Chapter 35.2: Adulterous husband and adulterous wife???
While the bald man looked at Qian Heng with deep admiration, waiting for his righteous verdict, Qian Heng merely curved his lips into a faint smile. He lifted a slender, pale finger and pointed at Megatron. “When, exactly, did this dog rape your dog?”
Bald man: ???
Cheng Yao: ???
Ignoring the bewilderment on everyone’s faces, Qian Heng continued calmly, “I completely understand your pain, treating your dog like a son and believing he’s been sexually assaulted. But the thing is—this wasn’t done by our dog.”
“What?!” The bald man’s eyes widened as he looked from Cheng Yao to Qian Heng. “So you two are in this together?! This dog belongs to you adulterous scum?!”
“What adulterous scum?” Qian Heng lifted his eyelids lazily. “Watch your words. Don’t insult my taste.”
Cheng Yao: “……”
The middle-aged woman pressed forward aggressively. “It’s your dog! I saw it with my own eyes! And now you want to deny it?!”
Qian Heng let out a cold chuckle. “You saw it? What proof do you have? Did you record a video? Do you have any witnesses aside from the two of you, who are directly involved in this dispute?”
“Well…”
The area they were in was a secluded corner of the neighborhood, and indeed, apart from the people currently present, there was no one else around.
“No evidence at all, yet you slander my dog just to extort money? Ridiculous.” Qian Heng remained completely composed. “Besides, your dog is male. Even if my dog had raped yours, it wouldn’t get pregnant. If it were a female dog and ended up having a litter of puppies, at least we could try to judge from their appearance whether my dog was responsible. But in this case? There’s no proof at all.”
“You—!”
“I’m someone who only believes in evidence. If you can provide solid proof that my dog did something to yours, I’ll admit it, and if it needs to be neutered, so be it—I won’t argue. But right now, what proof do you have?”
The middle-aged woman refused to give up and insisted, “I’ll take my dog for a DNA test! If they find your dog’s sperm DNA, you’re finished!” She turned to her husband. “Humans can do DNA tests, right? We’ll just pay extra and get a DNA test for dogs! I refuse to believe we can’t get results!”
“I don’t know if dog DNA tests are a thing,” Qian Heng said with a smirk, “but I do know that if you want to collect my dog’s fur for DNA comparison, you’d need my permission first.” His smile deepened, his tone exasperatingly smug. “And unfortunately, I don’t consent.”
“Besides, even if mating did occur, you’d still have to prove it was non-consensual —that it was against your dog’s will.” Qian Heng paused and glanced at the Alaskan Malamute. “But from what I see, your dog seems to have enjoyed it. Look at those half-closed eyes, that relaxed expression—it still looks like it’s reminiscing.”
The bald man’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. “You—!!!”
But Qian Heng paid him no mind and continued, “Not to mention, your dog is already five years old—you’ve had it for five years, at least. That’s what, forty in human years? Meanwhile, my dog is only one year old, the equivalent of a fresh eighteen-year-old in its prime. If anything, your dog is the one preying on the younger one. Even if something did happen, maybe your dog was the one seducing and taking advantage of mine. Our dog is the real victim here.”
His words left not only the bald man and the middle-aged woman utterly speechless but also stunned Cheng Yao, who barely resisted the urge to applaud him on the spot.
When it came to twisted logic, Qian Heng was in a league of his own.
Megatron was a rescue dog Qin Qin had adopted. His supposed “one-year-old” age was just a guess—honestly, even Qin Qin probably didn’t know how old he really was. Yet Qian Heng had spun that into a flawlessly confident argument without even blinking. Cheng Yao couldn’t be more impressed.
“In short, there’s no evidence. And even if there were, you still couldn’t prove it wasn’t consensual. We don’t even know who the real victim is here. If you want to take legal action, go ahead and sue.” Qian Heng shot a glance at the bald man, who had picked up his bat again, then casually rolled up his sleeves. “Of course, if you’d rather settle this with a fight, that’s fine too. But only if you can actually beat me.”
Arrogant? Yes. But Qian Heng had every right to be.
Even the fierce-looking bald man hesitated after sizing him up, clearly reluctant to make a move.
“Since there are no further objections, I’m busy. I don’t have time to waste here.”
With that, he waved at Cheng Yao. “Cheng Yao, grab the dog. We’re leaving.”
