Chapter 8: You Dare Fight Back?
Chapter 8: You Dare Fight Back?
In another courtyard.
Shi Muyao’s family and Mo Qianqian returned to the estate.
"Yaoyao, um, are you confident about securing this deal?" Yang Lan asked Shi Muyao, her face full of worry.
"I will do my best to get it," Shi Muyao said, gritting her teeth.
"That’s good, that’s good. Once we secure the medicinal herbs deal, our family’s status will be restored." Yang Lan continued, "As for Kong Mingcheng, he is, after all, a Deputy Elder of the Ten Thousand Spirits Pavilion. If he agrees, a marriage alliance with him wouldn’t be out of the question."
"Mother, what are you saying?" Shi Muyao said angrily. "Approaching Kong Mingcheng is strictly for business. I will not have any other kind of relationship with him! Besides, I’m already married. Don’t even think about it!"
"Married?" Hearing this only infuriated Yang Lan. She glared at Mo Qianqian and scolded, "Mo Qianqian, you piece of trash! You and our Yaoyao are worlds apart, and you don’t deserve her. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll get the hell out of the Shi Family on your own."
"No!" Shi Muyao said with unwavering resolve. "If you force Mo Qianqian to leave the Shi Family, I’ll leave too! As for negotiating with the Ten Thousand Spirits Pavilion, you can find someone else to do it!"
"You—you’re rebelling against me!" Yang Lan swung a palm at Shi Muyao. However, this time, Mo Qianqian caught Yang Lan’s hand in mid-air.
"She is your daughter, not your servant," Mo Qianqian said.
"You—you’ve got some nerve! You’re nothing but a useless live-in son-in-law, and you dare fight back?" Furious, Yang Lan yanked her arm but couldn’t break free. She swung her other hand at Mo Qianqian, but he simply extended his other hand and caught that one too.
"Mo Qianqian, you trash..." As Yang Lan cursed, Mo Qianqian’s gaze sharpened. Murderous intent flashed in his eyes, and his entire demeanor grew icy and fierce, frightening Yang Lan into a tremble.
"Enough!" Shi Muyao grabbed Mo Qianqian’s arm. "Let’s go!"
Mo Qianqian let go and followed Shi Muyao out.
"Mo Qianqian!" Yang Lan was livid but didn’t dare chase after them. Instead, she glared furiously at Shi Ping. "Look at you, just standing there! A useless piece of trash dared to defy me, and you didn’t even lift a finger?"
"Lanlan, Yaoyao just recovered..."
Shi Ping was about to say something, but Yang Lan interrupted him with a scolding. "So what if she just recovered? Am I not doing this for her own good? What benefit could she possibly get from dragging around a piece of trash?"
Hearing the curses from behind them, Mo Qianqian was rendered speechless. Soon enough, after heading deeper into the estate, he was pulled into a room by Shi Muyao.
"Do you have a way to help me get the orders from the Ten Thousand Spirits Pavilion?" Shi Muyao asked.
"Not me, you. You have already recovered your cultivation. You have to believe that the Ten Thousand Spirits Pavilion will definitely want to befriend a genius like you," Mo Qianqian replied.
"You—you made me agree just because of that?" Shi Muyao’s expression darkened instantly. She had actually thought Mo Qianqian had a real plan!
"Tomorrow, I’ll go to the Ten Thousand Spirits Pavilion with you. They will definitely agree." Mo Qianqian didn’t offer any further explanation, only stating it simply.
"You..." Shi Muyao was tongue-tied with anger. However, this was indeed a matter for the Shi Family. It didn’t really have much to do with Mo Qianqian. Since she had already agreed, she could only bite the bullet and go.
"Fine. Tomorrow, I’ll do my best!" she finally said.
That evening.
Wearing a black robe and a Black Iron Mask, Mo Qianqian walked into the Ten Thousand Spirits Pavilion.
"I’m looking for your Pavilion Master." Mo Qianqian walked up to a glamorous woman at the counter, projecting the voice of a middle-aged man.
"Looking for our Pavilion Master?" The glamorous woman sized up Mo Qianqian, a look of arrogance appearing on her face. "Who are you? What business do you have with our Pavilion Master? Our Pavilion Master isn’t someone just anyone can meet," she said in a mocking tone.
Mo Qianqian frowned. "If I’m looking for your Pavilion Master, it’s naturally to discuss important matters."
"Discuss important matters?" Contempt flickered in the glamorous woman’s eyes. "I’ve seen plenty of people like you. You think you can just slap on a mask, act all mysterious, and get an audience with our Pavilion Master? Life’s not that easy."
"Then what must I do to see your Pavilion Master?" Mo Qianqian asked.
"Seeing our Pavilion Master requires qualifications. And you clearly don’t have them. I suggest you leave immediately. The Ten Thousand Spirits Pavilion is not a place for you to cause trouble," the glamorous woman warned.
Mo Qianqian’s eyes narrowed. This woman was incredibly arrogant! It seemed that if he didn’t use a little force, he wouldn’t even qualify to see the Pavilion Master.
SWISH!
With a jolt of Mo Qianqian’s Spirit, a Spirit Body materialized behind the glamorous woman, its hands locking around her throat.
"COUGH! COUGH!"
The glamorous woman jolted in shock. She had only seen Mo Qianqian narrow his eyes—he hadn’t lifted a finger—yet it felt as if someone was strangling her. She quickly reached up to grab her throat, only to find herself clutching a pair of hands. However, with her limited strength, it was impossible to pry those hands apart.
"You..." The glamorous woman stared at Mo Qianqian in horror. With just a glare, it was as if someone had physically grabbed her throat. How was this possible?
"Now, do I have the qualifications?" Mo Qianqian asked coldly.
Feeling herself on the verge of suffocation, the glamorous woman croaked, "Yes, yes..."
Only then did Mo Qianqian allow the Spirit Body to vanish.
The glamorous woman came to her senses, gasping heavily for air. She looked around, but there wasn’t a single soul in sight. Glaring back at Mo Qianqian with extreme fury, she hissed, "You—you actually dared to lay a hand on me? Do you know where you are?"
