Chapter 84 - 81: There Might Be Another Death
Chapter 84 - 81: There Might Be Another Death
Luocheng, from a distance, appeared significantly larger than Qingcheng.
People constantly moved in and out through Luocheng’s city gates, where stationed teams frequently pulled individuals aside for interrogation.
"Are you Mo Qianqian’s wife?" a young man’s voice suddenly rang out ahead just as Mo Qianqian approached the gates.
Mo Qianqian frowned and looked up. Ahead, a young man in his early twenties dressed in white was interrogating a young woman.
The young woman, clad in plain clothes, looked like an ordinary person with no cultivation base. However, she possessed a stunning, delicate beauty, easily ranking among the most gorgeous of ordinary women.
At the same time, Mo Qianqian felt a surge of surprise. Luocheng was actually conducting searches for him, even interrogating people about his wife, Shi Muyao?
He wondered, "Is all of Central Earth hunting me down?"
Regardless, it was glaringly obvious that this woman had absolutely no connection to Shi Muyao. Moreover, Shi Muyao was currently at the Yuling Sect. How could she possibly have come to a place like Luocheng in Central Earth?
"My Lord, I-I’m not this Mo Qianqian’s wife. I’m not even married yet! Please, My Lord, you must look into this clearly," the beautiful woman stammered nervously.
"Of course I will look into it clearly!" The young man in white could hardly conceal the lecherous gleam in his eyes. He signaled to the two guards beside him. "Seize her and take her away for questioning."
Following his order, the two guards stepped forward and grabbed the beautiful woman.
"No! My Lord, I’m truly not Mo Qianqian’s wife. I don’t know anyone by that name! Please, spare me," the woman pleaded frantically, her face full of grievance.
Mo Qianqian’s gaze darkened. It was quite obvious that the young man in white had taken a fancy to her beauty and intended to drag her off for nefarious purposes.
"You think just saying you aren’t is enough? What do you think we’re standing here for?" the young man in white scolded.
"I-I’m truly not! I won’t enter Luocheng anymore. I’ll just leave, okay?" the beautiful woman said in a panic.
"What do you think? If we find out you are Mo Qianqian’s wife, not only will you not be allowed to leave, but you probably won’t leave with your life. Do you understand?" the young man threatened.
The beautiful woman trembled, her panic intensifying. "I-I-I’m really not!" She sobbed. "I just came to the city to make a living. I’m begging you, please let me go..."
"As long as you ’cooperate’ nicely, you’ll naturally have a way out." The young man in white gave a lewd chuckle and waved at the two guards. "Take her away!"
With that, he turned and started to walk away first.
"No... Help! Somebody help me!" the beautiful woman screamed at the top of her lungs.
The young man’s expression stiffened. He looked back at her and coldly scoffed, "Hmph, as a suspected wife of Mo Qianqian, no one can save you. Dare to scream again, and I’ll end your life right here! Gag her!"
One of the guards immediately clamped a hand over the woman’s mouth. Together, the two guards grabbed her and began to drag her away.
"It is quite obvious that she isn’t Mo Qianqian’s wife."
The voice of a middle-aged man suddenly rang out. Naturally, the voice belonged to Mo Qianqian. As he spoke, he strode forward.
Upon hearing this, the young man in white halted abruptly and turned to glare at Mo Qianqian, a freezing look crossing his face. "Who the hell do you think you are? You dare meddle in my affairs?"
The surrounding guards immediately turned their attention to Mo Qianqian, as did the crowds passing through the city gates.
"Someone actually dared to stand up for her? He’s not afraid of offending Young Master Luo."
"Offending Young Master Luo... I’m afraid he’ll meet a miserable end."
"He’s probably new here. He doesn’t know the rules of Luocheng."
"At this rate, another life might be lost today."
The crowd broke into hushed whispers. Some looked terrified, some showed sympathy, others appeared helpless, while some simply wore the expressions of spectators settling in to watch a good show.
"Abducting an innocent woman in broad daylight? You’re less than nothing!" Mo Qianqian walked toward the young man in white step by step, his eyes glinting with a cold light.
"What did you just say? You actually dare to call me less than nothing?" The young man in white laughed out of sheer anger. "Hahaha! Where did this reckless fool come from? Do you even know who I am? You think wearing a mask makes you a big shot? Trying to play the hero saving the beauty?"
The group of guards beside him tacitly advanced on Mo Qianqian step by step, moving to surround him.
"Let me tell you, I am Luo Jinhao, the biological grandson of Patriarch Luo! And in Luocheng, the Luo Family has the final say!" Luo Jinhao stared at Mo Qianqian with a savage expression. "Now, do you know what regret tastes like?"
"Get on your knees for the young master, now!"
"Kowtow and admit your mistakes to the young master, or your life is forfeit!"
"Pay the price for your blunder! Kneel!"
The guards chimed in with their threats with perfect timing, clearly eager to flatter Luo Jinhao.
The captured beautiful woman was now engulfed in panic. She was deeply grateful that someone had stepped forward to save her and speak up on her behalf. But was she going to be the cause of his death?
She turned her head to look at the masked Mo Qianqian, her heart a tangled mess of conflicting emotions. She didn’t want to be taken away, but she also didn’t want to drag anyone else down with her.
"I-I’ll kneel for you! I’ll kneel for you, just let him go." The woman, whose mouth was no longer covered, finally spoke up. Her voice was laced with sobs and overwhelming grievance.
SMACK!
Luo Jinhao landed a heavy slap on the woman’s face. "Hmph, who do you think you are?" he sneered coldly. "Do you think you’re worthy of pleading for someone else?"
WHIMPER...
A deep red handprint welled up on her face. If not for the two guards holding her, she would have been knocked to the ground. The beautiful woman began to weep from the pain.
Seeing this, Mo Qianqian’s eyes narrowed, and his voice turned dead serious. "Kneel down and kowtow right now. Compensate her and let her go, and I’ll spare your life."
"What did you say? You’re telling me to kneel to you?" Luo Jinhao had completely lost his patience. Enraged, he roared, "Fine! You’ve got some nerve, you arrogant piece of trash! Take him down! Break his legs first and make him kneel before me!"
As soon as his voice fell, the group of guards surged forward to rush Mo Qianqian.
THUD!
Right at that moment, the guards heard a loud noise. They instinctively turned their heads, only to see Luo Jinhao suddenly drop to his knees, slamming heavily against the ground.
"What?"
The guards were dumbfounded. The surrounding crowd was utterly dumbstruck.
The domineering, villainous Luo Jinhao had actually knelt before that masked middle-aged man? How was that possible?
THUD!
Immediately after, they watched as Luo Jinhao forcefully kowtowed to Mo Qianqian, smashing his head heavily against the ground.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
The echoing sounds didn’t stop. Luo Jinhao kowtowed more than a dozen times in a row, until blood began to seep from his forehead.
"Y-Young Master Luo..." one of the guards asked blankly.
He completely failed to understand what Luo Jinhao was doing. The other guards were just as clueless. For a moment, none of them knew whether they should charge forward or apologize to the masked man.