Cheng Yao didn’t dare stay a second longer. She quickly took hold of Megatron’s leash and scurried after Qian Heng.

As soon as they got home and settled Megatron in, Qian Heng’s face darkened, and he spoke with clear disapproval.
“I see no hope for the future of the legal system in you.”
“Eh???”
It was just a neighborhood dispute over pets—how did this turn into a commentary on the future of the legal system?
Qian Heng looked as though he was at his wit’s end. He pressed his fingers against his temple, clearly exasperated. “What if I hadn’t been there today? You would’ve been beaten up by that couple.”
Cheng Yao suddenly understood. She nodded sincerely, taking his words to heart. “Thank you, boss! I get it now. Next time, I’ll call the police first thing!”
But instead of approval, her answer earned her a mocking laugh from Qian Heng. “Call the police? By the time they arrive, you’d already be half-dead.”
“Then…?”
“Cheng Yao, you’re a lawyer. You need to think like a lawyer at all times, not panic like an ordinary person when faced with a dispute.” Qian Heng took a sip of water. “Haven’t you heard the famous saying in the legal world? ‘When the facts are on your side, emphasize the facts. When the law is on your side, emphasize the law. When neither are on your side, slam the table and muddy the waters.’ “
“Uh…”
“Forget it. You should just focus on training your sprinting and long-distance running instead.”
“Huh? Why?” Cheng Yao glanced at herself. Had she gained weight recently? No, she hadn’t! She had even weighed herself yesterday—she had actually lost a pound!
Qian Heng shot her an undisguised eye roll. “With your ability to handle disputes, I think your best bet is to get better at running away.”
“…”
Looking completely unimpressed, Qian Heng got up, patted her on the shoulder, and said, “Hit the gym more often. Seriously.”

Although Qian Heng had lectured Cheng Yao once again, at least he had genuinely stepped up at a critical moment, using his impressive sophistry skills to protect both her and the dog. Because of this, Cheng Yao went to work at Junheng the next day feeling almost grateful.
After wrapping up Dong Shan’s case, she thought she could finally take a break. That morning, as she was going through case analyses on a legal public account, a commotion broke out at the front desk.
A young woman with a pregnant belly had come looking for Qian Heng.
She was beautiful and delicate, her stomach round and full as if she was about to give birth at any moment. Most notably, her eyes were red, brimming with tears, as she wiped them away and spoke in a voice as soft and fragile as raindrops on pear blossoms.
“Does Qian Heng work here?” She blinked, her misty eyes shimmering. “I need to see him.”
The receptionist was clearly at a loss.
The woman wiped her tears again. “I’ve been looking for him for a long time. There are matters that only he can take responsibility for.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Bao Rui—who had been complaining about his insomnia and exhaustion all morning—was instantly reinvigorated.
“I can’t believe this day has finally come!!!” His eyes sparkled with an eerie green light. “At last! A pregnant woman has come knocking on Qian Par’s door, demanding he take responsibility for his romantic entanglements! My god, if she insists on keeping the baby, Qian Par will have to pay child support. If she decides to terminate the pregnancy, he’ll have to cover medical expenses and compensation! As the person directly involved, Qian Par won’t be able to handle this rationally. This is the moment when he’ll have no choice but to rely on someone reliable—me! This is amazing! Being depended on by Qian Par is one of my life’s greatest aspirations! I, Bao Rui, have finally become Qian Heng’s personal representative! From this day forward, I am the king’s right-hand man! Ahahahaha! The usually flawless Qian Par has actually made a mess of things! He must be feeling utterly devastated—he’ll definitely need a strong shoulder by his side to guide him, comfort him…”
Before Cheng Yao could remind Bao Rui that “the king’s right-hand man” was a highly inappropriate term, his grand delusions were immediately shattered.
“I want to hire Qian Heng as my lawyer.”
“…”
Bao Rui instantly deflated, collapsing onto his desk. “My heart is weary, my tears have dried. I feel so empty… so drained.”
Just as he slumped over, Qian Heng arrived, his face cold. “You and Cheng Yao, come to the meeting room.” Then, he shot a glance at Bao Rui. “Even if you’re drained, you still have to serve the clients.”
The moment he heard there was a new case, Bao Rui, who had just been lamenting his soul-crushing despair, immediately sprang back up, his eyes gleaming with the bloodthirsty light of capitalism.
