other Elders. Mo Qianqian’s eyes darkened completely, and a surge of uncontrollable killing intent welled up inside him.
"That’s Ling Qingxue, Mo Qianqian’s ex-wife!" Lao Liu whispered eagerly, reveling in the potential drama.
Shi Muyao’s face instantly contorted with anger. She wondered if that was the woman who had bad blood with Mo Qianqian in the past. True, Ling Qingxue was breathtakingly beautiful—her white dress as pure as snow, her features stunning enough to topple nations—but Shi Muyao knew she was no slouch herself! As for talent, while she might currently lag far behind Ling Qingxue, Shi Muyao could feel something slowly awakening within her. She knew that as long as she had time, she could bridge the gap!
"Lingyun Shan!" the Slaughterer with the Evil Blade barked coldly, a faint aura of malevolent energy beginning to emanate from his body.
"Now is not the time to fight!" Mo Qianqian warned in a low, stern voice. Starting a fight now would only end with them being ganged up on. Disrupting the venue would provoke not only the Grand Elders of the three major families, but potentially the royal family and even the Third-Grade Spirit Master. That would put them at a massive disadvantage.
The Slaughterer with the Evil Blade reined in his temper. He had promised Asura that he would abide by the Asura Conglomerate’s rules, which meant he naturally had to follow Asura’s orders.
By now, the group from the Ling Family and the Tai Xuan Academy was walking toward them. More accurately, it was mostly the Ling Family; the Tai Xuan Academy had only sent three representatives. Among them were a middle-aged man, a dull-looking youth in his early twenties wearing gray robes, and a young woman who appeared to be around sixteen or seventeen.
The girl was petite and graceful, possessing a charming, girl-next-door quality. Her hair was adorned with numerous ornaments, and tiny bells let out a soft TING-A-LING with every step she took. She radiated a lively, endearing, yet extraordinary aura. Even Mo Qianqian couldn’t help but steal a second glance at her. There was something decidedly exceptional about this young woman.
Noticing Mo Qianqian’s gaze, Lao Liu leaned in and whispered teasingly, completely disregarding the appropriateness of the setting. "That’s the Tai Xuan Academy’s number one genius, Nangong Ling. She’s only sixteen or seventeen, yet she’s already ranked fifth on the Hidden Dragon List. Has she caught your eye, Master Asura?"
