Chapter 37: Here to Poach
Chapter 37: Here to Poach
"How could other factions allow the Yuling Sect to obtain a Spirit Master so easily?"
The youth in black explained, then reminded him, "Get this done, and you’ll have a chance to enter the Cloud Void Sect!"
Wu Yubai’s eyes lit up.
The Cloud Void Sect far surpassed the Yuling Sect in both the number of disciples and elders. Overall, the Cloud Void Sect was much stronger. The only truly formidable figure in the Yuling Sect was their Sect Leader. Having been expelled from the Yuling Sect, joining the Cloud Void Sect would be an excellent alternative.
He was confident that with his talent, as long as he pledged allegiance to the Cloud Void Sect, they would definitely accept him. Once he advanced to the Spirit Profound Realm, he could just as easily compete for a top-tier position within the Cloud Void Sect.
"Yuling Sect, since you refused to keep me, I’ll make sure you regret it!" Wu Yubai swore to himself, "And you, Shi Muyao, I will definitely kill you!"
Immediately, he looked up and said to the youth in black, "Senior Brother Liu, I’ll get to it right away!"
With that, Wu Yubai rose to his feet and headed for the Cloud Void Sect.
Over the following days at the Yuling Sect, Mo Qianqian consistently visited Jade Spirit Peak to treat Shi Muyao’s injuries. In just three days, she had fully recovered.
Moreover, just like before, her cultivation level broke through once her injuries improved. She advanced from the Spirit Vein Realm Fifth Level to the sixth level. It was unclear whether this was due to the infusion of spirituality or Shi Muyao’s own innate potential. The Yuling Sect Master even speculated that Shi Muyao might possess some special talent, which was why Asura was helping her so much.
Over the next few days, many elders and disciples within the Yuling Sect attempted to visit Mo Qianqian. This included Sun Yuerong, and even the Sect Leader’s Direct Disciple, Shangguan Jing. However, Mo Qianqian turned them all away.
On this particular morning, another visitor arrived. But this time, it was the Yuling Sect Master herself.
"Sect Leader, you’ve come in person. Is there a matter you need to discuss?" Mo Qianqian asked upon seeing her mature, beautiful figure.
"The Cloud Void Sect Master has brought over a dozen elders and disciples. He wishes to see Elder Asura," the Yuling Sect Master said.
"Oh?" Mo Qianqian was surprised. The Cloud Void Sect Master was looking for him?
"Naturally, it’s because of your identity as Elder Asura," the Yuling Sect Master explained. "When a Spirit Master joins any faction, they can drastically elevate that faction’s overall strength in the long run. Since the Cloud Void Sect and the Yuling Sect share this region of the Southern Wilderness, they naturally want to ’poach’ you."
Mo Qianqian finally understood; he had still underestimated the status of a Spirit Master.
"Don’t worry, the Cloud Void Sect and I are unlikely to ever see eye to eye," Mo Qianqian said.
Having killed their disciple, Shi Yunhai, he doubted the matter could be resolved peacefully. Although they didn’t know his true identity yet, the Cloud Void Sect certainly wouldn’t let him off easily once they found out.
"The choice is entirely yours, Elder Asura. The Yuling Sect will not interfere," the Yuling Sect Master said. "However, if you choose to stand with the Yuling Sect, we will protect you with everything we have should you face any threats."
Mo Qianqian frowned. Her words were a subtle reminder that rejecting the Cloud Void Sect might invite danger.
But as someone who had survived as a pawn of the Ling family up until now, he had lived his life on the edge of a blade. He had faced his fair share of threats. Having survived this long, he wasn’t afraid of a few threats.
"Let’s go!" Mo Qianqian said softly. He wanted to see exactly what the Cloud Void Sect would do to him if he refused.
SWISH!
Immediately, the Yuling Sect Master swept Mo Qianqian up and headed toward the main peak of the Yuling Sect.
The main peak was the central gathering place for the sect. Major events—such as Elder Council meetings, assemblies of elders and disciples, and martial competitions—were all held there.
By the time Mo Qianqian and the Sect Leader arrived at the main peak’s Martial Arts Arena, a large crowd had already gathered. There were at least two to three hundred people present.
Standing near the front of the crowd was a group of about a dozen people. Among them were only three elderly men; the rest were youths, all exuding extraordinary auras. Standing near the center was a young man dressed in crimson. He carried himself with extreme arrogance, his hands clasped behind his back as he looked at everyone from the Yuling Sect with blatant contempt.
"Is that Mu Yan Mountain, the figure ranked thirty-ninth on the Hidden Dragon List?"
"Our Yuling Sect only had four people make it onto the Hidden Dragon List, and after Wu Yubai was expelled, there are only three left. Shangguan Jing, our highest-ranked disciple, is only forty-third. Just how strong is this Mu Yan Mountain at rank thirty-nine?"
"The Hidden Dragon List ranks based on both strength and potential. A higher rank doesn’t necessarily mean absolute superiority in combat. Our Yuling Sect’s Shangguan Jing, Pei Hong, and Mu Zi are very strong as well. Mu Yan Mountain might not necessarily be able to defeat them."
"Exactly! Our three senior sisters are all Spirit Profound Realm experts. If a real fight breaks out, it’s anyone’s guess who would win!"
"I heard the Cloud Void Sect has six people on the Hidden Dragon List. I wonder if all six of them came?"
Before even landing, Mo Qianqian could hear a flurry of discussions.
SWISH!
In a flash, the Yuling Sect Master landed in front of the crowd, bringing Mo Qianqian with her.
"Sect Leader!" the entire Yuling Sect shouted in unison.
A black-haired elder—imposing, hale and hearty, and dressed in a dark gray-patterned robe—spoke up. "Sect Leader Yu, I trust you’ve been well!"
His gaze carried a hint of disdain.
"Sect Leader Mo, what is your purpose in coming to my Yuling Sect?" the Yuling Sect Master asked directly, her tone far from polite.
Clearly, this black-haired elder was the Cloud Void Sect Master.
Mo Qianqian’s eyes locked onto the Cloud Void Sect Master. The man gave off an unfathomable feeling! His strength was likely on par with the Yuling Sect Master. His cultivation had definitely reached the Tongyou Realm or higher!
"Sect Leader Yu, I heard that a Spirit Master has joined the Yuling Sect." As the Cloud Void Sect Master spoke, his gaze shifted to the masked Mo Qianqian. After sizing him up, he asked, "I presume this is the First-Grade Spirit Master, Master Asura?"
"That’s right," Mo Qianqian replied indifferently.
He was eager to see exactly what these people from the Cloud Void Sect were planning.
